has anyone fixed the " a server error has occured while attempting to access your online storage" yet. I have gone through a ton of posts but have found nothing, can anyone help?!!!!

If I try to import a character, say my female Dalish elf rogue I made with no tattoos, when I import her into the game she has tattoos. When I change to no tattoos, she reverts to the default preset face I customized for her, and all customizations are lost. Thus I have to make her from scratch all over again in game, and hope I remember all the changes I made.

I keep getting this same error message over and over again. Makes the CC completely useless for me. Even more as I read about the problems importing the made characters into the game... Very frustrating...

I have exactly the same problem and im running on an x1650. I know its not the graphics card itself, as i had it running perfectly on windows xp. However the switch to windows 7 has caused the error you are getting. However i have updated the drivers to the 9.3 ccc version, the newest available for the x1600 series. I had exactly the same problem, also running a x1650, directly after installing the character creator on a freshly installed Windows 7. Then I installed the most current ATI graphics drivers package available on ati.com and after this the problem went away.
I am running the x1600. Can you let me know what version of the ATI drivers you are using. I was under the impression that the X16xx series are cards were moved to the legacy driver set?
Yes, I use the latest legacy driver set. ATI drivers Version 8.593.100.0 from 21.07.2009

I've only encountered one problem with the CC.
If I want to make a character with beard, his cheek settings resets to the lowest value as soon as I scroll through the beards, making him look insanely thin and gaunt. And when I wanted to make a dwarf the cheek settings were changed when I just made the slightest change to anything.
And it's really weird that you can't even select mouth or cheek settings while the character has a beard, or is that just a bug on my part? Those options are greyed out as soon as I select a beard.
Otherwise the game is fine for me.

Each time I ran the CC it went through the intro again, no way to escape. Also characters were not being saved.
Turns out it had a problem with 'My Documents' being pointed at a UNC (e.g. \\\\servername\\folder).
I realize some applications don't handle that well... but the CC silently failed to save my character creations and lied, saying 'Saved'.

I have a core 2 duo @ 2.33 ghz, 1 gig of ram and a geforce 9800 GT with 512 mb of ram. I can run the character creator sign into my profile and create a character. I try to upload my character so I can get the special ring and the program crashes on me. Says it ran into a problem and must shut down nothing specific.

i uploaded my characters yester (friday 11-6) but they have not shown up in my profile yet. when i start the game on my xbox however, i do have the ring. how long til i can upload my characters to my xbox and view them in my profile?

Perhaps you are already aware of this, but there is a glitch when giving characters beards. The cheeks sink in as if emaciated and there is no way to recover from the "sunken cheek" look. It really makes the character look awkward.
Edit: Upon further inspection, it only seems to happen when the character goes from having a beard to the left most setting of no beard. After that, the face remains guant.

I also cannot upload any characters, as when I try, I get a message about a server error occuring when trying to access online storage, and then the character creator freezes with upload message darkening screen and the error message behind it. Since I can't click ok, I have to manually close it and get the windows error message.(Which I don't send).
It would be nice if this issue were resolved so I could get the Lucky Ring like so many others have.

In all cases the error message is displayed in grey and there's nowhere to click to clear it (which I have to say is an appallingly amateurish bit of programming). I'm forced to Ctl+Alt+Del and kill the CC from the Task Manager, but even that does not always work right. Most often doing so causes the CC to freeze up in fullscreen mode. Only once did it actually minimize so I could see the Task Manager. In all other cases I've had to use the power button on my computer to initiate shutdown; then, at least, the CC responds to shutdown properly, thank the gods.
I uninstalled the CC successfully and am currently trying to redownload it using the link on the Social Network site. Here I'm having the other technical issue I've noticed, which is that more often than not the CC installer (English version) downloaded from Bioware's site is corrupt and won't launch.
I've spent (read: wasted) several hours trying to get this thing working because I've paid for the game and expect it to arrive any moment, and I'd really like to unlock the Lucky Stone thingie. Now that the game has launched, is there any chance at all that you folks would be kind enough to unlock the Lucky Stone for everyone who uploads a character from the actual game, so that we won't have to waste any more time trying to get the CC to work?
UPDATE: My game finally arrived a couple hours ago. Got it installed with no problem, and it's working fine. It has no problem connecting to this site and updating my player profile, etc. However, the CC is still not able to connect to the server.
All this means there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my firewall, or my home network, or my ISP. It would appear that the problem is entirely in the Character Creator.
At the risk of repeating myself, I hope the good folks at Bioware and EA will see their way clear to making the Lucky Stone available to all registered owners of the game, regardless of whether they were able to upload a character using the CC. After all, it seems a great many of us have spent some time trying to get the CC to work, all in hopes of getting this trinket for our characters, and to no avail. This is time we could have spent doing something more profitable.
The game itself, I'm happy to say, is spectacular so far. I'm glad I bought it. I was planning to buy it anyhow, and (since I knew I was going to buy it) I would never have spent any time downloading or installing the CC were it not for the possibility of getting the Lucky Stone. The thought that I've wasted so much time is becoming, for me, the only shadow on what promises to be a very enjoyable gaming experience.

*bump* Darth's post above. i can login using the CC but can't upload the saved character profiles, getting the "a server error has occured while attempting to access your online storage" error before having to alt+f4 to kill the app.
how about releasing an update in the form of a hotfix/patch for the CC?

I am encountering the same problem as Darth as well. The uploading info keeps flashing while the timed out message appears behind it. There is no way to click the ok behind the upload info flashing on the screen.

What does the patch have to do with the character creator?
Regardless, I'm having the same problem as many others. I startup Character Creator, log in to my account and when I am done creating a character, it won't let me upload. It comes up with an error behind the 'Uploading' label, saying that it was failed to access my online storage. Then it gets stuck and I have to force close the program.
Seriously, I hate to whine about this because I, personally, have encountered zero problems so far with the actual game, which is awesome by the way, but I REALLY want that Lucky Stone.

The patch is fine, but it will not help you wuth the CC. You should consider changing your anti virus solution. I recommend Avast! . And BTW: It's free (registration necessary).i love fire wrote...

Whenever I go to http://social.biowar...ctercreator.php for the DL of the program, it keep divert me to the login page asking me to login which I had already login. It just keep reparting no matter how many times I tried. Anyone can help me solve the problem? Thx

Is there no way of getting the item without uploading a char created with the CC??
CC isn't working for me.. when i start it up and click play the splashscreen comes up.. then black screen, and after a couple of seconds the power button on my monitor begins to blink.. Ie: there is no signal coming to the monitor. Cant do anything but do a hard reset.
When windows get back up it comes with this window asking to search for a solution to the problem. If i expand the window i can see the reason being BlueScreen.
Just got the retail game and it works just fine, but CC isn't working at all.
I am using Windows 7, 4 gigs ram, ATI 5870 gfx.
