A box titled "Quit" tells me "Failed to detect a supported video card." after I press Play. The main problem is, I have no idea what video card I DO have or how to see it or change it. I'm using a Windows XP but I don't know how to look at the other information about my computer.

Hello! I just bought the game this week, but when seeing there was a ring you could get for uploading a character, I wanted to try, so I downloaded the generator yesterday. I made a character and yesterday tried a few times to upload it, It told me that I had timed out while trying to connect to my online portfolio or profile or whatever the message is called. It then sorta freezes and says it's still uploading but really doesn't do anything. I thought maybe there was just alot of traffic or a server issue so I tried again this morning and met with the same message.

Anyone else having this problem?

Yes I am having that same issure right now.

Today on the PC I made some characters on the creator and when I try and upload them it times out. I already logged into my profile so I know I am connected to the servers. When I try and upload the new characters the screen grays out the entire character layer and a new message layer appears over it that says loading . That's fine, but then when it is obviously taking too long, in a few minutes a message will pop up that says "you have timed out while attempting to access your online profile storage" but this message is also grayed out and it is behind the loading message layer so nothing can be done about it and it will continue loading for eternity with no way in to stop it in game, making me have to force shut it down with windows which it does just fine with no "program not responding error"

I am woundering is it a problem with the biowear site or is it a problem on my end that I can fix?

Seriously, this whole thread is full of these exact same claims.  It's been happening for a while and I just don't think it's going to be fixed.  Or if it will, it'll probably happen a while from now.  I guess I'm being negative and that could potentially ****** people off (God only knows how many times I've felt that way), but I really just don't know what other way to feel about this issue.

I uninstalled the Character Creator and it deleted all my screenshots. Over 100 of them...

For the last several days i have been playing the main game and finally finished it last night (60hours or so later!). Really amazing game and, as so often happens in this type of game, i got very attached to my characters.

This afternoon to upload a character, to get this ring thing, however when it didnt work i uninstalled the Character Creator and made the new character right in game. Today i found this in the uninstall logs:

[Sunday Nov 15 12:37:33 2009] Delete 'C:\\\\Users\\\\Sam\\\\Documents\\\\BioWare\\\\Dragon Age\\\\Screenshots'

Brilliantly it has now deleted my entire characters screenshot history. Anyone who is in a similar situation make sure you back up before uninstalling or you will, like me, loose your cherished collection.
(I hadnt uploaded any to site yet, but i emailed tech support to see if they can help me get them back... not hopeful)

Can i suggest something is done about this, as its amazingly disapointing and really note very sensible.

I downoaded the character creater and it will run just fine, but the after i click play, the loading screen comes up and then it stops responding, it wont sort itself out and it will close. I have changed the settings and tried it multiple times and it still wont work. Anybody got any ideas?

Same here Character creator times out when uploading.

The manage characters page online also says "This feature is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience."

After installing and running the character creator, it appears to have overwritten the game's launcher/.exe file. All attemtps to launch the game result in the charater creator launching. Accessing the game folder to use the maiin DAOriginsLauncher only launches the creator.

I'm running an AMD 3800+ dual core, NVidia 1Gb video card. Have 3Gb system ram and 100 Gb free HD space.

Tried running the character creator on 3 separate computers.

All 3 stating it failed to find a supported video card.

Is there a list of supported video cards?

The website says service temporary disabled, so I guess that is why the CC times out (happens to me as well). The issue really is that the uploading... splash does not go away and there is no way to click on OK in the info dialog, and the application has to be forcefully closed.

I got the full game collectors edition etc online (download version) And im LUVIN'IT!

BUT i decided to download the character creator to....guess what!! The RING!!

AND OFCOURSE: i got EXACTLY the same problem as everyone else here;

cannot upload character/info... Than the char creator totally locks out on me...



and the worst part is, the more i cant get me hands on that frikkin worthless ring, THE MORE I WANT IT:D

Well, I have the XBox version, but thought that I would check out the PC Character Gen (not just for the ring, but to test to see if my computer could handle the game).



No upload possible; I thought that it was just me.



Is it *supposed* to not let you actually choose your skills, spells, and talents? I was thinking that it was just my system, but after seeing this first issue being so wide-spread I thought that I would ask.

When i run character creator, my upper part of a screen starts flickering. It flicks so much, that i cant see the upper part of a body which shows at start of modifying. I can run menus, but picture constantly flicks in upper part of acreen.

I wanted to get a snazzy avatar finally after finished the game and beginning my second playthrough, so i downloaded the tool cause i couldn't seem to find anywhere to upload from within the game.
Now I'm staring at a BSOD, hahaha
Seems to have something to do with a page fault involving my graphics driver ;O

EDIT: Updated to latest nvidia drivers and rebooted and no more issues

The game runs fine but whenever I open the Character Creator I get a blig grainy squre in the lower left corner of the screen - effectively preventing me from using the program as I can't see half the screen. Fidling with the resolution and various other graphic settings didn't help. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I can't change the color of my character's eyes moving the bar doesn't change the color, it remains dark
