ok, now mine works, but when i try to use the character creator, it goes to a black screen and i need to shut off my laptop. Think my laptop can't handle it?

Once again, this appears to be a case of the actual game versus the standalone creator. There is a "Can my PC Run it" thread inside the DAO game forum. It's in the PC Tech forum. . . I authored it.

Factually, the Character Creator doesn't represent anything truly similar to a "demo", although it is a fact that PCs unable to run the standalone freeby won't be able to run the game itself.

I keep getting the 'unable to connect to the online storage server' error whenever I try to do something with the CC. Could it have something to do with the recent old forum hack. It is odd, because I had no problems with my account, logging in or out as others have reported, just this. How can I fix it?
Edit; Okay, found a post in the DA:O section that says EA is updating the server at the moment.

Once I have created a character it will not upload. It will just sit there flashing "Upload Info" in the center of the screen without ever uploading or even just timing out.
System specs: Windows XP (service pack 4), Pentium 4 Dual Core 3GHz, 4GB RAM (2.5GB actual, 1.5GB system reserve), 1GB NVIDIA video card (don't remember exact model), wireless network

Yep I'm getting the same thing whenever I try and upload my character data, it worked previously but over the last few weeks I haven't been able to upload any new characters because of this.

I have a suspicion that the recent site update has invalidated the Character Creator. Although, oddly, the Character roster is still visible on my account.

ARG! I have created 2 characters with the Character Creator. I have successfully uploaded them to my on-line profile...
But I CANNOT find them in the game!
I found the character files in 'pre release characters' folder.
I even CREATED folders for them and moved them into 'characters'
I still cannot play as the characters selected.
PLEASE HELP!

The Character Creator was a "current" item nearly three years ago. It is just not that pertinent with DAO now practically forgotten, and DA2 such a financial disaster. Expecting anything from Bioware or EA regarding it is pure fantasy, and as few people as are still playing with it, gamer to gamer help is likely to be unlikely.
(I never expected to use the Character Creator for anything practical, and it suited me well enough just to gain a little familiarity with the eventual game's own character creation interface.)

I downloaded and used it a few hours ago but now it's suddenly saying it failed to detect a supported video card even though it was fine an hour or two ago!

That sort of thing is almost always one of two things: you either have a malware infection that has damaged the software, or you have a storage subsystem that is failing.

Is it possible to use female preset hairstyles, on a male character?
i love the female style with the 2 small ponytale's behind each ear,
with a 3rd at the back of the head... (i think it's the 4th or 5th choice in the menu?)
Anyway i think it would look great for a male rogue character?
is there a mod out there that can do this?
i'm in the process of trying to see if i can mod my xbox-360 DAO game,
so i'd love to hear if anyone has any ideas.

You would have to create use a variety of tools to recreate the hair specific to a male character. The height and size of the head are different so if you just rename the hair, it would probably end up embedded in a male character's head.

I had the blank screen before, and I just set my video resolution different (I can't remember if I went up or down). Make sure it is set to at least medium textures too. See if this helps.

I'm trying to delete my Dragon Age: Origins Character from my page to start over an it keep's giving me this message ( Unable to connect to the online storage server. )

It seems that they finally flipped the switch on the 30th of January, although for some platforms it may have been a lot earlier than that. Since then we haven't heard a peep from anyone official, so your guess is as good as mine. The online storage servers may have had some problems and the purse string holders didn't give permission to fix them, or the running cost exceeded some threshold related to projected ROI, something like that.
At that time I was researching some stuff related to origins, and now most of my characters are eternally stuck at levels between 1 and 3 on the profile page...

when i tried to get my character up on the keep none of them would show, ending up in the bioware social network chick on the diagnostics thing for origins and got this: 
Invalid persona/game combination
