I've completed the game 5 times now but I only ever managed to get Thane's loyalty twice (he's the only one I ever have trouble with).
Basically I always get hopelessly lost trying to keep up with the target on the catwalks. To the point where I eventually either luck out or get so frustrated that I give up and admit defeat.
I've tried to look for walkthroughs with a map of the catwalks or some kind of specific guide as to which direction to take at each point but I've never managed to find one.
I know I intend to do a sixth run-through when ME3 comes out (I've not tried Engineer yet) and, now that I've discovered this forum, I was wondering if anyone knew of a guide to help with this mission.
It's, without doubt, the most frustrating mission in ME!
Thanks
Julian

So far as I know there isn't really a walkthrough for the catwalk part of Thane's mission. I've found (after flubbing it twice myself out of five times) that the best way is to just keep pace with Talid. The few times he goes out of sight you should run quickly though the doors and wait for him or his bodyguard.
The only time I usually run into trouble is when they make the left turn and start running before Kolyat appears or in the room with the guy you can Charm/Intimidate if you take too long.

Keeping pace with Talid is all very well but it depends which side of the corridor you are in. I always seem to find myself following him through a door only to find I have to go all the way round the block to try to find a way through in the direction he went, by which time I've completely lost him or just run out of time.
All the walkthroughs seem to think it's much easier than I found it but I've never succeeded in that mission in less than about 20 tries. Usually by the 30th attempt I give up!
Regards
Julian

I didn't realize this part was so hard. I've never lost Talid while tailing him.
I always stay on the catwalk to Talid's left (which is where you start out).

Oh, wow, I never thought of youtube! A quick google suggests there's quite a few videos of it so, hopefully, I should be sorted.
Thanks very much!

I don't know what it is. As soon as they switch directions and head north I get hopelessly lost trying to find them when I'm on the left hand side.
It's easier on the right to start but then I lose them later.
Hopefully the youtubes will set me right
Thanks

I know that there is one instance where Talid walks into a shop and it appears that they are heading in a different direction, when in fact they are just... in the shop.

I've just seen that in one of the youtube's. That could very well explain where I've been going wrong all this time
One thing I noticed with all my wandering the wrong way is that there are at least two upgrades available. One near where you start and another one.
I never found out if it's possible to get both upgrades and still complete the mission but I assume it must be.
I've not found any youtubes that have found both upgrades though. Anyone know of any?

Over the past 2 years I've played the game about 4 times.... Last night I decided to watch a Youtube vid for this mission, but I failed yet again....
This mission is just too darn difficult!
