I always used the squad version, all the class guides suggested squad version. Did someone test the improved cryo?
Is Improved Cryo Ammo worth it?

Go with squad, improved does not really improve anything, except for maybe extra freeze duration.

I have never noticed any real difference to be honest...

Improved CA's extra duration is nice, but the squad version will freeze enemies / keep them frozen longer - CA is the only really useful ammo power for squadmates.
Cryo Ammo is great for Shep and all you need is one skillpoint. If you max it, squad CA is the 'best' option imo.

Because of the way the cryo mechanic works, quantity always trumps 'quality' if you will. Like everyone's said, Squad Cryo is the only really worthwhile evolution of CA - otherwise, stick to lvl1 CA.

Unless you play solo in a lot of missions. Then the squad version is obviously useless and also the improved version might help you if you strip defenses of a few enemies, freeze them all and then start killing them. Longer freeze duration is very useful then.

Squad CA is better than Improved CA. I usually only take one point in it, though. As a soldier class, I play as a Sniper. My main weapon is a sniper rifle. I keep a high rate of fire assault rifle (such as Geth pulse rifle or Avenger) and use Cryo on it against husks. For everything else, the Widow rules the field.
Unless I play a Revenant soldier, in which case I just switched from the normal disruptor or incendiary to cryo when husks come around.

+1 for Squad Cryo
The extra freeze duration is next to useless since the enemy will more than likely be dead before you can take advantage.

I used to always set it to squad, but now only set it to improved...I find Improved Cryo suits my game style more so than squad....I play an Infiltrator with a strong preference for ranged combat with the Widow (the Widow very much my primary weapon)...I tend to use my shots to line the foe up (freeze as many as I can, as quickly as I can) and have my squad blast all the frozen foe. I played a game in which I hopped between the two choices and found Improved freezes the foe with noticeably greater speed....A better bonus for my game style.

I used improved for my Vanguard. I like to freeze and charge at someone else. I end up using improved Cryo more than inferno.

I always go with improved cryo because squad cryo is overpowered and it takes away all the fun when your squadmates have frozen most of the enemies and you can't shoot them because they're behind cover.
Plus I'm selfish and don't like sharing am ammo powers

Either don't put a point in CA, put a single point in, or use Squad Cryo. Chances are they'll be dead once they hit the floor any way, 100% damage bonus is amazing enough for the time it lasts with Squad, you don't need it any longer.
