Shepard's trial must have an option to be defiant and deny any accusations.

How will the trial automatically be a plot hole, pray tell?

Right, if we're going to argue the "plot hole - not a plot hole" again ad nauseum go to that thread - on topic in this thread I can dig it - sure why not?  There should be an option to deny, deny, deny.

Denial seems like a fine course of action. I doubt my Shepard would do that though.

Shepard is willing to destroy an entire star system in order to DELAY the reapers. There is no reason what so ever that he wouldn´t simply kill everyone at the trial to leave in order to continue his mission.

We´re talking about the most dangerous bastard in the galaxy here, so what if he´s unarmed and surrounded by 30+ guards? Walk in the park for Shep.

Q: Why did you blow up the Bahak system?
A: I didn't.

A: Never heard of them.
Q: What about your illegal sentient spaceship?
A: I found it.

I think that's the funniest thing I've read all day. Granting I've only been awake for 40 minutes, but still.

Looking at the GI article again, I'm not even exactly sure that the game is going to involve a trial. It's described as an inquiry or interrogation. I hope you can choose to be difficult, but it seems like Shep usually just tells it like is whether you go with Paragon or Renegade. The Renegade is just meaner about it. ("I did what I had to do" vs. "Shut up! You people should be thanking me for what I did!").

Trial, interrogation, inquiry, it doesn't matter. It taking place on Earth is a plothole, so I want to be as uncooperative as possible.

Earth: what about the accusations that you destroyed a mass relay, killing more then 300,000 batarians in the process.
Shephard: ah yes "batarians" a race of intelligent life that apparently had a significant loss of life due to a mass relay being destroyed by an "asteroid". I have dismissed this claim.

Judge: "are aware of what you are accused with Commander Shepard?"
Shepard: "Sure, any evidence?"
Judge: "Plenty, we have witnesses."
*looks around for them*
Judge: "Where are the witnesses"
Grunt: "*Burrrp* What? I was hungry."

Would be much cooler if Shepard admitted it:

Judge: "You stand accused for killing over 300,000 Batarians, what do you plead?"
Shepard: "Only 300,000? I'm losing my edge..."
Judge: "This is above and beyond anything!"
Shepard: "Totaly..."

Being snooty, sure. I can't really support flat out denial as the whole point of the trial is so that Shepard can take one for the team so they don't just blame the Alliance and start a war.

If there's gonna be a trial, then I hope that there will be consequences.

(I'd love it if a renegade Shep could just be ridiculously defiant.)

How about Conrad Verner becoming your lawyer if he lives.

Isn't that what Saren did? We indeed have become our own worst enemy..... Saren. I myself specially. Joining Cerberus, having an AI spaceship. Becoming an undead cyborg. Going totally Renegade in ME2 when I used to be a Paragon in ME1. Changing my mentality to a "at all cost" kind of guy. Man, I became Saren! great job BW, you really know what your doing.

I myself hope to be able to tell the truth.

Space Lawyer: Did you destroy the Bahak system Commander Shepard?

Shepard: Yup, to save the Galaxy from the Reapers.

SL: Right, "the Reapers".

SP: *eyes roll*

SL: So are the reporst of you working for Cerberus true?

SP: Also true. I even joined them, they have great dental.

SL: Wow. And your new Normandy which we have impounded and are ready to take apart?

SP: A gift.

SL: From who?

SP: The Illusive Man

SL: Who?

SP: Cerberus's leader.

Cerberus Commando: He revealed our leader's identity! KILL HIM!

Some guy: THE REAPERS ARE REAL!!!! THEY'RE HERE!!!!

SP: *facepalm*

I support this one!

The trial isn't a plothole - it's Zulu who's a plothole, and wherever he looks he keeps seeing his own reflection.

There's only one way to respond to this.

Put sunglasses on my Shep!

This.

This guy and his "plotholes", please, buddy, give it a rest. Earth is a symbol of Humanity, therefore it makes sense to held there.

QFT that option I definetly expect in game .

The option to give them the middle finger .
And watch them plead for your help , once they find out reapers are devouring earth .

I'm almost sure that at the moment of Trial Council will cancel Shepard's Spectre status. In previous time only one audio record was necessary to do that.

I would prefer to frame some stooge instead of showing up myself. But Bioware definitely won't let me do that.
