Shepard's trial must have an option to be defiant and deny any accusations.

Q: Why did you blow up the Bahak system?
A: I didn't.
Q: Why did you work with Cerberus?
A: Never heard of them.
Q: What about your illegal sentient spaceship?
A: I found it.

Like that. (Since the trial on Earth is going to be a plot hole and all...)

Q: Why did you blow up the Bahak system?
A: The Normandy was the other side of the galaxy. I have expense vouchers and photos. *provides shadow-broker'd doctored evidence of Shepard and crew's visit to a beach resort>
Q: Why did you work with Cerberus?
A: Nah. I did give him a doggy treat, but he is still busy guarding the door for Hades
Q: What about your illegal sentient spaceship?
A: I stole it from the Geth. It was made at the same docks as Soverign. Turns out you were right all along about Saren's ship being of Geth construction. Who knew? It isn't really AI. It is really just a VI designed to trick people into thinking it is an AI as a scare tactic.

I would prefer to frame some stooge instead of showing up myself. But Bioware definitely won't let me do that.

Hmmm Frame Udina !!!! oh that would be so lovely . even Hackett would agree it was all Udina fault !!!

Ah well sadly :crying: no longer possible ...  But let me please punch Udina like Anders did :D

I'm almost sure that at the moment of Trial Council will cancel Shepard's Spectre status. In previous time only one audio record was necessary to do that.

They don't have to cancel his spectre status before the trial. Spectres do answer to the Council. People still seem unable to understand that somehow though.

How can you say that earth is a pothole, why just assume that you know how the beginning of me3 plays out leading up too the trial?..... Zulu everytime I see you post you take the persona of smartass douche. But yes there should be a deny convo option although I'll never use it.

Also, don't forget that the Council's restoring your Spectre status was strictly honorary. Plus they said that if you drew attention to yourself, it would be revoked. Pretty sure the events of "Arrival" qualifies as drawing attention to yourself, if the other events in ME2 didn't already qualify as such. Therefore, your status will certainly be revoked.

Spectre without official status is just dangerous criminal. Council may do whatever they want in such situation: they can send someone to kill or capture Spectre or just say "Not our problem, our Spectre died two years ago. Reinstated? Silly rumor, we've dismissed that claim".
Spectre is very specific status. Law doesn't matter when they work, law doesn't matter when they are punished.

@Arcian

Stop it already.

There is nothing in the dialogue that suggests it is honourary. Nor was there any explicit threat. They didn't revoke his status if he uses his position as a Spectre to intimidate the C-Sec officer on the Citadel itself. He also doesn't seem to have any trouble getting past the sentries around the Krogan homeworld or operating there.

He can return to the Citadel at any time after those events without incident or admonishment.

They even tell him to restrict his activites to the very region they ordered him to stay out of in ME1. It was too politicly dangerous for him to operate in the Terminus systems in ME1... he might start a war. Now they order him back there, yet you insist they are worried about this actions as a Spectre?

Council Lawyer: Commander Shepard you have been accused of being a member of Cerberus…

Shepard: Ah, yes, “Cerberus” the former Alliance black ops organization allegedly gone rogue and now seeks human advancement by any means necessary. I have dismissed that claim.

Council: Really? Then explain that Cerberus symbol on the side of your ship. And on the uniforms of the crew. And the armor, and everything else on board.

Shepard: Is that the symbol for Cerberus? I thought it was the logo for Cord-Hislop Aerospace. I make a few extra credits providing advertising space for them.

Lawyer: Your crew are all known member of Cerberus.

Shepard: Really? My security team is composed mostly of nonhumans. The fact that you believe a human-centric terrorist group like this"Cerberus" would tolerate aliens on their ships shows just how fragile your mental state really is

Lawyer: Sir, this is a serious matter. You stand accused of destroying an entire star system as well as its Relay…

Shepard: Everyone knows that’s impossible. The batarians are a very charismatic and persuasive people. They convinced the Alliance that I was responsible. Just as they convinced you.

Lawyer:   And you have an illegal, not to mention unshackled AI on board your ship.

Shepard: There's no evidence to say it's anything but a sophisticated VI. I tried to get one of those VIs that talk like me being sold on the Citadel. Never did receive it. So I made due.

Shepard: Look. I believe that you believe these charges. But that doesn’t make them true.

Please Bioware... give us options to be total jerks to the court.

I also won't mind having a bit of dialogue that indicates a badass struggle before my Renegade Shepard's arrest.

I would prefer the "I was in the system to investigate rumors of a human terroist cell trying to blow up the system. Seems I was right, but I was too late in there to stop it and barely got out. The only name I managed to get from my investigation was a certain Dr. Kenson. Not sure if it means anything to any of you, though." line...

If the events in Arrival are going to be considered cannon, that doesn't necessarily mean Shepard was involved.  Just like Bring Down the Sky, it would still have happened, but Shepard wasn't there.

In that case I think it would make sense if Hacket would call Shepard in to testify as to the legitimacy of the Reaper threat in defense of the operative who was actually responsible (maybe a new human squad member).  That way, there's still a trial, still a review and interrogation of Shepard's past actions, but our choices are still accounted for.

^^^^ this is no where near relevant, and beyond further comment...................

Personally, this 'trial' sounds like it's gonna more like a "lynchin'", by the immature speculation going on here........

The simple fact is, I myself, will surrender to the proper authorities in due time.

No one will force me to do anything else, until that time, you got ME??!!!

I don't get why Shepard is supposed to be dumb as a brick with the diplomatic etiquette of a raging bull in a china shop...

Just do like any 'great' person when confronted with touchy acusations: Deny everything.

"Listen to me... I did not have explosions with that mass relay..."

I still think the trial of renegade shep should start like this.

Shep :"Judge guy i wanna reinstate my request".
Judge :"No Commander Shepard for the last time you will not be allowed to enter my count room in combat gear or with weapons - this also INCLUDES a big No to any portable tactical nuclear weapons".
Shep. :"Awww.."
