Hawke can't die. So that doesn't work. :wizard:

Hmm. It's funny I was thinking at work today about how great a HBO or Starz Dragon Age series would be. Here would be my wishlist.
The Warden: Andy Whitfeild
Morrigan: Eva Green
Alistair: Dustin Clare
Leliana: Antje Traue
Sten: Ray Stevenson
Duncan: Mads Mikkelsen
Loghain: Sean Bean

Hawke: Jonathon Rhys Meyers
Isabella: ?
Anders: Hans Matheson
Aveline: Diane Kruger
Varric: Andy Serkis
Bethany: Kerry Condon
Carver: Peter Mooney
Cassandra: Keira Knightley
Orsino: John Hannah
Meredith: Lucy Lawless
The Arishok: Kevin Durand

I had thought about Diane Kruger for Aveline, need to toughen her up a bit though.

I can see John Hannah pulling off a late-game Orsino, not in looks but in a character on the edge.

 Nice list. I think Andy Serkis would make a better Varric in the OP though.

If its dragon age 2 we are talking then Uwe Boll would be a excellent executive producer.

vin diesel for the warden, anyone?

Jason Statham should be the warden because he sounds and looks like the warden from the Sacred Ashes Trailer

Vin Diesel is more fit to play the role of Kratos( God of War)

Hawke: Christian Bale
Merrill: Carey Mulligan
Warden: Sean Bean
Isabela: can't think of a good choice. Megan Fox has that look though.
Cassandra: Milla Jovovich
Varric: Jack Black or Philip Seymour Hoffman
Fenris: Jonathan Rhys Meyers
Bethany: Emily Blunt
Aveline: Gemma Arterton
Anders: Nicholas Cage (perfect choice) ~

James Mcevoy or as Orsino, Simon Pegg or Nathan Fillion as Anders, Merrill Eve Myles (the voice actor), Ryan Gosling as Carver.

Didn't see Sabastian in there so Jonathan Rhyes Meyers for that part.

Dragon Age I cast:
Ewan McGregor as Alistair. Not in his Scottish accent though.
Liz Hurley as Morrigan
Audrey Tautou as Leliana
Daniel Day-Lewis as Loghain
Hellen Mirren as Wynne
Can't think of a Zev, Oghren or Sten off the top of my head.
Warden, if male: Daniel Craig or Jonathan Rhys Meyers, depending on the style you go for. I played it as an older, harsh commander/warrior (DC), and as a young, intellectual and corruptable mage (JRM).

Wow. Look at all those white faces. That's why I prefer the game to Hollywood: at least I can force some colour in there.

Well, you can get a brown warden in there, but I don't think it would work for the rest of the cast if you are staying true to the game. I played with a brown warden, but even then it was a little odd to have white human noble parents.

Ferelden seems to be a fairly white society based on medieval England with Irish names. It might be interested to make the Antivans indian in a DA:O movie. Indian Zev?

The subject of multiculturalism in rpgs is probably worth a thread all by itself.

Staying true to my game gave me a brown Hawke, Bethany, Carver, Leandra and Gamlen. That was true to the game.

Edit: My original comment about the white faces wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, it was aimed at Hollywood's trend with the OP's original longer list in mind.

In DA2, yes.

In DA:O Fereldens were basically white - I can't think of a single dark skinned npc who was a Ferelden. It would have made more sense to make a dark skinned Rivaini origin story for the game actually, or similar. I think catering for different racial types shouldn't just be allowing you to change a slider. There should be a plot around it. DA2 was a step in the right way by allowing your family to be dark, but it would be nice if there was some more justification around it.

In the end, I had in my head 'my family immigrated from somewhere else a few generations back' to fill in the gap. Not originally Ferelden.

The OP's selected actors are too pricey for these roles, specially in an HBO direct to cable feature and specially that entire cast. With that said, not being confined to HBO/cable TV some actors I think could get the look/persona of the characters down are:

Alistair = Jamie Bamber

Morrigan = Anne Hathaway (Pic)
*That pic link even has Hathaway in a dress with a Morrigan-esque cut to the top. She could do this. Trust that. She can play wicked. Don't let her soft roles dissuade you.

Leliana = Isla Fisher (Pic)

Wynne = Helen Mirren

Flemeth = Kate Mulgrew ... duh. :)

My idea for a film would be to remove the Warden, ala The Darkspawn Chronicles. Except in the film the good guys can win. Alistair is the lead character.

Aside from Isla Fisher (I think www.buzzine.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/05/9_melanie_laurent_20090520.jpg is bettter) I seriously don't know how anyone could see anyone else in the roles you just mentioned. They're exactly what I see.

As for Dragon age 2:

Isabela: Hmm... it's a pity Naome Lenoir doesn't act...

Merrill: Wont Eve Myles, the voice actress do ok? Well, the other option is dying Joanna Page's hair black. She's proper Welsh and cute as a button: http://www.contactmu...age_2640642.jpg

Aveline: Found this image of Emily Blunt which made me wonder... http://howtobearedhe...051-271x359.jpg

Bethany depends on the Hawke.

Totally stuck on the guys though.
