Haha, yes, if I made Bethany a Grey Warden, my Hawke would probably hope that Stroud keeps his taint to himself.

Funny I was about to type the same thing.

But Nathaniel is the more likely 'hook up' option for Bethany. After all she was with him during his segment, and he looked rather awkward and embarassed when he found out you were her sibling.

I'm curious why folk regard being a grey warden as any less of a gilded cage than being a circle mage. You're still torn from whatever family and life you had previously, forced to live amongst them and do as you're told for the rest of your life, and are never permitted to leave.

They might not lock you in a windowless tower but it's hardly something I'd define as freedom. The shenanigans the Warden gets up to in Origins aren't representative.

He will probably explore her Deep Roads.

Well since my Mage Warden from DAO killed his father and made Nate a good Grey Warden and restored the Howe name, I don't mind if he dates my sister...

Remember, this is the guy you're letting Bethany go with.

Yes but the fact that she is a Warden frees her from the reach of the Templars and enables her to become a stronger force in her own right. In my mind, her ability to become a stronger Mage through the ranks of the Wardens would benefit her more than playing hop scotch with some kids in the circle...

She's plauged by nightmares (she's one of the ones that has trouble their whole life), can't have children, fights often, and in general has a harder time coming to terms with being a Warden than Carver. In the circle, she becomes a full mage early and begans teaching and seems to enjoy it. She only has problems with one templar and you kill that one during a quest with Anders. She's better off in the circle. Carver on the other hand, much better for him to become a warden.

Bethany goes to the Circle
PROS:
Can have babies (and I don't mean with your Hawke sicko... even if she is the most attractive female in the game)

But they can not keep those babies right? Didn't Wynne have a kid and the templars took him from her?

No fraternization is allowed in the Gallows circle anyway.
Also Grey Wardens can have children. Fiona says hi.

Being a Warden is a far cry from being a Circle mage...Yes you have to answer to higher ups but you can advance in the ranks and become a shot caller...Then whose to say you can't do as you like as long as you know that your responsibility is the darkspawn....In the Circle, you are limited in every aspect of your life...Circle Mage, not a good look...

If you aren't a mage yourself and you plan to side with templars in the end.....Warden Bethany is the only healer option you have. That pretty much made the choice for me. I suppose I also liked having 2 healers for the Ancient Rock Wraith (her and Anders) since that fight is totally about just staying alive and not dying.

No problem if you don't mind metagaming. In the end she is free from the circle, because there are no circles anymore. She runs away with Hawke, they seperate, she meets my warden and they all lived happily ever after... till the taint killed my warden.

We also know that the Circles have rebelled, so I figure that a Circle Bethany becomes an apostate again after the events of Dragon Age 2. I hope some pride demon sat on the phylacteries.

My money's on my warden. Though, he may be to busy with killing High Dragons, Spectral Dragons, Bloodmages, Varterrals, Flesh Golems, Pride, Desire, Sloth, Hunger and Rage Demons, Abominations, Genlocks, Hurlocks, Shrieks, Ogres, Broodmothers, Werewolves, Carta, Architects, Ghouls, War Heros, Arls that go crazy for power, insane cultists and Arch Demons, Also he'd probably be too busy, ending Blights, ending curses, saving circles, meddling in dwarven politics, avenging the death of most of his family, amassing armies, putting friends on the throne, meddling in human politics, foiling assassination attempts, saving the damsel, patching the fade, making trade routes safe, clearing out sections of the deep roads saving cities, saving marriages, finding cats and getting drunk with a red haired dwarf with an oversized axe, to be bothered with trivial things like sex and relationships.

I'm sorry, I just don't see Bethany as Circle Mage tutor or a mother....She is too powerful to be locked away in the Gallows.  Her plight would be better served with the Wardens...In DA 3 she could be ally that could turn the tide in the Mage-Templar battle...One way or another...

What in the world suggests that Bethany is anything more than an average mage?

Bethany is an average mage. I don't see her as particuarly powerful. Hawke's a badass though, but that's just because he's FIST OF THE MAKERIN' PULL OF THE ABYSSIN' HORRORIN' AND CHAIN LIGHTNININ'. It's a word, it's in the Becktionary. Also, I see her as being more directly involved as a mage in the circle. As a warden she shouldn't be involved at all. She's breaking a big rule by getting involved at the end.

The simple fact that she's about the only mage in DA2 tht doesn't go all Bloodmagey when things get the least bit stressful. That puts her ahead of even the First Enchanter.

Her not being a bloodmage doesn't make her a good mage. Well, morally good maybe, though the morality of bloodmagic is debatable.

I think people view the wardens with rose tinted glasses. You have to remember that you played the highest ranking warden in Fereldan post-ostagar (since alistair is lame, and Riordan dies). The rank and file wardens are subject to chain of command and don't have the freedom your PC had. The wardens in general are not all like Duncan. He even says this.

Bethany has to have Stroud over her!

Only if you bring both her and Anders to the Deep Road Expedition.

Damn! I did not know she couldn't become a grey warden if Andres wasn't with you. Luckly I choose him to come with me
