I told Aveline that I wasn't ready to enter the qunari compound yet. After that, I returned later to the docks at night, and she was being attacked by the guards who were standing there by her during the day.

I saw that bug the other day as well and thought it was kinda funny
but id rather see the Anders rivalry/romance ending where he can be persuaded to side with the templars adressed first, pretty please. :innocent:

As discussed in this thread, Anders is supposed to stay with a PC who has achieved full friendship or rivalry even if the PC sides with the templars. This doesn't happen.
Could we please get some official word on this?

...doesnt this make since though. You spare him only to have him fight FOR the templars in the end game. The fact that Hawke makes him do it seems insulting to what Anders/Justice/Vengence stand for...

I have also seen this with Aveline during my v1.01 playthrough.
I would add that if you enter the Qunari compound at any time during act 2 and leave while the rest of your party is on "hold" mode, you can cause a glitch that can potentially result in a hang/frozen game:

Details:
Place of Occurrance: Qunari compound, day, Act 2 (this occurs with Patch 1.02)
Frequency of Occurrance: Always
Consistency in Reproducing: Always hangs, sometimes does not recover
Steps:
1. Position each party member inside the Qunari compound near Arishok
2. Activate hold mode
3. Cause controlled party member to leave the compound quickly
4. The gates close behind
5. Switch back and forth between the party member outside the compound and one of the party members still inside the compound
Result: Sometimes the game permanently hangs

Granted, most of the players who want to see this story arc plan to pursue the rivalry romance with him, but no path, friendship or rivalry, romance or no romance, will allow you to convince him to stay. He will always leave and ambush the party later.

I had this problem before 1.02
Installed 1.02 yesterday
Hawke just died in the Haunted quest (Act 3) and suffered no injury after being revived by Anders with Regroup. Aveline also died in the same fight and was revived by Anders but unlike Hawke she did have an inury penalty as normal.
Hawke has no health portion reserve, no injury symbol and most important, health before death was 233 / 233 and after death was 233 / 233. Definitely no injury penalty of any kind for Hawke deaths. Although he can drink inury potions equal to the number of times he has died recently, there is no point in doing so.

You should try a fresh character (without mods).

can't say for 1.02, but in my previous game with 1.01 I never used those spells and the problem with injury occurred every single time

The rivalry side from The Last Straw beginning to end is completely bugged. It defaults to friendship path for some reason. *And is very jarring*

it seems you only have to hover your mouse over your controlled party member's portrait to fix it each time.

From the picture, it seems that Dragon Age 2 is running while you're trying to apply the patch. Exit DA2. Make sure the process is not running in Task Manager (or restart pc). Then, apply patch. For added security (may not be needed but I never trust software), reboot after the patch is applied. Then, start DA2.

I had the problem for a whole week before 1.02 and I know it didnt matter how Hawke returned (revive spell or naturally at the end of a fight) he always had no injury penalties at all.
Since 1.02 I've only revived him magically with Anders, will have to test if a natural return gives a penalty, but I doubt it (as mentioned, Anders can revive Aveline and she gets the full injury penalty, so its not the spell alone, unless the spell only messes things up when Hawke is the target).
Will try to get him killed in a fight and let him pop back up naturally at the end and see what happens then ...

Details:
Place of Occurrance: Wounded Coast, Slaver Holding Cave, others (Patch 1.02)
Frequency of Occurrance: Causes repeating audio loop 100% of the time, inability to target roughly 30% of the time
Consistency in Reproducing: Always
Steps:
1. Use Gravitic Ring at a point where enemies must pass through to reach party
2. When Assassin/Rogue NPC attempts to stealth while in the Gravitic Ring, repeating audio loop of stealth bottle breaking sound is heard
3. Target enemy in the center of Gravitic Ring with ranged attack or talent (For example, attempt to fire ranged weapon or cast single target spell such as Winter's Grasp, or Varric/rogue talents, such as Kickback, Pinning Shot).
Result: About 30% of the time the attack or talent is not activated and the listed attack disappears from the party member status description bar. When this occurs, for the remainder of the Gravitic Ring duration, the enemy in the center of the Gravitic Ring can be hurt by AoE attacks, but not directly.

From that Anders moment in act 3 all aspects of Anders romance and normal rivalry defaults to the friendship path. There is no rivalry path dialog or branching at all. You get a friendship conversation if you side with the mages and the same conversation that makes no sense if you are on the rivalry path. The post 'moment' conversation makes no sense on the rivalry path either, it is the friendship dialog. (Jennifer Helper acknowledged that this was a bug when I PMed her).
So basically it seems that during the final straw the rivalry flag is ignored. This is on my 360 version as well (I know this is the pc thread but thought I'd add it seems to be cross platform)

If I choose any option other than "Destroy" any of the Evil Tome, the quest cannot be completed at all, and I can never get the Evil Grimoire
Is this intended?
