I installed the patch 1.02, and still have a serious issue. Before finding this thread I already reported it here:

Hi,
The game keeps crashing during the first "movie" - after the conversation between the dwarf and the chantry girl i.e. after the I play through the first few minutes when the dwarf is telling the false story. After this I am able to configure my characters appearance etc. and then when the cut scene starts the game always crashes during the same point. I have tried updating my drivers, downloading the patch and re-installing the game but nothing works. Please help.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Should add that I am running the game on a PC, Windows 7 64-Bit.
I have exactly the same issue with patch 1.02. First the video in the cutscene freezes and the sound continues, I hear as somebody is running. Then the game folds like when pressing alt-tab. In the task manager I can see that the application doesn't respond. I have the only choice to close it, as switching to it doesn't provide any results.
Windows 7 64-bit, GeForce GTX570, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
All settings are on max, except VSync which is off. Hi-res textures are installed. During the false story battle everything works flawless with these settings without any slight resemblance of any lag. So it doesn't look like a performance issue.
I tried a few more times. It actually crashes randomly. Looks exactly like the crashes I had with the demo in dx11. I am sure switching to dx9 will solve my issue, but it won't satisfy me. I spent $400 on a new graphics card specifically to play Dragon Age 2 in dx11. I am sure I could play it quite fine in dx9 even with my old GTX260.
I will try lowering some setting down to finally switching to dx9. I will post it here if I find any combination that makes my game stable in dx11. If not, then it is likely that I will end up playing The Witcher 2 in the end. I would never preorder Bioware Signature Edition if I knew the game will end up to be
that buggy and unstable, and that I still will have major issues even after the second patch.
Added: It looks like updating of graphics card's BIOS solved my issue. I never did that before, so I haven't even thought about it at first. Now I can play in dx11 with everything on max.
