i realize this isnt a bug but thought i'd mention it as its really frustrating the slider in cc is really sensitive and hard to use i wondered if maybe it could be made more user friendly or not, i dont know if anyone else has problems trying to make a reasonably decent hawke but finds that the slider skips past things in cc very easily, maybe arrows applied if its possible to make it easier to use, like i said though this isnt really a bug but i wasnt sure what thread to post this in.
Looks like a lag to me. I don't remember having that issue. Have you tried it with lower graphics settings? With dx9 maybe?

the reward is, if i'm not wrong, a staff (an useless staff). But yes, the quest doesn't disappear from the journal untill you reach the third act.

She's referring to the fact that it is very easy to "skip" over CC options with the sliders being the way they are. I too would love to see arrows again!Alexios Cassius wrote...

Hmm... maybe, if you don't handle mouse very well. Or if the mouse itself isn't very good. Or maybe in some other circumstances I am not aware of. Anyway, I haven't expericed such an issue, so it's a bit hard for me to imagine that.cmessaz wrote...

Also I'd like too report that I actually still have some freezes even after I solved that issue with crashes by updating my graphics card's BIOS. But they are now rare enough in order for the game to be still playable. I use dx11 and everything on max, of course. Windows 7 x64, Intel Core 2 Quad 9550, Gigabyte GV-N570OC-13I, 4 GB RAM. I just experienced a freeze right now and decided to report it. I had to close Dragon Age 2 with the task manager.

I also would like to have arrows or even a number system added. I make my Hawke look the same EVERY time. It's just how I play. Some of the sliders for things that change gradually (chin/cheeks/nose components) can be frustrating to use. I currently work it by using references above and below (if the above slider is at 50, I'll know that I place this slider at 25, and after moving that slider to 25 I can move another to 13 and so on - but it's not exact because there are not 'notches').
There were 'notches' and arrows in DAO and it was much easier to use and create a character that looked exactly like you wanted. I hate to be one of those people that does DAO comparisons, but it was the first major difference I noticed when loading up the game. I don't understand why such a simple thing had to be changed.
At any rate, just because you don't appreciate being able to arrange your character's features exactly using arrows or slider notches, doesn't mean it's not an issue for some people.
However, I kind of doubt they will change it in this patch though, if at all. =/
And seriously, ambient lighting in a CC screen sucks. However, this is not a DA2 issue, but a general game issue. For some reason, game devs seem to think that people who are creating their characters need to still be immersed in the game. Well we don't, we need to be able to SEE. We are arranging parts of faces and bodies: what is less immersive than that? You have no idea how many characters I've had to delete in various games because they looked totally different after loading up the first time than they did in the CC screen.
Rant is done now, sorry...

I've hit a bug with The Hanged Man. My male warrior abandoned Fenris to the Magister, so he was taken away. This seems to now have broken The Hanged Man during the day. If I try to go to The Hanged Man - Day, I get the character selection screen, and Fenris is back and locked as the middle option. Completing the team, I'm thrown back into the Magister appearance video sequence. Upon exiting with any option, I'm in an empty Hanged Man. The "Gather Your Group" thing is gone, and the door out is now just a regular door, which opens into a wall. The only other person in building other than the group (with Fenris) is Fenris' sister, near the stairs. She cannot be interacted with.
The only way out is to revert to a save from before entering The Hanged Man.
This is for the PC, Signature Edition, with the Mage/Rogue/Warrior packs installed and patched to 1.02.
Anyone else see this one yet?

I imagine it would look something like this:
Stealth: You enter stealth mode, being absolutely and totally undeniably immune to ANYTHING that hits you while you're using this ability. Even if the universe is shattered to pieces you will still enter stealth no matter what and receive no damage while doing so. Every damage and/or status effect will be absorbed while using this ability. You will also be immediately moved to another place so that abilities like 'Archer's Lance' have no chance of hitting you right after you've entered stealth. This ability has no cooldown and does not cost any stamina, mana, or health.
Ultra Backstab Assassination Vendetta: A combination of the abilities 'Backstab', 'Assassinate' and Vendetta. You teleport behind your enemy, inflicting massive damage, most of the times killing your opponent outright, and ignoring any armor or damage reduction. This ability guarantees a critical hit and you also steal one of whatever kind of health potions your opponent is carrying, which you can then use at will of course. This ability does not require entering stealth mode beforehand, but you can do so just for the hell of it. It has neither cooldown nor any other drawbacks after all. 'Ultra Backstab Assassination Vendetta' has no cooldown and does not cost stamina, mana or health.
Btw. I'm playing on nightmare and most of the times I have no trouble with any fights whatsoever. It says something that the most difficult fight in the whole game is probably the one against "Brekker" during the Quest 'Inside Job'. Why? Solely because of the fact that it includes 3 Boss Type Assassins(more HP and damage than Brekker himself) No, it's not the fight against the High Dragon. Or the fight against an ancient demon like say 'Xebenkeck'. Nope. It's the one against some random Coterie thug from the Undercity.
End of rant & sorry. Doesn't change the fact that it's the truth though. Please buff real bosses and some other underpowered enemy types but ffs, do something about Assassins.

A quick note on assassins though - when they are doing the smoke bomb or backflip animation they are invulnerable (much like mage's teleport). Also, the backstab/stealth has a cooldown it's just incredibly short on Nightmare. My strategy is usually just load up on fire resist (or electric if you're in act 2) and just unleash hell with Rain of Fire (or Thunderstorm); once they pop out, petrify and focus fire... and if you have Black Emporium, the dog is the best assassin bait in the game (and it's immune to fire!)

Assassins are being slightly nerfed in both their health and the damage threshold it takes to break their stealth in the next patch.

Heh, thanks, I'm aware of those little tricks. Especially the dog works great. I try not to use it though as I consider him an "unfair" advantage over people who don't have access to the dog. ^^ Furthermore I always reload when a party member falls unconscious, mostly because I'm afraid of bugs in that context. Partially it's my own fault that I make my life so hard I guess :> Nevertheless Assassins are way overpowered atm imho.

I apologize ahead of time if this issue has been addressed before as I had only skimmed this thread.
However, I am just wondering if this is going to be addressed in the next patch or just issues for people who can already play DA2? I have researched everything I can find on this and tried everything that I have found to no avail.
I am a huge fan of Bioware products and have since they started making games. Bioware has developed a well earned reputation of Bioware = Quality but, this particular product is not helping that. The issues that I have seen/read about so far that plague this game is a major disappointment but I don't blame Bioware, I blame EA for rushing the launch date.
I am so looking forward to playing this game and hope that I can soon. If you need any further information about my system let me know and I will post it as it seems that I have an identical system to so many others with this same issue.

Have you checked if your PhysX drivers are properly installed? Try to reinstall them. What's your graphics card? As far as I know all modern graphics cards should support PhysX. But I have no idea is you have one of those or some outdated graphics card. If that issue was on my PC, chances are I'd get it solved already. But when people ask for advice, I fail at least in 50% of cases. Maybe some one else will be able to help if you provide some more info. Or go for EA tech support if you want a professional.LightagainstBlight wrote...

I have an ATI 3850 HD 512MB Card (as per recommended on game box) with the latest drivers properly installed. I have also installed the latest PhysX drivers multiple times and some older versions. I am not the only one with this issue and it seems no one can get it to work. I find it funny that I can play just about any other new game out there but not this one. Others that have tried to get "help" from EA only get "update drivers" response from support.
I see that the PhysX issue is listed on the first page of this thread. I'm just hoping that it will be resolved in the next patch so that I can enjoy DA2.

That's why I prefer nVidia over ATI. I have heard that ATI doesn't support PhysX, but that was a very long ago. Things might have changed. I had a very serious issue with this game too (see my previous posts in this thread), but it turned out to be my graphics card manufacturer's fault. Now it works close to perfect. I had only one freeze yet. I guess I am just more lucky than some others.
I hope the next patch will help you. By the way, what is your graphics card manufacturer's name (not the same as GPU manufacturer) and exact model?
Just got another thought on that issue... Have you tried to manually set the PhysX to be handled either by GPU or CPU? I mean by GPU only or by CPU only. Not sure if you can set that with ATI, as I am completely unfamiliar with their control panel's interface. With nVidia I get a significant performance improvement when I force the GPU to always handle PhysX.

Is the Exiled Prince going to be fixed in the next patch? My game still crashes after I fight Lady Hariman and her desire demon, and attempt to go back to the Harriman's cellar. Even if I skip that quest and try the Exiled Prince's quest in act three, my game crashes as I enter the Keep at night.
I'd like to second this (even though I haven't gotten to act 3 yet, so I'm unfamiliar with the crashing problem in that particular instance). Lately I've been attempting to finish this quest with 2 different characters. On both of them, I'm able to successfully defeat Lady Harriman and the demon, but then afterwards I've been unable to get back to the cellar and talk with Flora (it's either that, or, on the off chance that I do manage to load back into the cellar, the game subsequently crashes in the middle of the conversation).
And incidentally, please fix the crashing problem that occurs when trying to get to the Black Emporium. Compared to the above problem, it only happens intermittently, but the issue is still there.

I've never build a system with an nVidia card, always used ATI and I've never had any issues. PhysX is designed to work with GPU and that is why your system runs better with the way you have it. PhysX is a proprietary realtime physics engine middleware SDK. Basically PhysX was developed for hardware acceleration of video cards to relieve the cpu work load. As far as my understanding is PhysX, by today's standards, is supposed to be compatible/usable by other manufacturers of video cards. By the way my "manufacturer" is Sapphire which doesn't make a whole lot of difference. I have had just about every "brand" of ATI Radeon card that is out there without any issues. Then again I build strickly AMD systems.
I have gone through my ATI controller panel and did not see anything for controlling PhysX handling.

I just searched for Sapphire ATI3850HD and found this. Not sure if it is your graphics card or not, but it is really outdated. I haven't found any mention of PhysX support in its specs. Even if you have a different make, with the same GPU support for different technologies should be the same. The only thing I got clear is that it doesn't support dx11.
One thing came into my mind. Try to uninstall PhysX drivers completely and see if you can run the game without PhysX at all.

Edit: I found that if I go back several saves and do the questioning beliefs for Merrill BEFORE I find the elven ring then the romance works. Otherwise if I don't then only the ring triggers when you see Merrill.

NVIDIA bought AGEIA, the company that made PhysX. Since then they've made it so PhysX will only run on NVIDIA GPUs.
