Patch 1.03 - Planning and Prioritization

- Updated graphics card drivers yesterday to the newest ones
- installed patch 1.02 successful
A few days ago a strange bug started to appear, my game freezed every now and then, I could and still can work around it with just hitting ALT + TAB and because of that I tried the upper mentioned options, thought it would be because of Aveline's Retaliation Skill that in fact was active when the bug showed his ugly face.
But neither installing Patch 1.02 nor erasing the skill, skill effects and the skill itself from her tactics board have solved the problem, the freeze still hits my game every now and then on all kind of occassions: walking around Vicomtes manor, speaking to people, in battle, and so on.
Also tried to play around with the video setting, higher / lower resolution, VSync, Anti Aliasing And Anisotropic Filters at all kind of rates and combinations, nothing helped out of it.
But strangely, everytime I use ALT + TAB or other keys that minimize the DA II window, after reentering it the game runs smooth again for about 5 Minutes, then freezes again, but the trick helps out again.
Also to say that it came up for the very first time when I'd been to the Sunder Hills with Aveline in the first part of her mission "As it should be" after we already had made most of the way to the target of this area.
Well, it's good that you can work around it that easily, but it isn absolutely not enjoyable when you have to play like that throughout the whole game.
I so hoped Patch 1.02 would solve the problem when I read that Aveline's Retaliation-Skill may cause it and so have been very dissapointed that it still shows up.

>Player did not make love to Leliana
>Player did not romance Leliana
>Anders died at Vigil's Keep
I did both with Leliana, and Anders survived Vigil's Keep only to lose a drinking contest.

While i do not wish to appear ungreatful, but i am currently sitting on a savegame i would have loved to complete, only to find out that this new patch does not fix the problem with the Slowmo Hawke and all the companion stuff, unless i start a new game.
I wouldn't mind that as much, if the importflags would be imported properly. Since this seems to be a priorisation thread, i'd like to say:
Fix the import problems first.
I know there are other bugs which prevent people from playing the game at all, but as far as i am concerned this import flags problem does prevent me from playing as well. To me the whole point of this game is the story and without a fix for the Import Flags there is no real point in playing at all.
I really would like to stress how important that is for me. So please, please, please... pretty please... i would appericate a hotfix for this one.
I do not really feel like waiting another month for a "100 bug fixes" patch. I'd rather have an "Import Savegames" Fix patch next week and another minor patch after that. I don't think i'll wait another month for it.

I apologize if this has been answered somewhere, but how do you use the console to check imported gamestates? I don't think I've seen anything wrong with mine, but I wouldn't mind giving it a once over just to be sure.LordHuffnPuff wrote...

Nathaniel quest.

Excellent, thank you. So I ran that, and it seems that most of it is correct. However, there were some odd glitches in there. It thinks that Anders is dead and Nathaniel left the Grey Wardens, neither of which actually happened. Even more odd, because I've gotten the Nathaniel quest with this import before, and he's still alive and makes no mention of finding Anders's corpse. The game also seems to think Leliana slept with Isabela, which didn't happen. And it claims I never romances or slept with Morrigan, also untrue. Very strange.Kajan451 wrote...

I think thats because of something like this
if(steamfound)
{
message("use steam for update");
}
is there instead of
if (da2found)
{
patch;
}
else if(steamfound)
{
message("your steam version is not updated");
}
else
{
message("dragon age 2 not found");
}
_____________
Also, after update my steam version can't load saves anymore, it tells me that it can't find black emporium.

[*]Current issues that require new playthroughs (or older saves) in 1.02[/b]
- Slo-mo hawke (as well as other stat modifiers) are not retroactively
fixed. The problem will not reoccur or get worse but whatever value you
currently have will be stuck with you for now (there are many helpful
threads about editting the save to manually fix the issue in the mean
time)
Wow. I feel sorry for the console players who got this bug. They had a game breaking bug with now way to fix it for over a month assuming that 1.02 would finally allow them to play again, only to find out they will have to wait for 1.03 or latter. This really shows there needs to be a greater willingness to apply small hotfix patches for gamebreaking issues and not wait for huge patches with hundreds of fixes to go though extensive testing and certification.

Those are exactly the same bugs I'm having with my import! I guess it explains why I can't initiate Finding Nathaniel quest even when I took him with me to the final boss, did his personal quest and he had 90+ approval. And Morrigan incorrect flags will really bug the hell out of me if she ever appears in addon or DA3.Big_Chief wrote...

Also, I think I already said this once, and I don't want to be a total broken record, but I really want to see the full rival path with Anders. I've heard bits of dialogue that people have dug out of the game files and posted on YouTube, and his siding-with-the-templars Gallows conversation that someone got to with the dev console, but so far I've yet to find anyone who triggered them within the game.
Personally, while I understand -- and share -- the frustration with messed-up imports (I never got Nathaniel's cameo even though he's supposed to be alive, for instance), I'd also like to see this game work to the fullest, which in certain character arcs it really doesn't, right now.

After talking to the design team it was established that this quest was supposed to be cut from the game and somehow remnants of it stuck around in some fashion. Rest assure it has no affect on anything going forward (and even when it was in the game it was a very brief conversation with not plot modifying flags). Sorry for the confusion.
First of all, thanks for your many replies! As to the above - sorry, but that doesn't make sense. Merril's entire Act 3 quest is still there and works fine, just the final part - the "mourning" bit comes at the start of it, as opposed to the end after the main quest/mission is done... Unless you mean that just the last part (Merril at her place, crying) is what was supposed to be omitted?
Err... "Mourning" is, or was supposed to be, a short catch-up quest at the beginning of Act 2. It's about Hawke's sibling.
Merrill's Act 3 quest is fixed.
I think I actually got this to trigger once. It mentions Leandra going to visit Bethany at the Circle often. Merril's approval at the time was pretty neutral, however, and I've not gotten it since.
That quest is not called "mourning". It's called "Consoling words". And it has always worked.
If you take your sibling to the deep roads it is called Mourning. And it still auto-completes. Consoling Words has always worked.
Anyway, my game has been acting a little strange since the patch. I mostly noticed this duirng the Isabella romance scene in the beggining of act 2 but it's an issue that has been there since before the first patch. Every so often before a line of dialouge there will be a brief white flash over a character. There was one I saw when Varic told me about Serving in the Red Iron. But it was so short it was barely noticable. Now it seems to happen more often and is prominent enough to be distracting. There's a white flash over Hawke when selecting most dialouge during the first Isabella love scene. It never happened before the patch.

My general flow for leveling up all characters is to do abilities first, to see how my strategy will advance, then do attributes to support that strategy. So:
1. Click character portrait level up arrow
2. Click abilities and set them, then click done
3. Click attributes and set them, then click done
4. Click on next portrait from attributes screen and repeat setting abilities for next character
The new UI broke this. Now I have to cancel all the way out of the attributes screen and back to the game, then reclick on a portrait to start the process all over again.
I don't understand why this was changed. Why does clicking on the level up arrow in the portrait from the attributes or abilities page *not* bring up the character sheet where you can pick either abilities or attributes to change? It doesn't make sense and added in a bunch of clicks just to level up.

Thank you a lot for the patch! But as was said above, it didn't fix import save games issues (OC+Awakening+all DLC). When checking the world state with console, I still get "didn't romance Leliana", "Warden didn't sleep with Leliana" (my warden successfully romanced her).
Also "Anders died" and "Nathaniel left the wardens". When I check the save game with editor I see that Nathaniel died in Vigil's Keep siege. I defended Amaranthine and left Nathaniel and Anders in fully upgraded Vigil's Keep so none of my characters died in epilogue. But game still thinks that Vigil's Keep was destroyed and all the defenders were killed. No "finding Nathaniel" quest for me again, I guess.
Tried it on the old save and on newly made one (new game with save game import).
There is a player created mod that 99% fixes ALL import issues when importing from DAO, DAOA, etc to DA2![]()
social.bioware.com/project/4364/
use that until BW comes out with 1.03 and fixes things. I can confirm it works great!
Thank you for the suggestion but I already know about this fix and mentioned it in my other posts.
The same for Nathaniel considered dead after all my efforts to keep everyone alive. Oh well.
What troubles me that the mod is a temporary solution. It doesn't incorporate its fixes in our save games. So in the end we need to wait and hope that Bioware will find a way to address this issue.

Yeah, clicking on the level-up arrows on the portrait doesn't work at all any more for me. It doesn't do anything, other than selecting the character in question.
Edit: Never mind! Saving and reloading seems to have fixed it.

Also, to copy over my post from the other thread: post-campaign saves have a quest marker in your house despite the fact there isn't any other quest obtainable at this time. Not a big deal, but I hope someone takes note.
