This error has not been resolved by the 1.02 patch.

Over one month since launch, no legitimate way to play the game.



Guys...I appreciate that over 100 bugs were fixed in 1.02, but you seriously couldn't fix a major one like this? :/

It seems i have found a solution for my problem with the steam version not starting up after the patch.You have to go to DA2 in the gamelist,right click the icon,go to properties and then the third tab from above.Local files,then you have 4 tabs(copy from gamefiles etc).Now you push the check integrity from gamecache.Steam checks this:Problem solved

Bioware are liable. If you buy goods from a department store and they are faulty you have a right to return them. Bioware has released a bugged unplayable game for many of us and we should not have to wait for patches but be given a refund or another game. I just bought a GTX 580 so there's no reason I shouldn't be able to run DA2 in DX11 but all it does is crash unless I use DX9. So why advertise it as DX 11 compatible?? I loved Mass Effect 2 and DA Origin but this is a huge disappointment. I don't know what to do and I'm NOT HAPPY to play it in DX9 when I have a $500 DX11 card!!! NOT GOOD ENOUGH BIOWARE.

There remains other BUGS include BEX error, etc. Patches dont repair nothing of it at all.... There is no way how to play it without crack. After month waiting, where nothing happened about it maybe i start play to cracked version, because there is no info, if it will be patched... This was my last pre-ordered game from EA/Bioware, i never make this silly stuff like pre-ordering when i am not sure if they do the same bugged game in future.... I can spend my money on other games, which i will be able even to launch....

They actually gave ME2 for free to everyone who bougth da2. I see it in the same way you do, but unfortunately you have already bought me2 before.

Tactics screen bug:

Specified item is often being 'forgotten'.

Repeat:

-Set a tactic like self:health<25% | Use item:health potion.
-Drag this tactic to the top of the sequence
-Swap to another party members tactics screen (via portrait).
-Swap back to member you just set the item use tactic for...

Its almost guaranteed to have 'forgotten' the health potion part of the tactic (condition remains).

Ways to avoid:
-Drag a blank tactic to the sequence position, then set up the conditional/item use.
-Immediately leave all tactics screens to game world.

This tends to make the item save, provided you don't try to move it in the sequence again.

I think the hero of Dragon Age 3 should be named Luke Barrett.

To be serious, the fact that Bioware has developers who actually communicate with us on issues and who aren't doing the regular PR stuff or completely remain silent, that's what makes Bioware so much more likable than many other game developers.

I still get this message in the game's activation process; when it ask me to Log-in:

"Check your Internet connection. If the problem persists, the server might be temporarily unavailable".

I'm sure that the e-mail and password are correct, otherwise i couldn't Log-in here.

Fenris' talk with the dog in act 2 still does not trigger for me when the romance is active.

Edit: This may only be a problem in games where the romance with him is active.

I'm not so sure; if installing a later driver makes the huge difference that it has to a lot of people, does that not suggest that the problems might - at least in part - be driver related?

Exactly! I'm running the game on a PC with an ATI Radeon 5770 HD card. Never had a problem with DX11 enabled. 
If it was a problem with the game then everyone would have experienced the same issue, no?

[edit] And it is no coincidence that ONLY NVidia users are having the problem. Dodgy NVidia DX11 drivers.
BioWare may be working with these guys to get the problems fixed, but it is NOT BioWare's fault.

Unfortunatelly the issue with missing cut scene dialogs has not been fixed yet. see this thread for details: http://social.biowar...index/6553793/1


I observed the following that might all be related to the same issue:
- Cut scenes often start with the second dialog and, if there is none, with the dialog wheel
- Actions, that would trigger a one-line-dialog, do not trigger in most cases (e.g. clicking on Sandal in Hawke Estate only sometimes triggers him saying something about the scary tower to which his father replies that he means the Gallows and that he agrees; in most cases this just starts with Bodhan's line)
- Only one out of ten examination points in Hawke Estate and Gamlen's home trigger Hawke to say his line and it is not always the same point that works
- The barrel puzzle in the Templar Halls is not solvable for me; clicking on the barrels does not move them in any direction, unless I restart my PC and click on them; then it works for one, two barrels and stops working again
- The companion's banter does almost always start with the second line

I wonder if this cutscene problem may be down to your graphics card not coping...
Try lowering your graphics settings to Medium or Low, then load your saved game prior to the curscene and see what happens.
My guess is that it will play out properly, but this is just my guess.

Also run FRAPS on your current settings and have a look at the frame rate. If it's below an average of 30 per second you may have to consider tuning down your settings.

No. They just fixed the game manually from driver. I don't know details, usually it is done by changing shader code. If bioware tested the game before release, they could fix their code themselves.

I should note at this point that I am using a rather old Single Core PC with an old nVidia Geforce 7600 GS (it does match the minimum requirements of DA2, though). I tried DA2 with both, low and medium graphics, but with no effect to this issue. As I am running the game on Windows XP and due to my old card I cannot use DX11. Also, in the thread I linked, people using any kind of PC (new, old, nVidia, ATI, DX9, DX11) all see the same basic issue with missing cutscenes.

Ok, must be the game glitching then...funny though, I've only ever experienced this twice in my three playthroughs.
But then, after reloading the last save the problem is gone! Weird.

Granted I haven't read through all 8 pages to see if this has been reported yet...

If you install The Exiled Prince before you ever play the game the Chantry board is just a pretty graphic. There are no quests listed on it and it cannot be interacted with in any way. From what I have read in other threads it seems like some people can or have previously accessed quests off of this board?

I started to have this issue lately first it occurs in 1.01 but only once, now in 1.02 , its every 2-3 cutscenes. And all correct itself after the reload. Strange thing.

I had the same error on a laptop runing seven home premium x64. But also the configuration executable crashed at launch. ANd some other stuff not regarding dragon age2 bugged. I reinstalled all the drivers. But it didn't changed anything. I had only a administrator account without any restrictions. I tried with, without security suite. I tried to see if some process running in background were the problem. But nothing worked
So the only thing to do was a reinstallation of seven.  Now, no more this error, it runs very well. No crash aswell
My guess is that something on my windows installation was corrupt and caused all these bug not all related to dragon age II.

Notice : I reinstalled a seven pro x64. But Idon't think it is a seven home premium related problem. At the begining all was working perfect. Then some bugs appeared.

Maybe your solution maybe not.
