My Specs:
AMD Phenom II x4 965 (stock 3.8)
ATI XFX HD 5870 1GB (stock 850/1200 MHz)
4GB DDR3 RAM (1333 MHz)
Gigabyte MA-770t UD3P Mobo
Win 7 x64 Professional Edition

After applying the latest patch.  Running the game at 'High Settings' at 8x AA in 1920x1080 runs like a DREAM now.  I get solid 60 fps which is nice.  GPU usage hovers around 95%, its taking my card to the max.  BUT.....DX11 performance is still heavily bugged.  Enabling dx11 settings takes my fps from 60 (at HIGH settings max) down to a measley 10-25.  At that framerate, the game is still unplayable.  The frames can even dip down to 11-13 during cut scenes.  AndI have decent enough hardware in which this should not be the case.  So for me the latest patch fixed the game at 'High' Settings but 'Very High' dx11 is still very BUGGED.  Please address these issues in next patch.

Hmm so I started a new game and damage resistance in the character screen seems to be stuck at 0%, for both Hawke and the rest of the party. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I don't think that's a bug. Remember that you can only raise damage resistance by using certain gear and taking certain skills. Otherwise it's not going to increase. It reports increases correctly for me (on PC) Are you sure it's not just because you haven't upgraded that stat, or are you positive you have ?

There's the problem, I believe. DX11 runs like a pig above 2x AA on at least some systems. I've got a less capable system than yours (Nvidia 460 GTX and an i5) and can get about double your performance with no slowdown on DX11 with the latest 270xx drivers.

I think AMD have new drivers in the works which might possibly help with your DX11 performance. I know they didn't ship Shogun 2 with DX11 due to issues with AMD cards, could be it's the same problems DA2 has with them.

I turned everything to MAX with the latest patch installed (v1.02) and the game runs better than ever!

Framerates with everything maxed (even SSAO and HQB and DDOF on) it hovers around 20-25 FPS, even during combat, in most normal areas.  Outdoor environs are not actually playable though.  FPS drops to around 15.  BUT, turning off DDOF, SSAO and HQB (and leaving AF and AA at their max settings) I get 45FPS in MOST areas, with around 70 in city areas or indoors, and about 35-40FPS in high-traffic outdoor areas, which is just fine.

The most notable difference to me is that the game is more "even-keeled" than ever, regarding framerate in all areas.  What I mean is, no matter what framerate I get (all have definitely been playable now) the game's framerate and performance doesn't fluctuate wildly...even during changes from walking around casually, to getting jumped by enemies, even into the thick of combat, the framerate stays much steadier with only about a 5FPS drop when things get "exciting".  That, to me, is probably the biggest improvement.  Not too many things irritate me more than a game that glaringly goes from smooth gameplay to choppy gameplay at random and frequent intervals.

I just wish they'd fix the damn quest bugs now!  So many things (especially in Act 3) are still broken!  At first I thought having the quest pointers telling me where to go was a little "cheesy", but now that so many don't show up, I'm spending a helluva lotta time wandering around aimlessly looking for objectives because a lot of arrow-markers are missing, or the worst still:  quests that are unfinishable!  Sad.  And having to constantly make sure my mouse cursor is at or near the bottom of the screen (or having to constantly hold the RMB down all the time!) to be able to enjoy the aforementioned smooth framerates is just plain ridiculous.

Overall:  a vast improvement, but still a good ways to go.

Yes, the armor sets are fixed. The issue was a systemic thing which was the same issue causing the maker's sigh to break as well as isabela's slow-mo issue (among other things)

As far as i can see, the passive abilitiy problems caused by Isabella and Sebastian (speed and damage resistance) have not been fixed by the patch.
Their passives still start to have a negative impact if you swap them out of the party (i have checked with a save game editor to confirm this).
I'm not sure if this is the problem you are saying has been solved though.

Did you try a new Patch 1.02 playthrough, or is this an older save?

As i was playing a game currently in Act 3, i didnt want to start from scratch, so no, not a new playthrough.

I didnt realise it only affected new playthroughs.

There is a workaround for that, but it requires editing your save-game. The only other options are new game or reload an older save from before getting affected by the bug.

Same here.

The letter never arrives at the Hawke Estate, nor do I get a notification in my journal.

Likewise. Am doing a whole new playthrough - doing the last couple of quests in Act III and never received any sort of notification on the quest.

I'm starting to think QC was still having problems with the quest and they took it out completely. Maybe it'll show up in patch 1.03?

...or the person who needed rescuing admitted it was a hoax and is currently grounded by her irate father for the next 25 years.  Image IPB

Also confirming that the 'Who Needs Rescuing?' quest in the Wounded Coast is now fixed. Great work Bioware, late, but great.

Uh oh, just found out that one has to register the game in order to post here. Now one has to make the link between these two ... :D

Since patching up to 1.02 dialogues are almost inaudible while they were before. Even moving the dialogue volume to the right end with maximum value (10) did not help albeit the voices can be faintly heard but still not understandable.

The game still freezes before going on again.
The 1.02 patch made everything worse. The freezes do not last as long as before but they occur much often now. Yesterday I played the game about 4 hours and experienced 7 freezes each taking about 3-5 minutes.

I'm not sure if this works for you, but if you're playing it on the PC and you have it, try pressing the "Windows" key (the key that looks like the Windows logo)on your keyboard when your game freezes. That might get you running again. It's worked for me (but sometimes even that won't help).

Let me know if that helps any. :)

I can confirm Nathaniel reads the Architect flag correctly now. However, he still refers to the Warden having strange allies and living in complicated times. I'm confused. Actually, I'm confused as to why the Warden is even in Thedas to begin with. I followed Morrigan. Are they "allies" from following Morrigan into the mirror, or do I still for some reason have Darkspawn allies despite killing the Architect? Er, well, I guess the "warden commander" might not necessarily by "the first warden," but that makes it even more confusing why the wardens would have strange allies.

*Edit*

I can also confirm that the patch does NOT fix already-broken stats from the bugs that existed in the game (at least not Damage Resistance)... And since only BioWare knows *all* of the sources of error and what they do, there's no way to make a "legal" save file. For instance, if an item set bonus is +1 magic, and I used it, did it reduce my magic by 1 every time I removed the item set? After all the modifications made to my magic score over the course of the game, it'd be impossible for me to know what my score should be. So since the patch didn't even fix Damage Resistance, maybe I'll just pump up all my stats since once again, there's no way to have a legal save file thanks to the bugs that existed.

I pitty console users whose characters will now be permanently nerfed.

*Edit again*

Wow, the animation speed is STILL bugged. No, I don't just mean it didn't revert to 0 speed. I mean it went to -5 again somehow... Just happened once so far.

Well now I downloaded the patch but did not apply it as of yet. The main reason is due to the fact that most of the things for which it supposedly fixes I never had a problem with in the first place. Like the Merril bugs and game crashesfor example. In all the hours for which I've played the game I've yet to have it crash or feeze. So I figure why fix what ain't broken.

Still cannot get past "administrator privileges" issue! Not program savvy. Can anyone out there tell me how to have "Dragon Age 2" acknowledge me as administrator?
