I had heard there were issues in Awakenings not importing/exporting flags properly from DA:O.
Yes, the approval doesn't carry over and DA2 checks the romance flag + approval in case of romances. But does your statement mean that DA2 after the patch still needs a pure Origins save without any Addon/DLC?
If yes, why didn't you ask the developer of the import-fix here in the forum for permission to include it into the patch? It works also with Awakening.

Is there story/quest relevant material that relies on the import that is NOT fixed with this patch? If there is I will start a vanilla new game (not importing).

Now that my hopes were so high, I'm almost crying as the info that's surfaced so far seems not to give the impression that the import problems have been fixed.
Can anyone positively deny or confirm that there are any fixes about this included?
I'm getting sadder and sadder right now. Losing hope and thus interest more and more.

But Awakening was one helluva bag o' crapsack anyway, so I'm not surprised.

I've never had any problems with import. I didn't import an Awakening save, though, just my final save from Origins. If the problem is Awakening having a buggy import, the only real solution is to start a new game and then edit your first save with an editor.
Most of the reports I've seen from community members is that the issues arise from Awakening saves. I've got that all written down but if the issue is actually with Awakening and not Dragon Age II (or perhaps even just an older version of awakening compared to now) then I can't really help much, unfortunately. I would try with an Origin save to see if the issue persists.

From what has been deconstructed so far, the problem is that some of the checks are for DAO approval levels, which are not imported into Awakening saves. There has been some success with altering the checks to look for something that is actually imported into Awakening... even if I keep forgetting to bookmark that fix.

The main reason why I never started a 2nd playthrough was the import issue, and since all my characters did the DA:O->DA:A->GoA->WH chain, from what is posted here it seems it's still messed up.
If Awakening is the issue, I guess there won't be any fix, ever. The only workaround would be to edit a savefile and set the correct flags, right?

At least a quick check with a save game editor doesn't show any difference with or without Isabella in the party.

It's all described in this thread in details. MonochromeWench provided a temporary fix here. If she was able to deal with the problem with romance and Nathaniel check somehow, I guess it's possible for Bioware specialists to find a solution too.
I confirm that the save game import for OC+Awakening+DLC is still messy.

Pardon me, I'm not usually the type to get really huffy with my complaints, but I don't see this as being an acceptable solution.
I assume, if we use an Origins save rather than an Awakening save, then the choices from Awakening/DLC are set to some sort of default? Am I correct?
If that's the case, then what you are basically saying is that if we had a Warden who then went on to do Awakening/DLC content, none of that matters. We have to pretend "our" versions of Awakening and the DLC never happened, that none of the decisions we made there--some of which were quite significant and world-changing--are relevant to the world of Thedas as it appears in DA2.
Sorry, but to borrow the language I use fifty times a day with my 3-year-old... "that's not okay."
That's not a solution. If that is the case, then there was absolutely no point in ever spending money on Awakening or the DLC to begin with.
If the problem is with Awakening, fix Awakening. Forget this silly "we're done making patches for Origins/Awakening" stance and fix the product we paid for. It should never have been broken to begin with.
If you want us to buy into this world you have created, and accept that we are playing characters whose decisions have shaped this world and who are important to the outcomes in this world, then we need to see the echoes of the decisions we have made rippling down the surface of this world. To expect us to swallow "the decisions you made in Origins matter, but the decisions you made in Awakening don't" is NOT OKAY.
It would be one thing if you were structuring a story where the events of previous chapters in the story have no ripple effects. But that's not what the storytellers are doing here. So fix this, and do it right, or else there is simply no point.
I've not been a vocal complainer about the problems in DA2 because for the most part, so long as I can play and I get my story, I'm happy. But this is one point on which I will not yield. This is an immersion point, and immersion is the aspect of the product that actually makes me able to forgive all the many, MANY other flaws. When you tell me to pretend that a major chapter in the narrative never happened the way I remember it happening, my immersion is GONE. And that's not okay.
Thank you.

Remove the trollface mod. I am, of course, assuming you have it installed.
