The fact that the import bugs remain does not make for happy time.

For the people who are having savegame import problems, did you try using the Dragon Age Save Generator?

This fixed my incorrect "freed the circle" but is still incorrect in regards to my romance with morrigan.

The Rally skill should put the modal skills of the caster on to the rest of the group - you'll actively see that buff on those characters in the bottom right where all the buff icons are. If this isn't happening, try using Maker's Sigh and resetting the skill.

As for the Revenant pull, I'm guessing it was the ring stopping the pull. Last I played the game (with the in-house version) both those two things were in but that's not to say they didn't magically break right before cert.

For people saying Who needs rescuing still wont complete. Did you already have it started in your save? There is a good chance you'll need to load back before entering Wounded Coast to get it to work correctly.

I'm still having problems with playing Direct X 11 High settings etc. The proglouge is just as jumpy and low fps as before.

i7 2.6
6Gb Ram
Crossfired ATI Radeon HD 5670 (1Gb)

It's the only thing that's really bugging me right now, I'd like to play with all the settings up. I've tried rolling back, installing new ones etc etc. No avail.

Any more advice is appreciated!

Save game starts in my house with quest already accepted.
Then entering Wounded Coast ... not working

I loaded a save file right at the start of Act 3, accepted the quest, and went to the Wounded Coast. I defeated the bandits and the quest won't update after that.

Well, fortunately, I love the beginning, so it's off to restart Mage & Warrior. I think I'll hold off, though, on the Zevran-Warden import - hell hath no fury like my character scorned!

I obviously don't know if this was addressed in the new patch, but I am still unable to launch the game at all due to the bug telling me that I don't have enough administrative privileges to run the game. I'm definitely the admin on my pc, and I can see all my system data so the fix in the 'unable to launch' thread doesn't really apply to me

I've seen a few posts of users making new accounts and the game running fine. Perhaps try making a new user account and installing it there but selecting allow all users to access this (or whatever that option is called)

Thanks for the advice, I just tried that but I still can't launch the game unfortunately =/

The game was running suprisingly good after the 1st patch. Now I experiance fps drops now and then.

PS. While im happy that I was finally able to finish the game, I'm a bit dissapointed:
- the ending was... not satisfying enough
- the problem of save imports still exists

Now while there will surely be an option in DA3 to import saves, I just hope they will give an option to set up things you did in DA:O or... at least explain how the story RLY happened from their perspective...
I hate when someone gives you a lot of options and then just takes them away saying only one of them counted.

For the moment I don't see myself playing it again, to many recycled maps. Maybe if they would release a dlc with additional maps or smth... Let's just hope they will give us smth big. A huge expansion would be nice.

In the and I enjoyed the ride.

The problem seems to be partially in DA:O and partially in the import mechanism in DA2
DA:O problems, I fear, will never be addressed

Stupid question time ... if I have not yet noticed any issues, should I download and install the patches? Also, does .02 include .01, or do I have to do them in order? I am somewhat leery of the patches, as my DA:O started crashing during battles AFTER I downloaded patch 1.04 and had not before that installation. No crashes as of yet in DA II (although due to work schedule and other unrelated computer issues, I have *embarassed, ahem* not yet finished my first playthrough and am still working on the end of Act 2).

(Edited typos)

You can go directly from 1.00 to 1.02.

:(I was hoping this would fix those poor clods walking around Kirkwall with their dead-body/low-res/painted-on-faces... I mean, the consoles get a whole script added on to the game mechanics, why shouldn't all the systems' walking-dead NPCs get fully realized like they were in Origins? (And I mean that no one in Origins, ignoring the DEAD BODIES, had these horribly low-res faces... Why is Kirkwall inhabited by all these walking corpses? Must be the remnants of Tevinter...)
:crying:And then the import romance flags are still bugged??? *sigh* Whatever.... He're to patch 1.03..... At least the uncompleteable quests and the super glitchy friendship abilities were fixed... then again... aren't things like that supposed to be hammered out in the final development phase before release? Isn't that why companies employ beta testers before a game even goes golden? (Hell, Bioware, I'll do it for free for DA3! Just.... don't release an unfinished game like DA2 again...)
(Thank the god for tech savy people and me playing on the PC! YäY! Modders! ... Still... I feel bad for all my console friends....)

EDIT: Forgot that it fixes Aveline's armor bug! That's one less mod I need.

I've got a few people looking in to these DA:O/A specific issues right now to see if there is anything we can do to fix this going forward. Unfortunately, even if we patched those older titles you would have to beat them again to generate a new save which I suspect most people wouldn't be too happy about.

SO, right now we're trying to come up with a firm solution to this issue, thats about all I can say on the topic.

The problem seems to be that upon importing a character into Awakening, there's a lot of data that gets excised, including your approval with all the Origins companions. DAII has checks that rely on approval rating. If you import from a game with Awakening, those checks fail automatically. Monochrome Wench released a fix that simply removes the approval requirements from those checks.

Example: Leliana's Act III cameo and her relationship with the Warden: her line about the Warden being dear to her heart only appears if the romance flag is active and if your approval with Leliana was >90. Awakening imports the romance flag, but not the approval rating.

Could these sorts of issues be avoided by using the DAO Save Generator tool, since it allows you to choose DAO and Awakenings options without having to import anything into Awakenings?

Maybe we just need a more comprehensive tool that allows you to select the specific approval ratings for each companion.

Oh, you underestimate the appeal of your game!  I'd do it again - I just did a run through again to address the fact I went nuts & killed werewolves in Rogue #1. (I really, really, really resented 'overwhelm.'  I couldn't look at my dogs for days after...)

But it does seem excessive. (meaning a lot of work on fixes for an old game)   If it turns out that Origins imports work better, that would be enough to know, since Awakenings didn't add anything to romantic options.

In theory, yes, that'd be possible. But the DAO Save Generator in its current state doesn't generate approval ratings. It would have to be modified to do so before it would be a viable alternative.

I've downloaded Monocrome Wench's import fix mod, and it fixed everything. (I checked using the vault_debug in the dev's console) And that got me thinking...
Now, I'm just a simple junior in college, majoring in chemical engineering.... So what do I know... But if her mod works.... and it seemingly does work well. Why don't y'all buy it from her and release her coding as a part of the next patch and add "Renee Stanley" to the credits list at the end of the game? I'm pretty sure that she would love to get her name out there. And I think it'd not only speed up fixing things, but go over well with the community showing that you like what we do and REALLY do enjoy our feedback and listen to us.
You could probably even cool a lot of the nerd-rage that is flying about over this game by doing so. It would really bolster the community's approval, knowing that a commonfolk could be involved with helping to code a game from Bioware.
Why bother reinventing the wheel when you can just buy one that works from someone else, right???^_^

(Here's hoping that they send you a letter/email, Ms. Stanley<3!)

EDIT: I just wanted to clarify something too. My import was Origins>Awakening>Amgarrak>Witch Hunt... AND I used the Equal Love mod so that I could romance :wub:Alistair:wub: (the fact that mod was so popular leads me to believe that it was key in pushing all the LIs be available to both genders. Kudos on that btw.)
And guess what? Ms. Stanley's mod made my DA2 import recognize the fact that I had romanced Alistair AND that I was male!! So I KNOW her work works... even when it shouldn't...

However, there is ONE caveat to my import... I knew that the epilogue save from Origins doesn't read the romance flags correctly, so before I imported to Awakening I made sure to have saved during the Post Coronation (Yes... I like having a DemonGodBaby... and living) and import from that save. However, I have heard that this is unneccessary because I've heard that if you give your romanced LI a gift in the party camp after returning there from the epilogue field, the game reflags them as your romance. Though I do not know, since I haven't tried it myself.

In all fairness to the Bioware devs, DAO and Awakenings have perhaps the most complex set of companion relationships and similar data from any games I have played, and I certainly don't envy their task to link all these relationships across DAO, Awakenings, DA2 and DA3.

At the time DAO was released it would not have been possible to foresee exactly which save game elements would have impact on DA2.

Maybe an improved Save Generator tool would be the best solution for those who don't want to replay all three games in order to try different RP scenarios.
