Murder Knife's Official Wikia Page

The murder knife made a return in DA2 with a make over. Sadly it didn't see as much use as it did in Origins and when it was used it never had the same "SHANK" effect that it did in Origins. It will make a return in DA3 I'm certain of that but I want it to be used more. The only best kill from the murder knife in DA2 was the murder of Lord Harimann (The Harimanns are one of the most entertaining NPCs in DA2. We have Rexton Hariman's felicitate me scene and then we have the knife through the head Harimann's head scene.) whereas DA:O had more such as Brother Genetivi's murder, the Redcliffe's tavern keeper's murder and the soldier of the wilds' murder.

Good characters may refer to the Murder Knife as the "Knife of Justice", "Killer Knife" or "The Maker's Sting" as murdering is different from killing, though people like Zevran would disagree. Other characters would call their knife "The Knife of Mercy" as they would have only have used it to put people out of their suffering.

Thedas is always changing and much vanishes but one thing remains certain to remain...the murder knife. The Chantry may die one day and order with them but the murder knife will always stay.

Spoilers for DA:O only which I'm guessing everyone here has already played.

Which is optional as are kills of nearly every other NPC you meet and the felicitate me thread was never called a spoiler thread either and a BW dev even posted in it and yet it still remains unlocked.

One of the reasons I love Archery this time around is you get to use the Murder Knife every time you melee.

Heh. My rogue used the knifes that actually resemble short swords. So no murder knife in combat for me.

:(

I could murder knife somebody here...since this is in the spoilers section now. I guess I can truly add a spoiler:

Since it is now in the spoilers section... I gotta say that Lord Harimann or w/e his name was is the best murder kniving in DA2. Point blank knife chuck to the face = win.

It kinda had the "shank" effect when you kill the dwarf with it (can't remember his name atm) in DA2. That's part of the Blackpowder Courtesy questline. It was stuck in the back of his head like it was with Genitivim though

In fact I can think of only 3 off the top of my head in DA2: the two that I mentioned, and the one that is rogue-specific where you throw the knife at that mage.

I support further usage of the murder knife. :)'

And I haven't played a while (waiting for patch) so I haven't done a run where I killed off Anders yet.

Yes. I was shocked too but it IS the murder knife. It deserves its own page.

I can never remember the half elf kids name but the one from Night Terrors. At the end of the first quest chain there is a chance to throw the murder knife at the guy who is holding the kid at sword point. Funny the kid gets all like I can't believe you did that what if you missed and you can respond with I never miss. I just love how Hawke says that line.

It would be, but it's hard to pull a frying pan from nowhere on the spur the moment. You have to rummage through packs to find it, then the "wow" of the moment is lost and probably the intended victim.

My murder knife was dying for a chance to meet Petrice at the end of Shepherding Wolves. I'm very disappointed I was never given the option of introducing them.

You do get to introduce it to Anders though. Just make sure you put a bucket on his head beforehand.

Put a bag around his head and then start stabbing him. DA2 is supposed to be a dark 18+ game that was meant to be bloody and all we got was Varric making people explode by kicking them. It would have been dark if the Warde- erm, Hawke put a bag around Anders' head and started choking him and simultaneously stabbed him several times and if Seb is in the party - Hawke would throw the body to him and Seb would shoot it in its head. Shale would then come and crush Anders head and then the Architect would take Anders' body away and shove probes up it and resurrect it as part of an undead experiment, he would then kill it by kicking it into the void whence it never returns from.

Down in the void is the last archdemon which is gigantic, and it eats Anders' corpse and excretes him out. Being an undead - the acid in the archdemon's belly does not destroy Anders and he exists forever afterwards as excrement.

Anyone else think the Murder Knife was (dare I say it) over-used? I was really hoping for more mage-specific ways of killing people in DA2. Sure there were some, but I would have liked to have seen more. Killing as a mage can just be so pretty...

I thought it was a great touch that archery Hawke whips out her murder knife when enemies get into melee range.

Murder Knife for DA3 is a no-brainer. That's like saying "I wonder if Shepard going to Punch someone in ME3?"

Of course there'll be a Shepard Punch!

It's hilarious and awesome. Endlessly awesome. And sometimes, Murder Knife can be sad.

I like the DA2 Murder Knife more, the original looked like some kinda smaller butchers knife.

Funny how in Ander's short story its written "And then his sword is level with my chest, and I let it come, because it is only steel and cannot hurt me, for I am not of mortal men." - Direct quote.

He wasn't immune to the murder knife though!

No one is more powerful than the murder knife, we need to try it on Flemeth next time, maybe she will stay dead.

Murder Knife is made of condensed plot.

Only one has been able to withstand its might; Merrill. The possessed Keeper will Murder Knife Merrill if you believe her lie that she's no longer possessed. Merrill's story wasn't over however and so she laughed at the Keepers vein attempt to Murder Knife.
