People genuinely like DA2, people are genuinely happy that a patch has been released.  If you can't accept that people have different opinions than you, and that they're just as valid, then I think you'd be better off being a recluse somewhere else.

And likewise, some people are genuinely disappointed with this whole thing.  The opinions of the "haters" and the opinions of the "fanboys" are equally valid.

You are the pot calling the kettle black here.

That analogy doesn't really work in this situation.  I'm not bashing him or putting down his opinion of the game, I fully accept that he may not like the game.  What I'm telling him is that if he can't accept that people have a different opinion of the game, he'd be better off going somewhere else.

To me a game is good if I have fun playing it, and a game is bad if I don't.  If having fun makes me a 'fanboy', then I'll happily accept that label.

He's just as entitled to express his disappointment here as you are to discuss your enthusiasm.  Telling him, effectively, to "take it elsewhere" is the opposite of acceptance.  The analogy fits perfectly.

Is there any plan to fix the quest "Forbidden Knowledge"?

If I choose any option other than "Destroy" any of the Evil Tome, the quest cannot be completed at all, and I can never get the Evil Grimoire

Is this intended?

No seriously. Do you really have nothing better to do than grief Bioware? At least they are fixing mistakes ASAP instead of ignoring them.

*BioWare devs say something (ANYTHING)*

*apologists bury their noses in devs' crotches with thank yous like they're gonna get a treat*

*BioWare gets lazy*

No seriously, do you consider over a month to be "ASAP?"

Considering Bioware has other projects to work on and debugging is a lengthy process? Its acceptable.

No really. Have you ever coded before? Its not obvious to see why code isn't working as intended. It takes time and testing to see why a certain glitch is happening. Thousands of lines of code takes time to go through and fix. Dragon Age isn't a simple game.

Uh, not to sound ungrateful or anything but is there any word on an updated toolset?

Patches are great but I'm curious if we're going to see one (a toolset, I mean).

And after installing the patch my mouse no longer works in combat. I can click stuff on menus but can't click to target/attack mobs or lay down AoE. Could be something on my end but I don't know what.

You may need to read the post Arthain quoted to begin with.
And also his answer to both the quoted person and to you.
And then understand that your analogy doesn't fit and finally admit that you didn't read/get what he wrote.

When are the rest of the problems going to be patched? Has Bioware acutely submitted a title update to Microsoft and Sony for verification? Has the game received an appropriate team for support now, or is it going to take a month and a half for them to fix all kinds of immediately obvious problems?

I have and that's a terrible argument. If feature X is causing game breaking bug Y and you have no idea why then you could disable feature X and release it in a patch. When you figure out what the actual problem is then you could reintroduce the fixed feature sometime later. At least that would allow the players to finish the game. The Isabela/Sebastian bug is such a game breaking bug. Why there was no hotfix for that still puzzles me. All that remains is that I think BW simply doesn't care at all. BW doesn't have a good track record when it comes to patches. And in the case of game breaking bugs people should complain as loud as they can until the issue is resolved.

I read and understood it just fine, thank you. I used the terms "hater" and "fanboy" and enclosed them in quotes specifically to show that I had no interest in taking sides in the argument.  Perhaps that nuance was too subtle.

I'm not saying that either of them is right, I haven't expressed an opinion about the subject matter of the conversation, I'm just saying Arthain is being hypocritical.  However politely it was phrased, Arthain told the other guy to GTFO and that is not acceptance by any measure, it is a transparent attempt to disenfranchise anyone who is unsatisfied with the game.

This patch doesn't improve much the DX11 performance. Only a little.BioWare needs to work more on optimization.

DA2 is running better for me than before the patch. Fewer long, laggy stalls.

So let's see, the bulk of the thread has stopped debating the patch, and has moved on to the debate over the debate regarding the patch. Do you have a schedule for when you're going to move on to the debate over the debate about the debate regarding the patch?

This is, alas, true. After 2-3 playtrhrough with such a restricted story, it's bound to end like this.

Thanks for this patch, the game is running better for me too. Less laggy parts although sunderland and the place where hadrianna is hasn't changed. That blasted fog effect. lol.

Woohoo! Being unable to complete "Who needs rescuing" was annoying the ever-loving hell out of me. Sometimes I hate being a 100% completionist type of player.

Also, those mentioning the DX 11 issues: it's not entirely Bioware's fault, nVidia and ATi are still futzing with getting DX11 to work smoothly at their end too.

The patch is out, and I'm fine with it. But I have a problem. Is there a way to download the patch from the PC and apply it to your xbox? Because one of my friend has a very slow internet connection so I'm trying to help him out.

Thanks in advance.

Who needs rescuing appears to still be bugged. A different bug at least, seems like you can get it started but it doesn't update from there.

I don't get it.

If I was a hater, I would simply ignore this place. I'd move on to a different game that I liked.

Yet, some feel the need to constantly criticize and complain and whine. For what purpose? I don't know. Baffles my mind.

Ever see a fan of a sports team complain endlessly about how poorly they performed that season, yet still buy all the crap associated with that team? Same situation here: people are fans of Bioware who are very enthusiastic about their games, but complain endlessly about what they feel is a bad game by the developer. If Bioware puts out nothing but bad games for the next few years you won't see the "haters" anymore. Or many fans, for that matter.

Flip side of love isn't hate, it's apathy.

Maybe it's best to wait till patch 1.03 comes out...or patch 1.45...maybe by then we will have a bug free game.

Where is the patch for the ps3/360 version?
Why Sony is so slow?
