And I didn't get the damn achievement.
I just spent 20 hours collecting all the different resources...

Well the achievement states find every variety now that means one of each in simple terms however to my dismay I soon found out that you had to find ALL and I mean literally FIND ALL resources which is out of order as having played the game 5 times and doing what the achievement clearly asks. but still nothing.

go to xbox360achievements.org and look for the DA2 achievements thread. There you will find a guide to finding every single resource for the game. You need to find every regular resource and then the 3 rare ingredients/resources for the achievement to unlock. There are also maps for the locations of each resource in that thread.
