How did humans survive?

When oil runs out, whenever it runs out, greed will drive companies to sell you alternative energy.
The irony about the evil of greed is that the only way greedy people get richer is by doing something that makes your life better. If they aren't making peoples lives better, or easier, or happier, then they won't get moneyz.
That's how capitalism used to work anyway.

One of the interesting things about the ME codex is that it paints a pretty negative picture of humanity's future. Overpopulation and global warming had really taken its toll, and many of the scientific advances we expect to see in 20 years they didn't see for 80 or more. I believe Earth was laboring under a a population of 16 billion when mass relay tech was discovered and extrasolar colonization became viable (which means something like 5 billion people left Earth to colonize other planets).

I'd really like to know what makes people believe so blindly that Earth's resources are infinite. But like I said, I really don't care anymore. I tried to make a difference and it was worth a damn, so now I don't care and act like it's all peaches and cream.

Conspiracy around the electric car is silly, considering that two are already hitting the market this year.
To end this silly thread I'll say this. The electric car was available around a decade ago, but it was buried by oil companies that feared it would destroy they're profits and take they're market.

Massive Energy Rigs into the oceans using the natural tide to threadmill energy
Anyway we shall see when humanity is really starving on resources and energy , thats when people will do something ,
Untill then we are happily destroying our own planet for the next 200 years , and honestly who cares .
So don´t go turning green peace on us , the faster we destroy and consume the faster a resolution will be found .

Some are too greedy to care They don't give a damn because they're making a profit and are too short-sighted to see the consequences. Or they think they're immune because, in today's society, money is one of the things (if not the thing) that defines power.
Some are too uninformed, most of which simply don't want to know either because "its depressing". They go "its depressing to think about" and ignore it because it is better to ignore a problem and screw your future self or the next generation over than worry about it and try to adapt.
While others simply just don't give a damn, this can be due to several reasons. One reason could be that they believe Humans are a blight on the Earth and their own species. Others simply don't care because the world revolves around them or because the Human species will survive through adaptation.
I'm somewhat balanced, in my opinion. I know several of today's problems, I agree somewhat on most of Pwener's points but also on several others. Pwener isn't saying to prepare in a "it is the end of the world" sense, but more in the sense of stop being so damn dependant on technology and other people to fix everything so you don't have to worry about it. He isn't saying you should worry, he is saying people should at least acknowledge that there is at least a possibility that the Human species is in trouble should things continue down the path they're headed.
Personally, I'm the type who cares about the Earth and Humans but have long given up on my species. Almost everyone I've met seems to care more about fighting amongst each other and making money than finding a solution to the problem that might very well result in, worst case scenario, our extinction or a world-wide Dark Age. I highly doubt our extinction, but another Dark Age seems more likely.
Pwener is not a troll simply by stating his beliefs. While they may be controversial to YOU, he can cite his points and they ARE valid. Something that is VALID that you don't agree with does NOT make it a troll-statement. Learn the definition of "Troll", kids.
On the topic of Mass Effect, I don't know what the many races represent. Would this be part of what the Krogans represent? Based on what Wrex says about the Genophage on SR-1?

I'm not so sure. Even the oil companies know fossil fuels will run out in the 21st. Look at some of the research into new energy resources. Some of that the funding is coming from oil companies.Pwener2313 wrote...

I dont think resources are infinite, I think that when we run out of oil coorporations will be more than happy to sell you wind, water and solar energy. You know why? Because it will make them rich to do that- hence they'll gladly do it.
They don't sell it because when oil runs out, it won't be then selling it, it'll be the companies who are making it now who will sell it, bankrupting the oil companies.

" I believe Earth was laboring under a a population of 16 billion when mass relay tech was discovered" no..... Less than 20 million humans are off of Earth. Your estimate is way off.

Your not tryingto ****** me off yet you call me a douche. Huh..... contradictions all around it seems.
I made my point many times, no need to waste time with likes of you. The definition of a troll is someone who wastes someone else's time. With saying the world will lasts forver you are inciting me to respond to that dumb statement. You sir, are a troll, and you just proved it.

That is extremely unlikely. 99% of every species that has ever lived has gone extinct, ****** sapiens will be no exception and the Earth will DEFINITELY be gone in 4 billion years when our sun turns into a red dwarf.

.
Listen we advanced more in the 20th century , then any other ERA in the history of humanity .
The
century that was dominated by 2 world wars , created for us the
commercial airline , jet engine , nuclear powerplants , space shuttle
satellites , computers , viber optics , different Ideology , cinema
entertainement .
Civil liberties , Ghandi , Martin Luther king , Terrorisme, robots Etc ETC .
In 100 years time we went from steam and cole , into modern technology we still use today .
What did the 21st century do for us ?
So maybe that part hard to believe , is what we currently living in , I do not see us making huge leap of progress .
In any field for the next 50 years .
The way our research is funded , the way redtap is applied to inventions , the need for progress is no longer there.
We have pacts for everything but advancement , infact even in the cloning department .
Aside from China (who don´t give a **** what they can or cannot do ethically ) , we ain´t progressing much .
So that hard to believe is very real at this moment .

Individual freedom. I am an individual. I have freedom. I do what I want, when I want, how I want. Who is somebody to steal from me and give to another? Why is it evil for a company to make a profit? Because they lobby government, the same corrupted government many bow down to worship so Nanny will take care of them? Businesses have the same freedoms we all do. And if they break laws, they need to be held accountable.
People need to stop trying to get me to join this collectivist state. I'm already forced through taxation.
We need new technologies, to be sure...one that is legitimate, doesn't ****** away billions upon billions, doesn't raise food prices and actually does something. Lol, remember good old corn ethonal?
