That's a problem with your Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime library. That can usually be solved by reinstalling it... on my system it is located here:

C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Electronic Arts\\Dragon Age™ II\\__Installer\\DISK1\\Redistributable

then run vcredist_x86

that usually solves this problem.

I have the EADM version. I'm not sure if the disk version copies that to your hard drive, but the vc++ install files should be on the DVD.

The STEAM version does not have that folder.. but I believe you can get the most current ms v c++ runtime libraries for MS. It's a 32bit app so even if you have a 64bit OS, you need the 32bit runtime libraries.

If anyone had this issue and this fix solves it, let me know. If that's the case, I presume that something on your PCs is blocking the installer from additionally installing vcredist_x86.

I actually had this issue when I first downloaded it and installed via the EADM. I not only had to reinstal MS VC++, I had to reinstall most things under the installer folder as the EADM didn't install them properly

I didn't have any AV/spyware/firewall running when I installed. For me, it seems the installer failed.. or the MSVC++ package failed. I'm not sure which. That was a while ago.

I hope this helps other people also

I tried to reinstall using vcredist_x86, and it didn't really help. That is, unless I did something wrong...

What else had to be reinstalled? This problem is killing me.

There are a few other causes of a faulting C++ dll:

1) certain mouse drivers (other than windows mouse default drivers)
2) Windows Defender
3) Antivirus/Spyware programs

simply running the vcredist should reinstall it and replace files. Have u tried the one the came with the game AND the newest version from MS?

To be safe, I updated my mouse drivers haha. No luck there. I'm also fairly certain the necessary things are shut off with AVG, and that windows defender isn't running.

I think I downloaded the newest version from MS, though its possible I am mistaken. Mind linking it to me, and I will double check?

Same. Tried everything. Searched through google and the forum. Maybe it's my computers fault. I don't know, cause I'm not a computer genius. But isn' it obvious that DA2 Demo, DA1 and other games are working except DA2.

I've got the
Microsoft .Net Framework 4
Microsoft Sync Framework 2.0 SDK and 2.1 SDK
Micosoft Visual C++ 2005, 2008 and 2010

Nedless to say, I reinstalled the programs and DA2 a few times.
