It's worked fine for me before, but today I tried running it and nothing comes up no matter how long I wait.
It shows up in running processes, but no window or anything. What's up?

After I while I get an odd message: "Could not connect to local control server for DAUpdaterSvc. Is the service running?"

Ok this is more serious, it seems the game won't recognize my DLC and tells me to log in when I already have! It says it's "unauthorized". HELP.

Hi there! I have exactly the same problem. I am using Vista SP1, and updated the game with the latest 1.01b patch. Before that, it worked fine, without any problems, but since the patch it always gives me an error message that daupdater.exe stopped working. I tried to figure out what causes the problem and Vista said that daupdater has some problems with the DEP function or something...

Well, it seems that it has some problems with the DEP, the Data execution protocol. I tried to add the daupdater.exe to the exceptions, but I got an error message, that daupdater needs the DEP or can't be added to the exceptions. Anyone, can you help me?

Well, my DLCs are working OK, maybe because I enabled them right after the installation of the game, before the patches came out. My problem is, that I can't open it. When I doubleclick on the exe, it gives me that error message. There was no problem before the latest patch...

My DLCs won't work, and my saves won't load either.

This is a major problem, I've tried reinstalling daupdatersvc.service with no luck.

Okay. Weirdness. If I'm logged in I can't use my DLC because it says it's unauthorized.

If I log OUT I can use it just fine. What the heck is going on here?



Is there any way I can download a fresh daupdatersvc? Mine seems to be broken.

Well I simply can't start the updater. It gives me an error message. I don't know what the heck is wrong with it. It worked fine, until I installed the patch.

I tried reinstalling and leaving it at v1.00. Still doesn't help. Maybe I have to delete anything outside the dragon age folder?

I just have the same issue. I am running with XP. (lastest services packs).



I have tried to restart the service (remove - reinstall) but to no avail.



Is there a fix ou workaround plz ?

Still no official fix? Oh d***. I see that other people have the same or at least similar issues after installing the patch. There is no doubt that the patch done something with it, so ther must be some other way to fix it, than reinstalling the whole game or something...

Suggested workarounds? Can you post some of them please?!

Perhaps they'll be of some use to you.



The only thing that's allowed me to continue playing as I mentioned before is to log out when in-game.

Paradoxically logging out of my account allows me to access my DLC and saves. If your DLC is already installed and registered this should work. Unfortunately this will do nothing for DLC not installed before this stupid bug cropped up.



As for the daupdater, if you wait around 5 minutes, an error message comes up then you should be able to access it just fine for the purposes of installing user made mods anyhow.
