I like playing my main character mostly and don't like to micromanage my companions too much so I use the combat tactics slots a lot.  Other than the basic if health gets <25% use heal, See enemy use ability, etc.  Does anyone have a set they find particular effective.  I know nothing works under all circumstances, but I'm curious as to what others have come up with.

I use the monster rank tactic for slow refreshing mage spells.

I've never seen the 'enemy use ability' tactics, what exactly are you referring to? Also, Kaiki01, how is the rank tactic best used and what do you mean by slow refreshing? I can't wait to see more posts in this thread with great tactics, it's something I've been looking for because I get tired of micro-managing everyone. Thanks.

I use the rank tactic so certain party members use certain powers against Elites and Bosses before they do anything else. Like Morrigan using Horror against an Elite while the other party members take out the other baddies. Other spells like Curse of Mortality, Paralyze, Crushing Prison also fit into that category. Spells that you will probably only get off 1 or 2 times during a fight. Compared to Winter's Grasp which will go off many times.

I like using the 'jump to tactic' action, since it allows me more precise control over the situation that I would prefer a character to use an ability. For example, tactic 6: If enemy is in close range, jump to tactic 7: if enemy is clustered with 2 or more allies use Cone of Cold. Before I did this, I would notice my mages charging into groups of 2 or more enemies that were across the field rather than hanging back and waiting for the enemies to come to them.

I haven't observed it clearly enough, but it seems to work.

I use Elite or Higher for spells like Death Hex that are only really needed on bosses.

For spells like Paralyze that get used every fight I use Enemy Highest Health. Works out nice. Paralyzes the boss if one is present but still makes sure Paralyze gets used every fight and every time it's up.

I also like to activate sustained spells/abilities via tactics as well. Once the mana/stamina reaches 50%, or a lower level, I'll have them activate it. This helps to use mana/stamina more efficiently during battles.

Of course, it would be easier to set up some of these if there were more tactic slots, but it works well enough when you're not controlling them. I mainly have the low cooldown and low cost abilities set to tactics.

Do you find your mage friendly fires your guys, more often then not, when you use that tactic?

Yes, but since I control my mages most of the time, it happens infrequently enough that it's not a problem. When it does bother me during a fight though, I just switch it off.

Maybe there's a condition in there that allows them to not hit party members somehow? I'll have to look.

Is automatically healing the first tactic listed usually followed by other tactics, like those above, for everyone? How high is the healing spell tactic set as compared to another character's healing poultice?
