I keep trying to download ME2, after entering the code for the free Mass Effect 2 PC download from EA that I received after purchasing Dragon Age II.

Well, if EA really wants me to "buy into" PC gaming and using their Download Manager, they DEFINITELY are not making a case for themselves.

Issue #1: The Download goes to about 84.46%, and stops. It sits there downloading at 0.0 kb/s for HOURS. I then had to reload the program about half a dozen times, and even reboot my COMPUTER to get it to download about 0.7GB more..

Issue #2: (See issue #1) Now I'm stuck with the same problem again, sitting here with the software downloading at the head-smashing-the-keyboard speed of precisely 0 KB/sec.

This definitely turns me off completely to the idea of PC gaming.

EA, after reading the other threads here with the multiple problems with this game requiring numerous patches, and after experiencing freezing and other issues on my last couple of purchases from you, (even on my console with the physical media present) I have one request: How 'bout pulling your heads out,  and spending some time making things that work. You can also stop the stall tactics in your Customer Service department and treating your customers with disregard or treating them like idiots when they ask for technical support. Stop rushing products to market, and develop things properly. Make installation simple, and make robust products that run well. Is that so much to ask for? Sheesh.<_<

Anyone know how I can get this install of ME2 to work? Cause apparently I can't finish downloading the game. It just sits there at 92.13% regardless of how many reboots, terminated processes, manually logging in and out of EADM, logging out, exiting, verifying the process shut down and rebooting. All the troubleshooting I can think of, and it seems there is no way to resume my progress.

Same problem here. And I there's also a weird behavior. Although the download rate is literally 0 kb/s, my hard-disc keep running until I close the software.

I installed the EADM, started downloading and my computer froze and had to be hard reset. After 5 times (one of them I got as far as the configuration screen to disable the auto-load on starting Window, and then the next it froze as it was loaded the EADM) I loaded Windows into safe mode, uninstalled the EADM and now my computer is no longer freezing.

Yes I know I already own the game, I was going to gift this one to a friend for his house warming. Try and get him into the series.

It can be various things.
Try to disable any anti malware software and run EADM as an administrator.

But if the common solutions don't work, i doubt that anyone will come out with a solution without contacting directly the EA support.

I'm having the same problem, game won't download through EA Download Manager.

My system acts as if it is saving the downloaded material, but I have zero d/l speed and nothing saved to the hdd.

I also have the DVD version but am sooo sick of having to root around for the disc every time I want to play so I uninstalled it quite some time ago. Remove any game which requires a disc to start once I have finished it, SSD's just don't carry enough space. Since my last reboot ME2 now shows up as ready in the EADM but asks for a disc when I try to start it.

I also got Mass Effect 2 for purchasing the Dragon Age 2 Signaure Edition.
I have been trying to download it for 8 days now. It had been to approx. 94% and when i rebooted my computer it reverted to 72.12%. That was 2 days ago. I have been loading every day since then and am now at 87.63%. Everytime i start the EADM it reverts a little bit, so i can never really finish the download... plus it loads at 6kb/s.

I have a friend who bought the game some time ago. Could i just use his dvd to install the game and then register it with my key, or are there any differences between the retail version and the one you get for purchasing Dragon Age? Will I be able to just install and download the missing dlcs if I use the dvd? Because I am tired of waiting for this stupid download. :(

@Blindscarab: It doesnt magically change all of your registry entries. You need to uninstall the disk version prior to downloading and installing the EADM version. You can keep your save games during the uninstall process.

@Morfium: You can do it that way, as long as you use your product code, but as with Blindscarab, you will then be asked for the disk every time you try and run it.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one having a problem with this. I'm on my second download attempt for ME2. First time I made it to just over 80% when it started screwing up. This time I made it to (reported) 96%, but I'm not sure that that's accurate.

I was able to download ME2, but now it won't play and as the music starts, Windows simply says ME2 has stopped working and will now close the program.
This must have been their test run and looking at the blog, it has failed, and this isn't a game I would have bought, but thought since it came with Dragon Age 2 that I would try it...

Any suggestions on making it play?????  :crying:

After uninstalling my DVD installation of ME2, installing it again through EADM was entirely painless.

Now I just need to figure out why my brother can't get EADM to even download his copy of the game...

I was literally at 96% download complete, then I reset the EADM for an update and it started me at 0%, even though I have an 8gb BFBC2 file on my computer, any way for me to force the program to read the file i have and finish where it left off?

I've downloaded it no problem. However, the first time I tried to run it, I clicked the ME2 icon, then clicked Play only to receive the message "The game cannot launch because of a misconfiguration. Please reinstall your game and try again." After a few seconds the box disappears. So, I redownloaded it only to get the same result. And that's with the patch. I give up, as it's a freebie I'm going to uninstall it and leave it.

I also got the free code after buying Dragon Age 2. But I can´t even commence a download.
Every time I choose to Redeem a Code at the EADM, it opens a window that simply sits there loading forever, then it shows me the message:

"Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /EADM-GameActivation.do.

Reason: Error reading from remote server"

I have no idea what to do here, since the EA Support page its pretty much useless.
