I have searched my thumbs off for a thread dealing with this and have yet to see one.
Im on ps3.

Heres the skinny:
Dog is out and being attacked. Its health drops into my mages ally: health <% Heal threashold prior to any other ally. This begins a repeated attempt by the mage to cast Heal on the dog because its flagged as an ally, but the dog can't be targetted because its technically not part of the group.

Now for the issue:
If an ally is on the far side of the dog and requires healing after the dog has crossed the threshold, the mage stays in the loop attempting to heal the dog untill the dog dies, is unsummoned, or the ally dies.   This occurs even if the ally attempts to move between the dog and the mage casting heal.  If the ally is closer to the mage when they pass the threshold, they receive the Heal as intended and the mages tactics resume as intended.

Can someone confirm for xbox & pc please.

My possible observatation is that I am unable to target Dog with Heal at all; manually or tactics. Uncertain of anything else.

Yes this occurs. You will notice that Anders or Hawke mage start screaming "I'll help you" "I'm coming" "Hold on " when dog is the only one taking damage and his health is depleted ..etc

I play on PS3 and I've never noticed dog taking serious damage. He was out for the Arashok fight and for that one I did need to resummon him so I guess he died but I've honestly never noticed him take a heal

Also, I'm pretty sure I've seen the healers fail to heal even without dog out and healing as their #1 priority; often they will prioritise stave autoattack over healing even when Heal is off cooldown and the tank is about to die. I suspect that healing is bugged in several different ways.

That is a auto attack animation delay issue, not what I am talking about.

I'm on PC and I cannot heal the dog, and cannot even target or attempt to heal the dog.

If an ally is on the far side of the dog, I just switch camera view to enable me to click on the ally. I have never had any issue where a mage is stuck in a loop attempting to heal the dog.

When a rogue uses the confuse talent; however, the Dog can become confused and turn hostile, apparently switching sides (circle becomes red). I have seen this a few times but didn't get a chance to see if the dog actually attacks party members or not.

not talking about manual healing, talking about tactics
ally: health <50%: Heal
if just the dog drops below this level before any other party member, a tactically controlled mage will attempt to heal it.

tactics naughty
confuse has nothing to do with this

Apologies - didn't see that you were talking about tactics. I'll try to test it on PC.
