I downloaded the 1.02 patch and when I open it I get the following error message:

"Dragon Age 2 was not found.  Please reinstall the game and try again."

I'm using the EA download version.  Any ideas?

Is your version installed to a custom location? Was your version moved from when you installed it? I suspect the issue is that your registry is pointing somewhere other than where your game actually is.

The following should only be modified if you have some PC savvy and understand how regedit works:

- open regedit (in the run dialog just type regedit)
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Bioware > Dragon Age 2
- make sure the data for 'Path' is the same as where your game is actually installed, if not, right click and modify it so that it is

Eh I just found the solution to my problem. My unicode program (under regional settings) was set to something other than English (US). Somehow this screws up everything. I changed it back to English (US), rebooted and it was fixed.

if you installed on another hard drive (D in my case) you need to do what luke said
under bioware make a folder named "Dragon Age 2"
right click and make a new String value
name it Path then put in the path to wherever you dragon age 2 installation is (D:\\program files\\Dragon Age 2 for example)

took me a few tries so thought i would type it out for anyone else needing to do this
