Is there a gag order of sorts on this game with respect to reviews?

I find it very disturbing when review sites such as game spot or IGN don't have their reviews out prior to release date or this close to it when we know they have review coppies well in advance.  So far from past reviews that have followed this patern, they score incredibly low or are incredibly negative in the right up. I have had theories that they hold off on the review so as not to help squash the sales of the game right out of the gates. There are ALLOT of people who buy based on reviews at those sites.

So anyone wish to comment on it? Have major review sites been asked to hold until release day before posting reviews?

There have been a dozen reviews at various sites. I don't see any indication that there is a gag order.

Yeah, like spunky up there mentioned, there are plenty reviews kicking around. Many of them are listed in the forums here. Not just previews, proper reviews.

Ever since Gamespots debacle around the review of Kane & Lynch, many sites have been wary not to post their reviews until release date. What happened then was basically that Gamespot released one review of Kane & Lynch prior to release, one that was pretty negative and was quickly altered and the writer fired. Officially it had nothing to do with the negative review or pressure from the makers of the game. Whatever that is what really happened is still up to debate.

Basically, by not posting their review before release the sites and magazines can claim that they aren't biased because of preferential treatment. This adds a little extra credibility to their review.

Gethsemani87 - IGN for example almost always posts their reviews in advance unless .....

in most cases - gag order, or very negative review.

Are you trying to say there's potentially a conspiracy afoot?

What constitutes a 'real review?' There have been reviews in Game Informer, PC Gamer UK, PC Gamer Sweden, CD Action (Poland) and couple of German magazines to name but a few.

*Gghk* *choking*, ok ok, i'm going to read it now..   Thanks.

Oh I have faith. I already pre-ordered the CE version  and schedule vacation about this bad boy. I'm just a bit worried based on the past parterns at that site. Others will notice that who read reviews at IGN too. If people are not already taking note of it on their forums.

I'd never even heard of that site until the Dragon Age review. I find it surprising, that there isn't a review from a Gamespot, IGN, Gametrailers or whatever. All we've really had are translated reviews from foreign press, smaller sites, and useless reviews like the one in Game Informer.

On second though, maybe I just want a site I trust more to review it.

What's to say Gamespot or IGN won't have their reviews out on Monday, before the release? It could even be today, it's still 5am in California.

Hey! No Force Choking on these forums. You'll need to go to the SW: TOR forums for that. :P

Those are a handful that I was able to find a link to in the past few minutes. There have been more. Why IGN hasn't posted one? Eh, no idea. I'm doubtful it is for the reason you're fearing, though, as it seems to be getting around 90% on average.

Already done in SW:TOR forums. Something about it's been done to death, and then booted.

But seems to be right, none of the major sites have put reviews up yet. I think the idea that they'll be up around release date is more realistic. More people will be searching for reviews when they hear about the release maybe.

I've seen scores as low as *about* 85% floating around the forums, and going up to around 95%.

I seem to remember there being a review mentioned on the other DA forums that gave it a perfect score though... I'll see if I can't track it down, but I rarely rely on reviews anyway. I'd rather just read a synopsis of game features and stuff like that, that's how I tell if I'll like it or not.

Though, I've read more reviews for DA than any other game I can remember... I'm just too excited! ^^

The only legit one is that 9 thus far, at least that are members of those game stat calculations. I believe.

Well to be honest, I'd like to read it. I've resorted to playing through demon souls for a third time now... which is annoying as i keep getting my games invaded by a bunch of jerks who beat on my fairly average character and kill me :(.

I much rather be reading reviews of dragon age :)

I seem to recall the big sites dropping reviews for recent games like Borderlands and Batman AA (which received stellar reviews) at or the day before release. I doubt there's any special conspiracy for DA:O.
