 Since the latest patch I've noticed split second white flashes often when my character selects a line of dialouge. As if there was lightning just offscreen or something. It seems to happen whenever dialogue is being loaded or something. Before the patch the only time I ever saw it was when Varric tells me how he's heard of me at the beggining og Act 1. Now when Isabella first shows up at my house, most of the lines I click on resutl in a very distracting white flash first. Does anyone know the cause or what I can do about it?

I've been seeing these since release day, I thought i was the only one.

The line with Varric always produces it for me, it's very fast, kind of looks like a flash bulb going off off screen.

For me, this happens for me when Death Syphon is active. It goes away when I turn off the ability. There are random white flashes on characters during cut scenes.

I've also had this since the first release- I have the Steam release. I notice it mostly during cut scene conversations, but it doesn't always happen. I first thought it was if there was loot on the ground, and the sparkle effect was caught in a certain camera angle, but later this was dispelled for me when this ocassionally began to happen in the main menu.

If someone figures this one out let me know. This is something that actually has stopped me from playing the game from time to time, I have light sensitivity due to epilepsy and chronic migraines, and so far has been my only real gripe with the game. I really like it otherwise.

I don't see this often, but do see it sometimes since the 1.2 patch. Fullscreen DX11 on an ATI 5770 video card using the Beta drivers linked to in this forum.

I have it happen with Varric's intro cutscene everytime as he begins the dialog with Hawke. It happens in both DX 11 and 9. I have the game on both PC and 360 and it happens on both in just that one conversation for me. Its almost as if he goes into a negative color scale for a just a fraction of a second (like a photo negative) and I never see it again after that. It may happen more often, but that seems to be the only one I notice every time.

I was full screen in DX11 with all the options turned on, and as Grimmoir said, the Varric intro scene has one of these flashes every time for me.

Probably safe to say this is a fullscreen issue then. Thanks. (if anyone has this in windowed let me know!)

Tested windowed mode for yea.
Windowed @ 720p
DX9 = white flash
DX11 = white flash
Video example here

This was all done using Avissel's example. Upon meeting Varric for the first time goto (Investigate > You know who we are?). The first flash happens right after clicking "You know who we are?" option. Second flash noticed when Varric goes to pace back and forth after finishing his first line. This happens 100% of the time for me even if using esc fo mash through the conversation. Actually mashing esc seems to cause even more white flashing to occur. Pretty much happening every time you hit esc.

What stands out to me about this is it seems to happen whenever an animation script is firing. But it is not consistent through all characters and conversations.

Other notes:
- Running dual EVGA 9800 GTX+'s in SLI (only goes to direct x 10 support).
- Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
- Nvidia drivers 270.61

Let me know if you need anything else.

edit: further testing shows this does also happen in DX9 using the same conversation example listed above.
edit2: added youtube link
