I loved those games. The cheesy humor was great. I also liked Cate Archer as a protagonist. It has been ages since I played either of them.
Most underrated games?

Loom is underrated. It's one of the most original and unique adventure games ever made, yet the most unknown of all LucasArts adventures.

I'm so glad I found the Off Topic forum... people can actually mention DA2 as an underrated game and the thread doesn't devolve into misery.
Now I will try to be on topic and say FFVIII. The DA2 of it's time?
Your understanding of the term "underrated" is kinda jaded.
When people say " underrated" they tend to mean a forgotten, unpolished diamond that for one reason or another slipped past the radar of masses and media alike. Underated game is one that never got much attention from publisher. Game that never got to prove itself.
Ultra hyped AAA games like FF VIII or DA 2 that receive loads of flak by unsatisfied masses aren't underrated - certainly not in context most people have when speaking of an underrated title.

IMO DA2 is extremely underrated.

also, I kind of liked Prototype, which a lot of people hated. Didn't have much replayability, but it was fun for what it was.

I think Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines was underrated. It only got 8's when it came out, but it's a really original, innovative, fun and DIFFICULT game. In fact I think it doesn't fit into any category of games. It's unique.

I think I might include Zack and Wiki : Barbaros' treasure in the list. That and Little King's Story are the best third-party wii games I've played, but nobody mentioned them... So sad...

Prototype was great - had a lot of fun with it and loved Alex Mercer. Most people I know enjoyed it, so I didn't put it on my list. Wondering about the 2nd part though... I will not kill Alex Mercer...
I'd also have to add Jade Empire - I liked it, it was different. Sadly that seemed to have some people off though.

I can't believe I forgot this one until now:
The Legend of Spyro series. Good plot, great characters and gameplay, and a beautiful ending.

Okami of course. Every bit as good as the 3D Zelda games and it has an original, captivating setting.
Oh yeah, and here's a game I bet none of you kids have even heard of.
TECH ROMANCER for the dreamcast! Game is 10 years old but it's still one of my favorite fighting games! Best mech fighting game ever!
