Sometimes, it's the little things in a game that drastically change how you feel about a game.
This time, one of the things that has bothered the heck out of me in this game is the fact that all a character needs to prevent infection, chemical burns, eye irritation, and exposure to the extreme cold in the vacuum of space is a simple "rebreather" over the mouth and nose.

Landing on a planet with a toxic atmosphere with a thick acidic fog doesn't seem like the kind of place where you would want to leave your eyes or skin exposed .
Take a look a Miranda's, Mordin's, or Jack's equipment when they enter a hostile atmosphere or environment. It just doesn't fit.

I don't mind it, I don't not like it, but I don't really like it either. Makes sense for Krogans.

Just for the sake of curiousity, does anyone have a tally of how many times people have complained about this? I expect somewhere in the triple digits at least.

I agree it was really stupid in ME2. They made so many armors for Shepard, but neglected a good number of squaddies. At least in the first game they all had enviro-suits. All squadmembers better have them in ME3 too If any toxic or hostile environments are to be visited.

Well maybe they'll do something about it eh?

Not in ME2, ME3 I mean.

does not bother me and too honest its easier to have a mask like that than a helmet simply because of ruining the cinematic effect, having to have a different head for characters and taking up more valuable memory than just a simple breathing mask

So did I, but to be fair the internet is inherently toxic, that's to be expected I suppose as this is about the only way we anti-social deadpan snarking cynics can tolerate communicating with these annoying creatures you call humans.

The BioVirus has been administered. Please exit the threads in an orderly fashion.

I get where you're coming from, but frankly, it was more about the the cosmetic look of it that turned off fans.

It's sci-fi. You can get away with flinging blue glowy stuff from your mind, and aliens performing Gilbert and Sullivan. Anything goes.

We've had lots of threads point it out. So hopefully they'll give us the choice to change up the uniforms for Me3.

Yeah pretty much.

Considering it seems like they're re-using Liara's Shadow Broker outfit for ME3, I'm not holding my breath. It'll be awesome to have the entire crew floating in space at some point skin and eyes exposed to the vacuum. Pfft I don't need a helmet when I have my Visor! It's like a monocole; a monocole that can zap enemies of their health, let me breath air, and protect my head from random explosive fragments.

It's space wizards. Move on.

Also, barriers seem to hold in oxygen. Problem solved.

or how about your remember it's a GAME focused on CHARACTER INTERACTION and CONVERSATIONS. which is a bit hard to do if you can't see anyone's face, hence all the boggle with the one-piece DLC armours being useless for THAT VERY REASON.

Obviously enough that perhaps Bioware should consider going back to putting armor on their characters when appropriate instead of brushing everything aside in the name of the "Rule of Cool"

The game's lore says otherwise

Yeah, that was kind of ridiculous. I hope ME3 will feature full helmets again.

Common sense > looking pretty.

Ohohoho all these explanations as to how they didn't die from exposed environments.

It all comes down to bad thinking and design on BioWare's part. I mean... come on... the vacuum of space and Jack is wearing a gas mask... and an exposed body. Along with the Klixen planet filled with green dangerous acidic fart gas.

"Let me wear a gas mask but expose my hot blue cleavage" says Samara, the intelligent Justicar. However we all know exposed cleavage is immune to everything but Shepard's charms.

Alright joking aside I really do hope ME3 has a better "space outfit" for each squad member. I mean seriously, at least seal their body up in some sorta suit, as ConnotCompute said above, it is ridiculous.

Strange, Tali seems to have easily overcome the limitation and, as far as I know, the character interaction and conversations with her seem quite popular. Water under the bridge by now in any case...

Wearing proper helmets during a small handful of missions is also rather different than wearing them all the time. Especially considering most of the times in ME2 you had helmets on you were mostly focused on combat. About the only place that was dialogue and cutscene heavy that was the exception was The Migrant Fleet, where it definitely made sense and I could never bring myself to ever take companions who didn't dress properly there as a result. In fact, I tried to avoid that overall once I'd sussed out which places really should have bad squaddies properly sealed (which meant a lot of Tali and Garrus with me).

Yeah, they really do need to get over this whole "rule of cool" affair with ME3 and start making the universe believable, consistent and logical again instead of turning it into a farce.
