Noveria and all Rachni sidequests in ME1 were written by Chris L'Etoile.

Ashley was written by Chris L'Etoile.

My first instinct was to facepalm at this, but it actually makes some sense.

In any case, L'Etoile has nothing to do with the series anymore, while the whole rachni situation - looking at the meeting in ME2 - could still go either way.

for those of us who dont feel like breaking out ME1 what happens
also i highly doubt they will betray me and if they do oh well live learn and go replay ME1 and kill them

Actually, I let the Queen live because it would be epic to fight either with or against a real Rachni army in the future. I rewrote the Heretic Geth for similar reasons. I wouldn't mind if they turn on me- it will only make the universe more interesting.

I rewrote the Geth because if I can't make peace between the Quarians and the Geth, I want the Geth to have a sufficient army to destroy the Quarians :o

Yes, that's a good reason too.

I kind of wished that the Rachni would rise again and at least wipe out the Turians (and perhaps Humans along with them, I don't mind). I also kept the Genophage cure for the same reason: I hope the Krogans would rise again with terrible and yet controlled aggression under Wrex's leadership and take back what's theirs.

well, we all know that some of the rachni will be turned into husks and you will have to kill them, but i hope the queen will help shepard

What difference does it make for the Rachni to be turned into Husks, from Shepard's point of view? It's not like you could sit down and have tea with them before they were turned into Husks.

Plus, Husks are boring. I wish there'd be more varied enemies in ME3- enemies which at least appear sentient, instead of dudes making weird noises and walking in weird postures like Husks, Geth, Collectors, which really are glorified versions of the basic generic zombie.

An army of Rachni united under the single purpose of revenge upon a galaxy who almost caused their extinction sounds very appealing to me.

Maybe not 'right arm' so much as 'uneasy buiseness partner and scapegoat' sorta deal
