Zulu you do realize that the person who writes a character or the background for a race is not the same person who writes what is going to happen to them right?

Yes, I do realize that retcons happen.

But I also think that implementation of the Rachni as enemies (with the Queen as a miniboss), rather than as allies, is:

a) easier;
B) in BioWare's terms, more awesome;
c) the most natural of all the possible "bites in the arse" for the paragons (and everybody knows there need to be a couple), especially since the initial writer, presumably, intended it this way from the beginning.

Can we all just stop fighting already? We already know that the ****ing Rachni are going to bite us in the asses because they end up Huskified, just like every other alien race in Mass Effect 3. Cyber Jesus, Zulu quit spotting your crazy theories, you Glenn Beck of BSN.

Let's see...

1. Zulu says Rachni are going to bite the paragons in the arse.
2. Rachni indeed are going to bite the paragons in the arse.
3. Zulu, stop being Glenn Beck of the BSN!!!

Here's the thing: rachni getting husked has nothing to do with your bizarre logic.  They're gonna get husked simply because they are there to get husked.  That's really just a side-effect of the choice to save them.  A true ass-biting would be them being mass indoctrinated via the queen and turned against you, not killed and husked like any other poor bastard Reaper casualty.

Who says otherwise?

Who says that your precious Cerberus hasn't been cooking up Rachni clones?  After all, a Renegade like yourself stupidly gave away the Collector Base to Cerberus.  Its not like that wont bite you in the ass, right?

Of course not.

In any case, even if the renegades encounter the very same amount of Rachni opposition in ME3 as the paragons, it will not count as "bite in the arse". It'll count as "slap in the face":

1. Freed the Queen? You fight the Rachni BECAUSE of that.
2. Killed the Queen? you fight the Rachni IN SPITE of that.

Hence, the point stands.

If the Rachni Queen helps me in ME3, I'll have another ally. If she doesn't, I'll deep fry them in coconut batter and eat them. It's a win-win.

I'm fairly certain what the squad says in regards to the rachni queen is not dependent on their personalities, but more like what the game decides for you. At least, that's been the case with the majority of the series so far.

It's a priority thing.  Take Wrex, and Ash is pro-rachni-saving.  Take Kaidan, and she's not.

Who is to say the Rachni aren't husks on the reaper ships from the last harvest of the galaxy and they've just been "asleep" until now? Maybe the Rachni choice to save/kill them isn't going to "bite us" in the ass, but open up new opportunities.

You can turn things around either way, if the rachni-husks are actually from the reaper ship or another source, perhaps having the Queen will enable her to temporarily "sweeten the song" so you can kill them easier or turn them against the reapers.

I don't think it will come to pass, but I would indeed find it hilarous if the only Paragon decision of all two games I *always* make (and yes, I admit sentimentality has an effect there) comes back to bite me in the behind.

How about we wait for the actual game to come out or an official confirmation before we presume anything.

Id love the Rachni situation to be taken care of using the side mission from ME1.

If you took out all the wild / Cerberus Rachni..and saved the queen...they'll only be allies in ME3...if you didn't...and killed the queen...they'll only be enemies.

Or whatever combination...etc.

No Zulu I am not talking retcons

ok, let me give you an example

Mary Kirby wrote Varric for DA2 but whatever happens to him in the course of the game is NOT up to her. She only wrote his personality and backstory...same for the Rachni, the fact Drew wrote them and made Ashley always give the "kill the bugs" suggestion means nothing because IF the Rachni come back to bite us in the butt it will not be up to him.

Exactly, so it has nothing to do with Ashley personally.

I'm sorry, Zulu, but you're wrong in your assessment here. I mean, yes, the Queen may very well turn on us at some point, but the way you concluded that is invalid.

Actually, it wouldn't meaning anything if it was up to him. Authors do make their characters give "wrong" suggestions. Ashley is written like this - recommending to  kill the queen - because that is in character for her. It means nothing for how the Rachni will actually behave, it's not some kind of hidden advance warning.

I believe Zulu knows that. He just likes to provoke.

No, she isn't. She cautions that this is the last of their race but she doesn't actually advocate saving her and if you decide to kill the queen she wont' argue with you about it.

Also, rachni husks as proof that the Rachni will be bad guys is silly. Think about it; if the Rachni were always supposed to be our enemy and are always allied with the Reapers due to indoctrination or whatever, why turn them into husks? They'd be much more useful as normal indoctrinated slaves. Husks suck and can't really do much compared to say Saren.

Husks are usually made out of the expendable enemy; you don't convert perfectly capable allies into less capable husks. When you need expendable shock troops, huskify your enemy. Turn your enemy's numbers against them.

Personally, I see Rachni husks as proof that they aren't going to bite me in the butt. Which is a good thing cuz they spit acid and acid hurts.

Though it does make me wonder what paragon decision will come full circle on me. My money is on the Geth rewrite. Good thing I never actually do that.

Where is the fun in that? I mean, Mass Effect series has degenerated into a dull 3rd person  pew-pew arcade with a series of plot holes to justify the pew-pewing, so all it's good for is now betting on where they will miss out on a plot hole.

Seriously? Can you tell me what made you so sentimental about it? I mean, it's a BUG!!! And an ugly one at that.
