The alternative being the destruction of Earth and the utter and complete victory of the Reapers?

So the Turians die either way?

EDIT: I want to say "no" since turians are my second favorite species, but in the long run I would (sacrifice a few for many, and all that jazz).

No, Garrus lives or everyone dies, there is no middle ground. The rest of the Turians can burn in hell though.

Well, let's say if you don't sacrifice the Turians, the odds of winning are about 15%. What would you do?

Since if you don't everyone is screwed anyway, then yeah.

Now, if I had to choose between them and, say, the asari... Space babes go bye-bye.

I'm convinced the "space babes" are actually some kind of hideous abominations that project an image of whatever the person viewing them wishes to see into their weak willed minds.

No, an honorless victory is one not worth having.

The entire species? No.
The Turian Councilor (if not sacrificed in ME1)? Absolutely. I loathe Councilor Quotation.

Let the Turians survive, thus strengthening the bond between the Turians and Humans. Take our tiny chance against the Reapers. The interspecies cooperation would make the Asari, Salarians, Quarians, Drell, Hanar, Krogan, Geth and possibly the hated Batarians realize that we're all in this together. We either die fighting as brothers united on the fields of death before the Reapers, like countless galactic civilizations before, or we die as separate civilizations, willing to trade each other off for a few short years of cowardly existence.

I'll sacrifice humanity waaaay before I sacrifice any of the aliens

edit: Well, maybe I'd sacrifice the asari first.

@Rurik_Niall: Me, too. Creepy, ain't it?

Also, if it's the 15% scenario, then I agree with 100k.

He's not allowed to die either, not until I've had my fill of air quoting him.

Shepard: "Ah yes... "Reapers." The "ancient" race of "sentient machines" which "allegedly" are "bombarding" the "Citadel" at this very "moment."

Councilor ******: "Damn it Shepard I-"

Shepard: "Cut the feed Edi."

Letting the entire species die wouldn't accomplish much but a heavy death toll but their massive fleet of dreadnoughts being sacrificed in one last ultimate battle to save the galaxy is another matter.

Also, as a human I would sacrifice EVERY other alien species if it meant defeating the Reapers and saving humanity (I'd still shoot TIM in the face and disband Cerberus so it's not a renegade thing) but I  HOPE  it doesn't come to that. Sorry, I'm kind of partial to my own self preservation and to me self preservation includes having a large and viable population to repopulate with. Yes, the "having lots of blue children" option is there but I'm still partial to my own species survival.

If some of you want to be the ultimate pessimists and focus on only the bad and ignore all the good in humanity then so be it. I think I lean somewhere between realist and idealist (to quote a Ash and Shep conversation)

Now I'm picturing a Virmire scenario where it's all "The Turian and Asari homeworlds are about to be blown up! WHICH ONE WILL YOU SAVE??" :P

Jealous of attractive looking women?

As for me, if it is meant to defend Earth, then yes, my femshep would sacrifice the Turians to defeat the Reapers.

I'd gladly sacrifice Tali and the entire Quarian race if it saves the Turians. The Turians are said to be the most militarily advanced species in the galaxy so their support would be essential/greatly appreciated in the war, along with the possible army of Geth, Rachni, and other Council races that will help me. This final battle is going to be epic.

Seeing as they have the largest military fleet presence, I would sacrifice Earth. However, this would cripple humanity's role in the galaxy in an economic perspective if such a victory is ensured. It rather is a hard decision regardless.

Uhh...if it was the only option...and there was literally no chance of winning...then yes.

Granted, I wouldn't like it at all, and would try my best not to have any regret about it...but hey, Organic Life would be saved...and many trillions would be saved.

I'd sacrifice humanity if I had to, to save the rest of the sentient species.

There's more to winning than brute strength though, the Turians may be space Romans, but the Quarians are the best damn mechanics in the galaxy. Give a Quarian some scrap metal and Ezo and she'll have it doing precision jumps, station some Quarians on each ship and there's nothing in the galaxy that'll stop you.

Hell no. They're a cool race due to their design which is a mix of avian and dinosaurs, AND I LOVE DINOSAURS!
