my shepard would set up on illium with miranda and run a paramilitary group who specilises in hunting down slavers (colonist born and raised(well....till sixteen i spose)).
anyway, he will fight until he has the largest adopted military force in the galaxy and make sure that EDI keeps it on the straight and narrow. so if someone go's rogue or a bad leader takes over after shepards death than she will "terminate" them.
in the end he will have patrols on every colony every 2 days with constant moniters for slavers and if they are they hit a beacon and the nearest patrol is only a few hours away and hot on the tails of the slavers, he will however protect all species, not just humans. he will also dedicate alot of his earnings from the slavers bases to replicating reaper technology so that they can never be caught off guard ever again. he will also attack any wrongdoers, people similar to donovan hock, the rich overpaid criminal scum of the galaxy. this organisation will be made up of each species, be it rachni, geth, quarian (who i engineered peace with), even batarians if they're willing.

Ooooohhh, I like this. I like this a lot.

My Shep would continue travelling across the galaxy spectring with his LI Jack.
If that's not possible than f*ck the galaxy, he'll go pirate and live like a king.

He would go to live as a hermit in some wilderness area on some planet where he would shout "I saved the galaxy!" at confused passers-by, and possibly serve as the mentor for the protagonist of the next game.

And one day finally finding some where to settle down.

Ontarom - that is where my main Shep plans to settle down with Gianna, unfortunately its moon's orbit is a bit unstable an it will crash into the planet in the near future. But if he saves the Galaxy, he might be able to gather enough resources to correct that flaw - who can deny the savior of the Galaxy!
See you there!

Look for Shepard & Parasini - Private Investigators - No job ist too hard for us - We operate in the whole Galaxy!

My Shep won his retirement spot fair and square on penicle station. The difference is the purchasing of more pre-fabs for the rest of the squad to spend time on vacation. They have the annual stuck it to the Illusive Man BBQ and Victory of the Reapers day target shooting tournament... Legion is always accused of cheating though.

I expect BIoware will tell us as we beat ME3 <.< Though would be fun if we had an option to choose :P

Ideally, I'd be a Spectre afterwards while working with Liara

My Shepard is from mass Effect 1 and gone through 2 and she is no where near retiring. she's on a hunt for a Ruthless Batarian that tried to destroy a world with an Astroid she let go to save the workers that were trapped. Now she's out flying the Terminous sector hunting for him after that she'll be back to fight the Reapers some more. Be nice if someone would promote her from Commander to Captain someday lol.

Garrus and Shepard take a small ship and wander the galaxy, righting whatever wrongs they want to (with the intel of the Shadow Broker, no less). They'll stop by to help friends out from time to time, but they're not working for anyone. No Alliance, no Cerberus. Just them killing baddies because it's what they do.

Mine isn't retring. I'll kill TIM, take over Cerberus and rule the galaxy. Plus, Shepard is a cyborg, odds are he's immortal now.

No settling down for the Spectres! Assuming the fight in ME3 would be good and my Shepard would want to continue being a Spectre after all is over. (An apartment on the Citadel would be nice to have, though.)

Maybe I should have asked where would your Shep choose to raise his/her kids. Yes that would have been more accurate.

Would raise the kids on the Citadel, since that would probably be where I rule the galaxy from.

I am 100% serious about this, btw. If galactic emperor is unfeasible, whatever the highest realistic political office is. Probably Councilor, so would still be raising kids on the Citadel.

What's this about kids? Unless it's Liara, Femshep and Maleshep are both corpes! They possibly cannot reproduce with other humans. Tough luck guys.

My Shepard will be going to a nice little cabin in the woods by a lake for a few weeks with Liara for some fishing and some "private time". Once thats done he'll do a few public appearances before hopping onto a ship with her and starting a new life on a distant planet.

My Shepard would never settle down. In my head, Garrus becomes a Spectre and they become inseparable partners who work together to right the wrongs of the universe, becoming paragons of justice and right. Poems will be written and songs will be sung in their honor. Statues of them will be erected. And when it's time for them to go, the galaxy will weep for their passing.

Shepard wasn't meant for babies and playing house. Shepard is a warrior goddess.

This, pretty much. A regular trip with the Normandy SR3 into unknown space and a honeymoon to Terra Nova.

He won't just settle down after defeating the Collectors, he'll take the Normandy and continue fighting wrong-doers across the galaxy. He's too much of a spacer to simply settle down on a planet.

Shepard, settle down? What? I'm sorry, those words are not in Shepards vocabulary! He'll find new enemies to fight, new reporters to punch, new Krogans to greet and new bucketheads to romance.

My Shepard will travel to the top of the Reaper home while listening to various voices in his head speaking to him. He'll sit at the pinnacle and rest for 50,000 years awaits his return from dark space to be the next Vanguard......

I want a party on the Normany and then retire to that pad you get from Pinnacle Station.
