Anders. Enjoyed it immensely, but it was so emotionally draining I don't know if I can go through that again. :crying:

I'm fascinated by people and their love for Fenris's voice! To each their own, of course, but I actually started laughing the first time I heard it. I think it just didn't match what I was expecting. Not sure what I was expecting... maybe more British. :)

My first character romanced Anders.  I liked him in Awakening, so I was excited when I found out he would be a LI in DA2.  As others have said, I liked the kiss.  The piling up on Hawke's bed and dry humping part, not so much.

First playthrough: friendmanced Fenris. Don't have much of an opinion on it, really...other than I would have enjoyed more character conversations like in DAO camp. By the end of DA2, there's only around 5-7 short conversations with your companions.
- I want help.
- Have a tiny update conversation, flirt/tango.
- I want more help.
- Gift. If on rivalry path, "This gift really pisses me off, thank you. By the way since I hate you I also love you and will never leave your side."
- Another tiny conversation, flirt/tango.

Whenever I play through the game again, I guess I'll try friendmancing Anders.

Well, it is a unique voice, for a unique character.  It fits because it doesn't, almost. If *that* makes sense. :)

I am in the love-the-voice camp. The thing about his voice, to me, is that it sounds.... tinny.  Like, he recorded it in his bathroom or something.  heh. It was just, there was a tiny touch of this metallic, echo to it.  Where the others had more of a smooth finish.  Apparently hard to describe in words.  It makes perfect sense in my head.   :P

I think I will give a Fenris rivalmance a go.  I hope I don't tear my hair out.

Who did you nail on your first playthrough and what did you think?

Isabela and then Merrill.

I thought making everyone bisexual was a great idea.

I flirted with everybody, but ended up pursuing Isabela. Anders and Merrill were two different methods of clingy, while Fenris was too broody for my taste.

I love his voice.  Very masculine and he conveys the smoldery rage well.  Not sure how he could get more British sounding.

Who's better in bed, Anders or Fenris?

What a very strange question since there are no actual explicit sex scenes in the game or any physical manifestation (well, I'd truly hope not). So I'd love to see how people answer this question!

Fenris.

First romance I did was Fenris'. Second was Anders. I thought both of their romances were well done but I preferred Fenris'. And a big part of that has to do with his voice. But the dialog was pretty amazing as well.

Neither romance was perfect, and I still think the time gap between acts 2 and 3 made them both kind of weird (3 years is just TOO LONG). But for what they were, they were good.

Edit: Fenris' accent really isn't British, but it shouldn't be -- he's from Tevinter and does have a slight accent (I think it's actually South African, but I'm not sure).  But I do love his voice.  It is masculine and his VA got the just-under-the-surface rage down.

Second edit: As far as who is better in bed?  Hah, that depends on which fanfics you read!  They both impressed Isabela and that is probably saying a lot.

I think I kind of understand what you're saying about the tinny-ness. I think. :) AND about it fitting because it doesn't fit. It has really grown on me. I don't laugh anymore, anyway. ;) I'm currently rivalmancing him and it's pretty rewarding.

It is very masculine. Maybe that was the problem: an elf, with a big manly man voice. But I've come to like it.

He's just one of the only characters without a British/Welsh/Scottish accent, but that's kind of nice. I like the variety.

I couldn't agree more. My female Hawke romanced Anders and the kiss scene was really great. The rest not so much.

Also, I had a hard time to like Anders in DA 2. And I really, really wanted to, because I liked him a lot in Awakening, but his constant agenda was annoying me. So, all in all the Anders romance was a bit disappointing.

In my current playthrough with my male Hawke I'm trying to romance Isabela. I'm curious how that turns out.

Ok so even though I realize I run the risk of being verbally slammed here (pun intended) I have to say I was dissapointed when I saw the content of this forum addressed to the ladies. I am a gamer-girl and have been for years now, and I am constantly finding that I run into the stereotype of the female gamer no matter where I go or what I choose to play. In MMORPG games I actually play as a male a lot of the time because when guys find out I am female they expect a lower quality of play, or assume I want all my armor to match, or that I want to do quests to get "pretty" rewards etc. Not all of us gamer girls are like that; some of us are out there kicking butt hardcore, right along with the guys (and to keep it even, some guys like THEIR armor to match and like collecting pretties.)
Having said that, yes I do like the interpersonal connections in DA2, and I am in no way judging ANYONE who plays specifically for the romance and the character content because who am I to judge? I am just saying that directing romance-based discussions towards "ladies" in particular helps perpetuate a stereotype that some of us are growing tired of.

I nailed Anders in my first playthrough 'cause I had a thing for him since Awakening. The only thing I regret not having is actually ability to smack him right in the face at the end when he asked me to run away with him. Ofc I would do that, but at least some kind of punishment was in order - he was an jack-ass through entire Act 3 and somehow he gets it too easy at the end from Hawke... so for me, punching him straight in the face and yelling and then kissing him would work just fine for me. Fenris ending was way better in that regard, what can I say, I liked the fact that emo boy wasn't that emo at the end and as a woman I like that tiny bit of male integrity - show some strength for god's sake :) .

Fenris while playing as a male character, which probably made the nailing bit a little easier. The friendly romance storyline worked surprisingly well despite being a mage and disagreeing with him about most things.

My first play through was Anders, while my second was Fenris. Of the 2, even being high maintenance, Anders was far more satisfying. Getting dissed for 3 years after a one day relationship rather irritated me. Especially since he still followed you around wearing your favor anyway.

Fenris

Almost did Anders too, but he ran away crying after I got mad at him for calling Fenris an animal.
