(You may want to be a bit more careful about statements about selling souls, your thread will get locked and you may even face a ban).
At the end of the day it's all speculation because none of us really know what's going on inside these companies.
What's done is done. Time to move on.

It isn't done for everyone. A lot of people have only finished the game recently. They deserve a good loud rant over their wasted money as much as the next guy.

People need to lay off DAII if they made it the same as the first you would have people ****ing about that, no developer can win these days, everyone thinks they can do better so they complain...how narrow minded. Enjoy it for what it is dont complain about what it is not, or there will always be complaints...people like to feel important so they rant on forums...I liked DAII, was is perfect, no, but nothing ever is, is it? I also love the irony of people who buy the game, then complain!?! I mean there was a demo, if they did not like that what made them buy the game...dumbshi*s
People had faith in Bioware that they could compensate combat with a great story, great characters, great dialogue, etc. They are not dumb.

Some people don't like the game, other love it. Get to grips with that. No game in history has ever been able to be everything to everyone.

Latest rumors out is that DA3 will be out in 18 months - not a good sign if true - what happened to the old "it will be done when it's done"?
EA happened.
Apart from the recycled areas (the one thing we all seem to agree on) they did a pretty good job making DA2 in 18 months.
I suspect they (Bioware) will stick to their current "formula" so they can concentrate on creating a great DA3.
Don't forget, for DA2 they had to update their engine, re-do the art style, rethink combat mechanics and build the game, all in 18 months! Now that these things are all in place, I'm sure we can expect to see some great future Dragon Age titles.

More people hated DA2 than loved it. That's a failure in my books.
Bold statement, do you have the figures to back that up? No? Didn't think so.

Now normally this might not be a problem, for normal companies they would tweak the game fix the problems or even go back and change major parts of a game to which they would get alot of praise and win back the affections, especially if they appologised and promised never to do it again, look at SOE and SWG, they did something hugely unpopular with the majority of players and got alot of bad press and while their rep was already tarnished it was destroyed by the CU and NGE, in the end John Smedly had to appologise about it and it tampered the fires a little (problem was they did it too late) also they made changes in the game for people still playing it, but not enough for those who had quit.
Here it is a problem, I can bet alot of people in BioWare (especially the ME3 team and the SW:TOR team) are extremely unhappy at the DA2 team because they dropped the ball with DA2 and now ME3 will probably suffer somewhat for it, questions they will be asking are how many people will pre-order or how many will now wait until the reviews are out? Will people be rushing to the shops for this or will they be aprehensive.
Problem here is that the Mass Effect series has been a good quality series with a great story, there were problems but the core elements of the game was intact (good combat, great story, lots of choice, polished product without game breaking bugs) as these are the problems with DA2, people will be wanting to hang back a bit as if the end is anything less than great there will be alot of anger and back-lash.
If ME3 is everything we hope then it will save BioWare's rep somewhat, if it isn't then their next problem will be SW:TOR as it will have a hugely negative impact on sales. DA2 will probably negatively affect the ME3 sales, but not by much, if they both flop then SW:TOR is dead before it's even released.
I know at this point I probably won't pre-order ME3, I'll probably wait until the reviews are out before I decide to get it or not, and if ME3 turns out to be as bad as DA2 then I won't be getting SW:TOR any time soon.

EA sports games are right up there in the top tier.
Crysis 2 ,well worth the title of AAA game.
Sims Med.
Then you have DA2. I think people are blaming EA too much here because the alternative of actually blaming Bioware is unthinkable.

DA2 is great!

How long was Crysis2 in development? talk to me when Crysis3 comes out in 1 year. I respect many EA games, but to bring up sports? Madden waent Guitar Hero a long time ago n' the only reason it sells is 'cause EA bought the exclusives to the NFL license ( I still play NFL 2K5 when i want a good football game.)BobSmith101 wrote...

Bioware made the game so they get the blame or the praise from me.
And I think many of us were around in the months during the development of DA2 and we remember the devs coming on here and meticulously discussing all the changes they've made, and the reasons they made them. Like it or not, they *literally* took credit for each of these changes, specifically saying that they were ALL design decisions that THEY sat down and chose to make.
If your stance is that what happened with DA2 was a "crime", then you need look no further than Bioware. They confessed.

Aaah, but that's the thing. They didn't HAVE to do any of this. They *chose* to. They could have left the combat mechanics alone, the UI alone. And then they would have had 18 months to make a truly rich game worthy of the DA namesake -- one that had zero recycled maps (for example)Dubya75 wrote...

And lets come down now. 18 months is not a short development time when you've already got an existing game engine. Bioware managed to produce Baldurs gate 2 in about 18 months.
