Hey guys,

Hopefully a reply on this thread this time :P, Baldur's Gate veteran here, I'm looking to start replaying the game soon, but I want add the best mods available for my kind of game experience. With this I mean, I'm not really looking for mods to add to the games difficulty, but mods that add content to the existing games without screwing everything up with bugs of conflicting mods. The more mods I can add the better (aka the more added content the better), also with unlimited level cap (or something close like it), I'm a bit of an xp hunter in my playstyle and I don't mind overpowered characters if I 'worked' for it ;-). But most of all I'd love to add extra story elements/quest etc... without screwing up the main game.

Can anyone recommend me a modlist (and install sequence of this list) on how to get the most bang out of my buck concerning the baldur's gate mods that are flying around?

Thanks!
Sengir

are you talking about BG1, BG2, or both?

What you're looking for then would be the Big World Project then? It let's you add lots of content and for ease of use automates the installation proces. It won't let you fine-tune the mods though (within each mod you install the choices are made by the once who created BWP). But you can download the BWP manual as a guide and do an install by hand. What the BWP manual, does, is explain how mods are installed so as not to have avoidable conflicts.

Some useful links:
BWP installation instructions
BWP manual
complete list of all included mods with download links for all.

PS: I'm not a fan of BWP myself, as I like fine-tuning both games separetely so I got back to using Tutu and can't help a lot with BWP-specific questions. But it does seem the fitting answer to what you tell what you want though.

Thanks for the info, I bumped onto the big world project, but it seemed a bit daunting to me given the scale and I was looking for some more personal recommenations as to what works with each other and what doesn't and what mod is really worthwhile to add.

What personal mod install do you prefer for instance to give you the most out of the experience of playing again. I've played both games + add-ons quite a few times about 5 years ago, so I'm looking to add that extra interesting punch to expand the gameplay to the max :P

Congratulations, here's a cookie.

Seriously, you basically said the equivalent of "I'm looking for something fun, can you help?"

back to the OP - in terms of content, most people (not me but most people do) like extra content through NPCs (and their associated quests) and banter.  There's an NPC Banterpack along with a variety of NPCs.  Most competant NPC modders have added banters with the existing Bioware NPCs.

I've always liked The Undying mod from Chosen of Mysra - has extra encounters and monsters in addition to 2 new NPCs and their associated quests.  Might raise the power level of the game a bit in terms of items, but that's completely optional.

A lot of other players really like the Unfinished Business mod for BG2 as it restores a lot of the develper-planned content that got cut due to game release dates.
