To ignore Anders companion quest to distract the Grand Cleric? Can you proceed and see if the Chantry still blows up? I'm playing this time as a Mage and have romanced Anders, had him move in, etc.

Just curious to see what happens if you ignore this companion  quest.^_^

You can choose to not help him by ignoring his companion quests. At least after the chantry quest, this one must be done. But the Chantry will still blow up and it really doesn't change anything, so my advise would be help him. At least xp, money and loot.

It plays out the same regardless.  I think the only difference is Hawke doesn't get the "that's why you needed me to distract the grand cleric!" dialogue option.

The Chantry will blow up with or without your input. You simply don't get the satisfaction of knowing that you aided the destruction of a symbol of theocratic fascism.

Yes, but the Chantry will still blow up. I actually accidentally ignored that quest - or didn't get around to it - on my first playthrough, and the Chantry still gets blown to hell, your dialogue options immediately afterward are just slightly different. It ends up the same, though.
