Hi

I'm giving this game another go because I've had it a long time and never completed it and I wanted to give it a shot before I pay Dragon Age Origins for the 4th time.  Sadly I lost my progress from the last time I tried it because of  upgrading to a new computer after Christmas so I've had to start again!

Anyway, I have had decreased Movement Speed since the swamp cave (am now doing the graveyard) and now I've got decreased dexterity and constituion as well but I thought I recovered from the disease I got in the graveyard when I rested.  If anyone could advise me how to remove these issues I will be much obliged!  I thought I was carrying around too much weight for my character to handle even though it wasn't much but I still have the decreased speed even after I moved all the non equipped items to her companions.

Also, I have had a n issue with a party member being detatched from the controlled character and then not moving wtih them until they interacted with someone.  This happened with Bevil in the swamp cave and with Neeshka at Fort Locke (but she is moving with the PC and Khelgar now)  Again, any help would be appreciated.  I don't think I have pressed any of the wrong keys like the hold buttons on the Dragon Age games.

First, make sure you have the last patch installed.

Make sure you're not in search mode, sometimes the AI activates it for no apparent reason.
Other than that (or stealth mode), I don't know what could be the cause, but I recently got a bug with one of my companions moving slowly. This happened after he crossed an area which imposed a penalty to movement, but I don't remember such an area at that point in the OC. Maybe you were slowed by a trap or something and got that bug. Do you have the 'decreased movement' or 'slow' icon next to your portrait?

Make sure your companions are not in puppet mode, and give the order "Attack Nearest" (type V, W, E). If that doesn't work, I can't help you.

It's definitely decreased movement. i'm wondering though if it was poison or disease after all as my companions have since had it and it was definitely from a disease in their case but I fed Khelgar the cure disease potion and it removed it. Plus Neeskha had it before she was knocked unconscious but once she revived it was gone. I'm wondering if it would help if the PC got knocked out.

I declined the option to install the updates because I remember when I intalled the game on the old computer there were about a million updates and it took forever and took up far too much space as well. I will look into a patch though.

On the plus side, the PC no longer has the icon for decreased dexterity!

Lesser Restoration spell will probably remove the negative effects, which are probably due to the disease. When you rest the disease itself may go away because it has a limited lifespan but if you do not cure disease before the negative effects begin then those effects remain until restoration is done. I'm not speaking from some fount of definitive lore, just my own anecdotal evidence.

And you should absolutely patch up to 1.23.

Thanks, I'll bear that in mind. I don't have a spellcaster at present but I know Elanee isn't far off from when I played before so maybe she'll be able to help.

Depending where you are at...I tend to get the clerics idol from the bandits (stop there) than go save the captian in the graveyard. I do this cause if you get alot of those markers you can go back and he will heal you, removeing them. Though he won't heal until you have returned his idol to him. That and I try to keep atleast one remove dease for each of my chars on my main. I think there are some traps that crip you too so be carefull for them. I get these on my main char some times whehn I forget she's not my trap diasarmer and run right into them.

I recently learned that healing kits can also be used to cure disease and poison.

You can go get Elanee first thing when you leave Fort Locke - you don't have to do either the Bandits or Graveyard until afterwards. Just saying.
