Sure, it's conceivable that Bio's people were idiots. Do we have a reason to assume this?

The most alarming part of the interview was the fact that marketing (remember DA:O's awful campaign) actually collaborates on the design.

I'm trying to conjure up a picture of this in my mind, but I can't.

heres what i thought of.

Uhg... that 'button awesome' thing is the worst marketing ever. I mean, after the rest of the DA2 garbage marketing "Think like a general, fight like a Spartan!", "Here's five facts about Hawke, some guy you've never heard of and don't care about!".

They say that when they have an interview that fans all over both the forums and Internet are saying is a slap in the face. We have people speaking of boycotting Bioware games over it and not ONE response from anyone apologizing for their inconsideration.

but even the Lead Designer has a -ahem- boss. And it is Darrah, Mark Darrah, the project director.

Speaking of Mark Darrah,  here's what he said during his July 2010 interview in Game Informer about the direction of the Dragon Age series:

"A lot of RPGs are about character. In the case of Mass Effect, it's Shepard's story," Darrah says. "In Dragon Age, it's really the story of Thedas."

Yet, one of the biggest complaints about DA2 was that the game was narrowed down to a personel world of one character at the expense of the world around him. And didn't Laidlaw say in recent interviews that DA2 was suppose to be a personel story rather than the worn out epic adventure of good destoying evil?

It seems like at this stage in development, the project director and lead designer weren't on the same page.

And DA2 changes Thedas drastically. It can be a smaller and more personal story and yet keep a focus on the state of the world instead of a big epic adventure to destroy some evil.

So you learn more about Thedas and it's world in DA2, than you did in Origins?

You explore a different part of the world and by the time the credits starts to roll the world has changed very much very fast. How can that not be about Thedas?

Ah don't bust the poor guy's bubble like that.  I can sense the self satisfaction he was gaining about himself through his righteous indignation.  Even if it was all just imaginary.

Dragon Age 2 - It was oooh so close to being the Diamond it could have been. It just really needed, and indeed deserved an extra 9 - 12 months polishing time.

The interview was a good read. I always enjoy what the good doctors have to say. Fully confident they will take the issues with DA2 that people have and get DA3 spit shined to within an inch of its life.

Also: Holy BEEGEEZUS! I've been on these forums for years now and ONLY just this very second realised I could resize the window box I'm typing in!

I agree, that said the execution of it that I experienced in DA2 was far from desirable

I completely agree and in the end I ended up liking DA2 more than DAO despite its faults. I don't think many would argue that it could have used a few more months of polishing time. All in all I'm excited to see what they will do with DA3.

But I do think that personal insults against the devs and people on the forum is taking things to far. Maybe it will calm down in a few weeks.

"Seriously Bioware is an RPG developer"

NEWSFLASH: BIo's first game and 2 of their first 3 games weren't even RPGs.

"... It seems like Bioware is changing"

Nope. BIO's goals have remained the same.

"Including Xbox, PS2, and PC sales ME2 has only sold 2.4 million (granted digital sales are not included)"

Flat out lie. Why do you lie?

Despite the admittance of recognizing the disappointment of some fans, there was still this " they expected another Origins, stick in the mud old fogies" undertone to it.... to me anyway.

I could have had something VASTLY different from DA:O as long as two things were the same : my choices had consequences and my actions DID effect the world and the games end.

Not every disappointed fan wanted DA:O the second. Some of us simply wanted a true successor that felt like a successor. Not a rehash of the same game. The two things are not necessarily the same at all.

Exactly how I read it as well. How persumptious of us 'fogies' to expect it to be like Origins, being a sequel and all.

Yes, this. Exactly this.

I like DA2, I really do, but Origins was better. And I do not think this because I wanted another Origins.

So disgusted that you are going to leave bio forums for good?
