Sacrifice party or raise difficulty?

So I just completed the Mage Tower part and got Wynne, and immediately noticed the large decrease in difficulty (the rate of party deaths went down quite a bit). I'm currently using my DW rogue, Morrigan, Alistair and Wynne, and playing on normal.
So to make it a bit more fun for myself, I want to make it a bit more challenging, but not too much. So I was thinking of making Morrigan my half-healer-half-nuker and taking Wynne out, but also thought of simply raising the difficulty. So my question is, which would give the smaller increase in difficulty, taking Wynne out and making Morrigan a healer/nuker, or keeping the same party I have now and raising the difficulty to hard?
Also, for role-playing purposes, I'm romancing Morrigan (with my neutral-but-ever-so-slightly-evil rogue). Naturally, many of my convo choices gain disapproval from Wynne (and Alistair, for that matter).
Any help is appreciated :)

You probably won't even notice if you raise the difficulty from normal to hard, it seems very marginal. So i guess you should try that and if you still feel like it's to easy raise it to Nightmare.

Or you could give my Nightmare Plus mod a try, if you still feel Nightmare is too difficult easy :)

Almost all of the changes will take effect intermediately without starting a new game, except for the increase cost in potions.

Is the difference that small? Would putting it up to hard make still make it easier than having a more attack-orientated party (replacing Wynne with, say, Sten)?

Replacing Wynne for Sten will indeed make the game a lot more difficult. However, you should not be forced to replace a character you enjoy having with you.

My suggestion would be to change to Hard > Nightmare > Nightmare Plus. And if it's still too easy (though it won't be), then you can consider giving up on some of your character in favor of a more difficult composition of your party.

Remember, the effects of switching difficulty or adding/removing (difficulty) mods will show intermediately so you can always try changing the difficulty for a few battles and change your mind later. While if you remove a partymember you like, you might miss out on certain dialogs or special events from triggering.

Or just change Wynne's tactics off healing...

Give Wynne a bunch of damage spell tactics so she doesn't have much mana left for healing.

Or you could make Morrigan be a pure shapeshifter (never leave her forms).

Wynne is more fun in combat than Sten. Disable all tactics if you haven't already, then turn up difficulty before rearranging your party.

Morrigan can be just as powerful as wynne, once I got group heal for morrigan, I don't use wynne anymore
