The Chanters' Board is an up-and-coming roleplaying site set in the second act of Dragon Age II. We are gathering up a decent base of users already, but we could always use more roleplayers! If you're interested in joining us, please visit our site and read over the rules. Roleplaying in the main forums is open as of today, so if your biography is approved, you can get to posting!
We are aware that our icons are still Assassin's Creed themed, based on the style we used for the boards, but that will be changing this week. One of our more artistically-inclined players is creating us a custom set of icons.
Thanks for reading, and we hope to see you there!

I have never done this type of activity exactly before, but I am intrigued. Will I be ok?
We'd certainly be happy to have you! If you are new to forum RP (or RP in general), however, I'd recommend that you read over our rules and the FAQ prior to joining. If you find our guidelines acceptable, lurk for a while; read the posts and familiariz yourself with the setting, then start thinking of a character.
If you have any questions, feel free to drop by our IRC channel or give me (The Maker) a ping on the boards.

Thanks, I am really busy with revision at the moment , so I wouldn't have time for anything other than a bit of lurking. I am new to forum RP, and have never done pen & paper RP (by the time I stopped living in the back-end of nowhere I was too selfconscious) but I am familiar with the ideas and how it works. I'll hang around for a while before deciding if my creative writing is up to scratch

A good tip for coming up with a character is to just make the character's personality and occupation interesting. Your character doesn't have to be something unusual to be compelling - hell, most of our players are commoners, but their personalities shine through and make them intriguing. A blacksmith who is ill from breathing in smoke constantly, for example, is an unusual concept and a good place to start for making a character that has a "normal" existence, but an interesting hook.

hmm... i wonder if this is something i could get into. i've never done the "commoner" approach to RPing. (hell i've never RP'd outside of Dragonage type console games) so all my exposure has been "Hero of Fereldan/Champion of Kirkwall/other Epic Deed of Epicness". now obviously i cant be the Hero (or anyone of real authority) in this kind of community. but is it possible to assume the role of a Templar Knight, a Blood Mage, or an Antivan Crow? or something of the like. not just a merchant or a smith?
It is, yes. We have a handful of templars and apostates/blood mages, but we'd rather people avoid Antivan Crows due to their prestige and association with canon. That doesn't mean you can't create your own organizations, though. For example, one of my characters, Cencio, is an assassin, and I simply created an organization (The Black Hand - props to those that get it) that he belongs to instead of having him be a part of the Crows.
We do also keep a closer eye on people in positions of power, as there's more chance for abuse, and generally make people work for special things such as prestige classes etc.
