Title Update 1.02 - Planning and Prioritization

Title Update 1.01 included over 100 fixes but we're already hard at work on the next one. If you're still experiencing any major issues after installing Title Update 1.01, please provide further information in this thread. That will help us plan and prioritize for the future.

Be aware that knowledge of an issue doesn't inherently mean that it will be fixed in the next patch. We still need to prioritize the issues list, reproduce the issue internally, and finally identify and implement a suitable fix. Not all bugs survive this process but we'll do what we can. The sooner we're tracking the issue, however, the sooner we can
begin that process.

This post will serve as a summary of all posts in this thread which I will (hopefully) be able to keep up to date indefinitely.

Last time, there were lots of 'does Bioware know X? it isn't on the major issues list!' threads and posts so I'm going to try to list every single issue that gets raised here in an effort to alleviate this feeling and show that, as I kept saying, we are aware of everything that gets brought up on BSN.

--------------

Current issues, post 1.01:

General Issues

- Import Issues (Awakenings; re: Approval levels)
- Import issue with Zevran, Alistair and Morrigan (all)
- Olaf's Armory - Chest is invisible. Can still be interacted with, you just can't see it. (Act 3)
Companion Issues

- Carver goes from Grey Warden to Templar in act 3 during Best Served Cold hostage scene
- Isabela doesn't switch to her alternate outfit after the romance scene (requires using makers sigh to fix currently)
- Companions lose upgrades when they switch outfits
- Fenris' Dog conversation (Black Emporium) is not firing
- Merrill's 'Mourning' quest at the beginning of Act 2 is auto-completing. This quest is not supposed to be in the game so for now just disregard the message about it. (it does not affect your game at all)
- Varric's 'Friendly Concern' conversation trees are not firing for any LI except Anders currently
- Sebastian Vael - Despite having friendship maxed, his companion power does not show as active on his Abilities page (the bonus is working, however)
- Anders' rivalry dialog doesn't trigger (friendship instead) during endgame after the 'chantry part'
- Anders' Tevinter chantry amulet turn-in does not give the appropriate reputation modifier when in a rivalry
Quest Issues

- 'Who Needs Rescuing' quest still broken
- 'Sketchy on the Details' doesn't clear from the journal upon completion
- During 'Demands of the Qun' Aveline's guards are aggressive if you go to the docks at night
Combat Issues

- Varric's Disorienting Shot doesn't disorient (for more than a split-second)
- Modal abilities that should be exclusive are stacking if you toggle two of them on quickly
- Hawke can become immune to Injury occassionally
- Magic Resist is affecting Haste (causing the duration to be shorter, essentially resisting your own buff)
- Issues with Gravitic Ring under certain circumstances
Xbox360 Only Issues

- Epic achievement doesn't seem to fire without importing a DAO game (ie. doing two new playthroughs)
- Rare issues with the game freezing

Current issues that require new playthroughs (or older saves) in 1.01

- Slo-mo hawke (as well as other stat modifiers) are not retroactively fixed. The problem will not reoccur or get worse but whatever value you currently have will be stuck with you for now (there are many helpful threads about editting the save to manually fix the issue in the mean time)
- Aveline's 4th upgrade (Favor and Fault) will not appear if you've already entered the area once in Act 3 before applying the patch

Are you absolutely sure that the Isabela and Sebastian bugs will not get any worse? Because they still appear in the abilities screen when saving and reloading.

This is one issue we ABSOLUTELY need confirmation of. All the other bugs are minor and won't break the game (hopefully).

Yes, I'm as sure as I can possibly be. It was fixed last time we touched the game on xbox and PC users are reporting it as fixed. You can never be 100% due to the existence of :wizard::alien:.

It was mentioned on this patchnote:

"The effects of various follower talents and item properties are now being properly removed and re-applied when loading and saving."

This issue was much more widespread than just Isabela so we addressed it generally

'Forbidden knowledge' is that quest still broken? can you actually take the tomes now and still get the achievement instead of destroying everything?

In terms of getting the achivement, you need to destroy all the tomes to unlock the final area. This is not a bug. Currently, if you do in fact read or keep one the quest will stay active. This is a bug.

On a side note, if you make it in to the final area, where you fight the demon, you can read that tome for the +2 stats

Have the Plot Summary Flagging issues when importing a save from DA:O>Awakening>GoA>WH been fixed.

No. Currently there are some severe disconnects from DAO > DAA which are causing some specific issues with imports in DA2. We're working on a solution to this.

If you import directly from DAO the amount of import/plotflag issues you will have will be very minimal compared to imports from Awakenings and onwards.

I've been told (and have reposted this a few times) that the supplier achievement is actually just a blanket check for 66 reagents. Try going to Black Emporium and just buying out everything and see if that causes it to fire.

In the next patch I would like to request the option to diable the mini-map.
Probably not a high priority, but I might as well request it anyway.

Also I would like to know if the import issues being worked on for the next patch will be retroactive fixes. If they are not, then I would like to know so that I will just quit my current playthrough and wiat for the next patch to fix these issues. I want my first playthrough to have the correct Import decisions and everything because I treat my first playthroughs as my "real playthrough."

Currently, I am not sure as to the plan for fixing this issue (aside from the fact that there is one). So, to err on the side of caution, I would say that they won't be retroactive.  The high majority of those import issues stems from the same problem which is that Awakenings doesn't transfer approval levels which many of our checks require.

To clarify:

Regardless of the what the achievement description says, I'm pretty sure you just need to acquire a grand total of 66 reagents. So, assuming you are close like you said you were, just buy as many as you can from the Black Emporium vendor until the achievement fires. You can always reload after that.

It now starts but has an issue with completion.

Just from reading the xbox360achievements.org comments it's definitely possible to get this achievement. It was suggested that you need to have 66 of them and then* pick up a real one from the game so that if you're buying from Black Emporium you'll need to save one to pick up after trying to buy all the missing ones.

He's suggesting there's an inaccessible reagent in Act 3. Since reagents appear in the Black Emporium the act after you miss them, this might mean the the achievement is unattainable as it's impossible to purchase the missing one from the Black Emporium.

Well I can definitely say for a fact that 'unattainable' is not the right word. Unfortunately due to the complexity of this particular issue all I can do is give suggestions. It always works when we try it in-house and many users have said they got it successfully (as does our telemetry) - given all of this my options are a very specific way to break the tracking of the achievement or user error. Either way, we'll look in to it.

Using my psychic powers I'm guessing you're playing a mage and don't have Merrill yet :wizard:

So close. Normally when I see this complaint it's because the user got Carver's quest to go to Gallows early. There are actually quite a few quests that have prereqs before they appear.

Act 3 cut scene where Knight Commander and Orsino are talking in the gallows before final 2 boss battles. Their outfits are completely missing all colors, some background pieces are also missing color, most things are shinny grey, and Orsino outfit stays that way. Their outfits look like the would when the are computer drawn during design phase but color hasn't been added yet.

If you turn off your system, restart and load the save are they still missing the colors? This is typical of out of memory issues that occur over long play times. The most recent patch alleviated this issue substantially but it wasn't fully removed.

I believe Merrill's Consoling Words still fires as normal? This is essentially the same as mourning except that you didn't bring your sibling to the DRE

Aveline got stucked in limbo in the second dragon fase in the quest "Dragon Massacre" when fighting the High Dragon. I'm not sure what was causing the issue, but she should use a restoration potion. I can't tell either if it's only in this fight or in others, aswell if it was random or not. I could not manually control her and i could not use any skills or potions. She was completely stucked, though her head and body moved after the high dragon. Her active ability at that time was focused on the restoration potion.

I use the default tactis and behavior (Tank, Defender). At that time she used; Turn the blade, Shield defense and Bravery as buffs. She also got my mage elemental weapons on and Anders Panacea. As active ability she was going to use was the restoration potion.

Gravitic Ring? (Force Mage) I've heard of this happening in rare cases with that spell.

Weird. I assume this was a one time thing? Let me know if you come across that again (without Gravitic Ring, obviously)

So if I do take Bethany on the Deep Roads quest, I don't get an 'After the Deep Roads' discussion with Merrill since 'Mourning' isn't actually supposed to be in the game? Or are you saying that I will instead get Consoling Words? Apologies if I'm being a bit dense.

Not a problem.

As far as I am aware (and I'm not the definitive export on plot/conversations by any means) Mourning fires when your sibling dies and Consoling Words fires when your sibling goes Grey Warden or Templar/Circle (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). With that in mind, Consoling Words still works with Merrill. Mourning on the other hand does not.

If you can figure out exactly what is causing this issue that would be helpful. I tried for about an hour on PC doing various things but it may be much easier on Xbox. We typically can't fix anything until we can find a way to reliably reproduce the issue (else we cant tell if its fixed or not)

So you're saying even the upcoming patch will require I pretty much start from when I got the bug (50 hours of play ago)? Or that the currebt patch doesn't fix it, BUT the upcoming patch will?

:pinched: Sorry, just a product of me copying from the PC list. On PC, the patch is 1.02 so I just missed editting both of them (its fixed now)

To answer your question though. The slo-mo issue (among many other things that were happening based on the same bug) is fixed in this latest patch but unfortunately we were not able to get a full retroactive fix in place and fully tested in time. The next patch (title update 1.02 for console) will have this retrofix in it (assuming there are not problems with it)

Luke,

While it may be too early to answer for sure, but will any fix to this issue be retroactive and apply to DA2 playthroughs already completed for console users?

Thanks

As far as I can tell with the way the fix is being implemented you should be safe as long as you haven't triggered anything for the specific flags yet. I suspect this will be a case by case basis but for most situations as long as you haven't started the conversations it should be fine.

The glitch with Isabella's friendship ability Thumbs Up can still occurs when she is forcibly removed from your party. *Act II spoilers below*

As an example, when you get the quest "To Catch a Thief", you accompany Isabella to the foundry where the relic is being exchanged. As soon as you enter, she leaves your party in a cutscene. At this point, the Thumbs Up ability is still present on Hawke, even though Isabella is not in the party.

In addition, I saved and loaded subsequent saves after this point and the Thumb's Up ability is still there.

To my knowledge, this shouldn't matter anymore if the buff appears to be present or not, you won't have your attack speed diminished.

I can simply confirm that I have seen no issues with this actually occurring post Patch 1. I don't like to deal in certainties simply because of the wide range of shenanigans I've seen when it comes to software.
