If you don't get it, look up the Isabela/Fenris dialogue

I can't quite tell if you're joking or not. Why would Fenris want a blade made by the Warden Commander of Ferelden of all people?Fruit of the Doom wrote...

Anyhow, I honestly don't think we've been given a single real hint about what it could have been. Anybody can speculate but there is all of nil evidence to support said speculation.

What was in the box? I think some of you are making this much, much too complicated. I think you were told (by Anso) what Fenris thought was in the box, specifically lyrium dust. If you take (and romance) Fenris in your party and side with the Templars, Fenris makes it quietly clear that as part of his duties as Denarius' slave/bodyguard, he WAS a Tevinter Templar....and we know that lyrium has literally been branded into his skin and that Fenris has meny Templar-like abilities.
I think Fenris is a lyrium addict like most Templars are.

I haven't heard this dialogue and the wiki doesn't mention it- do you have a video link for it?(not necessarily your own video) All I knew from talking to him was that he was a bodyguard for Danarius. Anyway, if the faux-templar part is true, then you may be onto something there.IanPolaris wrote...

I wish I had screen captured it. Basically if you are romancing Fenris (romance NOT rivalmance) and you pick the Templars for "Final Straw", Fenris will explain what you are facing in brutal detail and say that he's had to face it before in the Imperium adding that while the line is different in Tevinter, it is there, and even in Tevinter circles can go bad and Templar have to annul them. He seemed to be speaking from frank personal experience. I wish I could give everyone more.

Fenris wouldn't need to consume lyrium as templars do because his lyrium is ever-present.

I don't think that's right. His lyrium markings are ever present to be sure, but eventually the lyrium in his body would be depleted unless the lyrium were completely passive (which we know it's not). In fact I'd say his markings virtually guarantees that Fenris is a lyrium addict.

Sabariel makes a good point that I hadn't considered, the lyrium is branded onto his skin so it's more like a tattoo in that it won't really go away. I figure it would be similar to how lyrium is used to make Golems in that they're instilled with it but they don't need to continue consuming the lyrium to stay alive and animated.IanPolaris wrote...

What makes you think the lyrium markings aren't passive? Also what exactly do you mean by "passive" because I'm simply using it to say they don't get depleted. Another analogy that comes to mind is that of weapon runes- where the lyrium is inscribed, the difference of course being that the subject is alive in this case but the concept of reuse without loss of effect still applies, I'd think.
I think it might come down to whether the lyrium is ingested or not, if it's outside the body, more specifically the skin, then it doesn't degrade, whereas when consumed it does. Just my 2¢.

Wouldn't that mean that they'd have to refill golems with lyrium?

Also, as previously mentioned, golems. So lyrium is not always depleted, somehow. Hmm.
(Unless it's actually never depleted, and having to buy new lyrium potions all the time is just game mechanics. Which is possible.)

Having to buy lyrium potions is probably due to the use of magic consuming it as a fuel to create world altering effects such as shooting a fireball.kyuubifred wrote...
Tattooing the lyrium onto Fenris' skin must somehow make its effects permanent. I suppose his tattoos are basically runes, right? Runes are supposedly made of lyrium, and as far as I know their effects don't run out.

P.S. @ Polaris, perhaps Fenris is a lyrium addict, but if he is not, then it may be possible that because he never actually shoots magic, then it never gets depleted. It may be something of a recyclable "bloodstream" of lyrium. Especially if what I said above is true, he would never need to refill his lyrium tank if he isn't technically channeling it outside of his body

Well to someone like Danarius, only a very powerful magister would be a threat to him. Thus. Fenris would need to have mage-killing powers. Similar to a tempalr. I don't know if he is a lyrium addict, but he could be.DeathStride wrote...
