On Noveria, I can barge into the restricted area and gun down the inhabitants of the station.

See? classical examples of the unwillingness to admit that ME1 was better.
See? If you draw the mustache on Zulu you have a perfect likeness of Adolf Hitler. Seriously bro, you fail. Not just here but in life in general lol.

The characters were 10 times better than in ME1 you can tell that right away when you look at Garrus and Tali in ME1 they were pretty sad character wise but in ME2 they took off. Wrex was the only worth while character but we get 5 characters that are just as good as him if not better.

I am also unwilling to admit that deserts are often wet and that the sun rises in the evening. Damn, I am one sick puppy.
I will admit that you can troll tall buildings in a single bound.

Zulu's one of those droopy eyed armless children that Charlie Sheen was talking about

Totally unrelated but I have never had to fire a shot on the Major Kyle mission.
That's also the case with the other Biotic extremists who've kidnapped Chairman Burns. You have to kill most of them to get to the talky bit. BDtS is basically the same too, though you get two shots to let some batarian guy live after the pre-requisite killing parts.

In UNC: Hostage, I can have a peaceful resolution of a tense situation, or a shootout.
No, you have a shootout no matter what. Only after killing the vast majority can you avoid a second one with the remaining three.

"As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving N@zis or Hitler approaches 1."
More of a corollary, really.

The difference between the games was that confrontations in ME1 could be violently or peacefully resolved (sometimes only violently, but the point is that there was variation), whereas in ME2 they are overwhelmingly resolved with violence, sometimes in ways that seem completely hypocritical.

I think in general the missions in ME2 are better. I was very impresed with Samara and Thane loyalty missions. The OP seems to be conveniently forgetting certain parts of ME2.

But comparison is still very pathetic.

Nice opinion, but it's just that. Opinion. Just like my opinion of your obvious failure with the Godwin's Law reference is pathetic.

No, sometimes you could resolve things non-violently in ME1. Overwhelmingly, however, things were resolved with violence. ME2 did indeed have less of that (though it was still present in many cases), but you're very much overexaggerating how much flexibility ME1 allowed. As far as the hypocritical thing goes...what are you on about? You could be just as hypocritical about stuff in ME1.

'We'll kill these mercs, but negotiate with Aresh, even though he wants to conduct experiments on children'
'We'll kill these mercs, but negotiate with Harkin, even though we know he is a worse scumbag than any of the mercs probably are'
I am not going to go through the percentages, but I have nevertheless named at least a dozen examples in ME1 of being able to defuse confrontations. I think that this is a central feature of the game, and I would really like to see it in ME3.

No, that's not hypocritical. You've already had this explained to you before. And there are plenty of times you end up doing just that when you use persuasion in ME1.
