Using Scripts for Mages/Clerics

I like to use scripts as often as possible for my NPCs - I think it adds a level of realism to the game and as long as they do what their doing I can focuis on my PC.

Here's my question.

It seems that there are some spells my NPC mages, especially, and clerics, to a lesser degree, won't use. 

My best example with mages is that when we get into combat (depending on script) my mages throw a protection spell on themselves and then Magic Missile, Blindness and Chromatic Orb till their gone.  But, it seems, in longer combat scenarios they won't move on to Acid Arrow, Flame Arrow, Agannazers Scorcher or any other similar type spells.

Does anyone know anything that might shed light on that?

They are probably not included in the script you use. I think there are some advanced mage/cleric scripts across different boards. Try to look in the mods on SHSforums, Gibberlings3 or PocketPlaneGroup (or other mod forums).
