The main thing I take away from this topic is the same thing I've been seeing since release day with the few positive reviews. It's always "I'm sorry" or "There's a lot wrong with the game but" or "I can name dozens of things I hate about the game but heres 3 things I do like so 9/10".

Basically even the positive reviews arent positive. They know something is clearly wrong.

There is always something wrong with a game.  If a review is completely positive, you can't trust that review.

Someone needs to link you the EA DA2 promo pic.  Someone knows what I'm talking about.

But yes I agree and to take it even a step further I usually after reading a review reskim back through it and weed out opinions from facts.  I let facts help me form my opinion, not other peoples opinions.  My personal review would be something like

Enougth bugs to warrant an "alpha" designation but not a full release
PC performance is terribly unoptimized
1/4 as long as DAO
One city
repeating areas ad nauseum a la ME1 but worse
inconsistent texturing
combat doesnt know if it wants to be Ninja Gaiden or Final Fantasy Tactics and fails at both.
Too much ******
Isabellas boobs are pleasant.

So when I read these so called positive reviews, when I skim back through and discern facts from opinions the above is pretty much what I find.  Theres no hiding how poor the game is.

I believe they simply feel the need to be apologetic of a positive opinion. Which is a great shame.

It could just be a preparatory guard move, like walking into a Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan site and saying, "I'm sorry, but I thought Firefly was better."

For a review that purports to focus on facts, there's all too much opinion in it. And homophobia, too.

OP good for you, and that's said with sincerity ~ that said you should hardly say that you are sorry for it, there is no need, especially since forums are often ripe with negatives and spite post release, and well in general really.

I think the problem is that people mostly voice criticism, for one it's easier to negate, but there also seem to be less need to enunciate if you are content and pleased with a product (you need passion to rile forums).

Or I actually hope that the devs at BioWare doesn't read the forums, and that instead the community managers do, sending of reports on meaningful content to the devs. Since most of our posts would be detrimental to good games, mine included, simply due to how we work in this medium.

You can argue who is more appealing to your taste - Kim Basinger or Catherine Zeta Jones, but you  can never say either of them is ugly and expect to be taken seriously. Isabela was designed to be attractive and she has a perfectly symmetrical face. She is by default physically appealing for the same reasons Aveline is not.

By the same reasoning you can't expect me to take you seriously if you say that Miranda (ME2) is beautiful. She is butt ugly for me and almost an insult to the woman she is modeled for (I'm talking about faces here).


Whatever, since we are at it, I find perfeclty symmetrical faces creepy. No one has a really symmetrical face. That's why it's difficult for me to find decent face in the day and age of 3D videogaming.
