1. OST
2. Hardcover concept art book and strategy guide
3. Voucher for all future DLC (basically having a GOTY edition before one is made).
4. Stylized steel case.
5. N7 helmet, and not a cheap plastic thing like Halo 3 got. Or the Reaper model found in ME2. Or one of these.
6. Making of DVD/Blu Ray.

This! Like the replica F1 helmets for anyone who buys them. They're neat and look great! But bigger. Not a gun! That's stupid, well not stupid but I live in Australia and we're strange about stuff like that and it would be banned. Everything is your list though is meh.

Well, then it would be the American CE. I would like a gun better than a lamp.

I like how you assume a toy gun wouldn't get through, and how you also assume that anyone would be willing to pay for an F1 helmet, which looks nothing like Shep's... Either way just because one country couldn't get it doesn't mean the rest of the world should be denied. More often then not these things aren't distributed in all regions anyway.

OST's and artbooks are nice and all, but what I would love is a giant poster signed by all the people who worked on ME. Other than that, models, replicas, figurines, etc. are fine as long as they're good quality without any defects. (There's nothing like buying something like a Whatever/Edition of a game to find a broken exclusive piece of junk. The Dead Space cutter is an example, mine didn't even light up, and I couldn't get it replaced or anything.) Exclusive DLC is nice and all, as long as its actually exclusive, instead of being sold to PS3 users when you earned it by reserving or getting the Collectors Edition T_T.

Since its the end of the trilogy, I think they should put their heads together for something momentous. Otherwise, I don't care what's included as long as it's something both good, and good quality. As long as those two conditions are met, I wouldn't mind paying an appropriately exorbitant amount of money.

Well for starters I reckon it'd be pretty special to name it the 'Reapers Edition' since ME2 already had the 'Collector's Edition'. Image IPB

Geth Lamp - Awesome.

Particularly if it had a servo that followed you around the room. :)

Javier, THIS is what I would like to see. In-game Audio Commentary. I posted it a long time ago, it was positively recieved, and I still believe they should absolutely do this.

Added my support in that thread, and I want to add it here too.  Valve's commentary is really interesting and taught me a lot about the studio.  I'd love to see BioWare add something that lets me see as much.

As for physical items, a geth headlamp and a small replica of the Normandy would be pretty cool.  Shepard's dogtags wouldn't be bad either, but I think I'd like the lamp & Normandy figure more.

Edit: Oh yes, and a hardcover FULL-SIZE book of concept art.  With over 100 pages.  The ME2 one awesome to look at but I wanted way more and a larger size would've been nice.  If no larger size then just more pages.  A lot more.

i'd also like to add: don't sell it in such limited quantities (like the lithograph fiascos) from one place that a lot of people miss out on it - you biggest fans don't all live in the US.

I would buy the ME3 CE if it was similar to the fallout one. Like making of dvd, replicas of objects in game and a comic. Also an OST and art book would be great.

The CE for ME2 had an awesome cover and an artbook. ME3 should have this and a OST, making of dvd and replicas of things in game ( mini reaper?).

I like the idea behind the Street Fighter 4 Collector's Edition (only up it further!).

Here's a picture;
Image IPB

As you can see, there's a big box with exclusive art. I like big boxes for my CE's, I buy CE's because I don't wanna shove it into a container full of other games. ME3 should be special and I wanna put it in my living room! =D

Also, the game case inside can be removed separatly in case you want to have the game itself in your usual game case collection (whether you have disc racks or putting game cases like books in a book case, your mileage may vary). This is a great idea. Also, exclusive art work on this box that isn't available to ordinary editions - art work that is at least in my opinion better looking.

Also two figures, Ryu for oldschool, Crimson Viper to represent the newness of SF4. It's wonderful. They can also rest inside the transparant back of the case to emulate a fight scene as you can see in the photo, effects like that are beautiful (I've never removed the figures, myself).

On top of this we also get a soundtrack disc and a disc with a 20 minute anime show. And I've been craving Blasto: The Jellyfish Stings for a while now =D Heck, doesn't have to be a show like that. but something watchable that is more than just trailers is awesome. The making of-dvd for ME1 was amazing, lots and lots of commentary, hours of content. Absolutely loved it and I want MOAR!!!

Of course the SF4 CE also came with some DLC contained within the pack. I know this basically means we pay for the DLC when we buy the CE, but it's a nice touch still.

Go all out, look at many good CE's and knock yourselves out ^^

I pretty much agree with Javierabagazo's thoughts, I think Bioware should listen to what Casey Hudson said in the GI interview, for ME 3 it's time to go big or don't bother. This is it, the end of the trilogy, time to make a CE that really stands out.

That said, what I do not want, is some overproduced, overpriced junk like what a lot of other CE's do. Halo and Call of Duty are franchises that are very guilty of this. They put some big shiny plastic object in their CE's, and that's it, the rest of the uber packages contents are what you'd expect in say a 70 to 80 dollar CE. Then they overproduce it and charge 150 bucks for it. 4 months later, you can find the CE's laying around everywhere for half price, and they aren't worth the powder to blow them to hell. I do not want this approach for ME 3.

Please god, make it limited enough so it's sold out by release. Whatever items they put in it, and if there is a big ticket item like a geth headlamp, reaper model, Normandy model, whatever, have a relatively low production run, don't just spam the market with them so they are worthless junk. Make it something special. Crysis 2 Nano Edition, Bioshock 1, Assassin's Creed 1 and 2, and both previous ME games mostly did a good job in this regard with thier CEs.

I'm not saying keep it so limited no one can get it or only have it available in certain territories, I hope everyone can have a reasonable chance to get one in all areas of the world, I just don't want a redux of Halo 3 Legendary or Dead Rising 2.

As far as contents, I've said my piece in numerous other ME 3 CE topics, but I have to say there are a lot of good ideas out there. I would rather see something more along the lines of the Witcher 2 AoK edition, where you get a lot of little things and a few higher quality items, but maybe not some huge item. On top of artbooks, BTS, OST, maybe an Avatar/PSN item and some exclusive themes,  Patches, pins, materials that are replicas of in game items are always nice too, like a hardcover codex, or character's journal type thing.

If a bigger item is included, I'd rather see it added on top of something along the lines of Witcher 2's AoK edition, instead of a crappy Halo or CoD approach of taking a very lackluster CE, and throwing in a big item and calling it an uber edition. I understand that may mean a higher price point of say closer to 200 dollars or more, but I'd much rather have the quality.

If there is a large item, I do not want a weapon or helmet or something. Reason being, whatever you choose in that regard isn't going to fit at all with some people's characters. On my various characters, I don't play a soldier, I rarely use an assault rifle of any kind, I never wear the helmet unless it's forced in an outdoor setting, so why on earth would I want an N7 helmet or an Avenger Assault rifle or something in my CE? I am sure others feel this way too. I've no problem with a Reaper or Normandy statue, or even that Geth headlamp though.

All I can say is, please don't use "X-Factor" in regards to Mass Effect at all. It's one of those bullsh*te words which has entered modern language which means absolutely nothing. Plus, its an awful show. Terrible terrible show.

I'd love it if the Collector's Edition came with an in-universe personal journal, written by one of the more important characters with an advantageous perspective, such as Liara, maybe TIM or Kahlee Sanders. A good example of how this would be the journal 'written by Dr. Halsey' that came with the special editions of Halo Reach:

I think the community would really appreciate to experience how one such character lived his/her early life, experienced Human First Contact (and to what extent) and how Shepard impacted his/her live. Notes on pretty important things, such as alien biology and biotics and such would also be nice.

Of the three characters I mentioned above, each could provide unique insight in things previously relatively unknown or unexplained: Liara's journal would shed some light on the Protheans as well as show some interesting things she learned as the Shadow Broker. TIM's would accurately describe First Contact from a first-hand perspective and show us what Cerberus has done over the years, while also showing what it's like at the top. Kahlee's journal, on the other hand, would cover some stuff that was in the books but never really got much explanation, such as her early research on the artifact that turned out to be Sovereign (Revelation), much on human biotics and Gillian Greyson (Ascension) and whatever was discovered from the "Reaper-tech" they got at the end of Retribution.

Just some simple brainstorm session on my part, as I pretty sure this is something many of us would like, Which character is most suited to 'write' such a journal, however, is hard to determine.

A mix between Halo Reach legendary and The Witcher 2 uber edition would be perfect. With something like the statue in Reach and preforably the Halsey diary and all the good stuff that is in The Witcher 2 uber.

I was very disappointed when I found out the DA2 soundtrack from the SE was downloadable. Like, seriously, BioWare? Couldn't you give us an actual physical disc with all the soundtrack included?

Regardless, great thread as always, Javier. Hope BioWare takes note of the suggestions here.

Dr. Halsey's Journal has to be one of the coolest items I have ever recieved from a Special/Collectors/Limited Edition of a game. I carried that thing around with me where ever I went for about a week just reading it over and over again, it also inspired me to go out pick up a copy of the book "The Fall of Reach". I still flick through it every now and again just because it is soo awesome.

A steel case for the actual discs is a must if we are talking about a Collectors/Limited/Uber Edition.

I also like the idea of getting a Original Soundtrack Disc ( yes a physical disc ) with my Collectors Edition.

Artbooks are cool as well. I did not invest money in the ME1 Collectors Edition so I don't know what the artbook that came with that game was like but I did get a kick out of the ME2's Collectors Edition artbook, it was nice to be able to see some of early sketches for ME2's new squadmates and characters although I do wish ME2's artbook was much bigger/longer.

I don't usually watch making of dvd's for games ( which is odd since do that with films ) but I would probably enjoy getting one for ME3. The ME franchise has been one of the most ambitious things to ever happen to the genre, it would be nice to hear bit from the people who came up with the concept, how it evolved, how the games were made, why  certain changes were made from game to game, how they handled negetive feedback from fans and how they kept track of all the choices, branching storylines, etc.

I still want my model of the Normandy SR-2  ( or whatever it now looks like in ME3 ) but I would not mind it if Bioware did somthing similar to what Bugie did with Halo Reach's Legendary Edition with the models/action figures.

Here are a few comments on collectors editions:

I like physical bonuses, such as cd soundtrack (not downloadeable), art books, making of disks.  The commentary on Alan Wake was nice.  Smaller objects such as Oblivion coin, and some in-universe objects such as the journal from Halo Reach.

Bonus DLC: I don't really care one way or another.

On the case, I either like a steel book case or the orginal case.  I don't really like some xbox collectors edition that have a black case that's missing most of the box art.  The orginal boxes just look better than the black ones.

What i'd like to see:
Metal case
Full artbook + designers notes
Soundtrack on own disk
Book of short stories/after action reports from the Reaper war.
Model of Normandy/reaper
Poster of all squadmates
Interactive map of the galaxy - similar to the Normandy's galaxy map but more detailed and covering worlds not visit-able in game but mentioned in the background.

This is a collectors edition for a pen and paper game, but if packaging for ME3 came like this I'd pay good money for it. www.youtube.com/watch

They had me until they opened the box to reveal all of 1 item. Bio/EA probably WOULD do this! I can just see it: Muzyka would open the fancy box over the swelling tones of the ME theme to reveal . . . a DVD case!

Swag! I demand swag for my cash!

I'd expect swag from a video game.  Pen and paper games traditionally all the collectors edition meant is a better cover and paper.  I still would get it, and then frequently a "reading" copy but I'm a RPG nut.  This was a ridiculous step up from what I normally see in a collectors edition.  While 4e was my least favorite version of Shadowrun I still got it, 4A and the collectors edition of 4a.  Here is the amazon listing of the 4a collectors edition.  Note how its just a book with a fancy cover and paper.  I like it, it is really nice paper, a great binding, some extra short stories to help set the mood for the setting but no swag, no fancy box, nothing.
