True we are not forced to buy it but games are not as complete as they used to be because of it.

Yeah, because 80+ hours of gameplay just screams "incomplete".

Compared to the average game Dragon Age is above and beyond in the content department.

Not really.  If you take out all of the voice-acting and extremely long dialogues there is probably about 30 hours of actual gameplay that doesn't involve you sitting there waiting for some NPC to shut up.  I can name RPGs from the original Playstation with more content, and the whole 80+ or 100+ hours is nothing new for RPGs.  For as long as this game was in development you would expect it to have 200+ hours of gameplay.

I can't even fathom that you believe the crap you are saying. You're basically saying yea, it's an 80 hour game, but if they took out 50 hours of content, it would be a 30 hour game....

sorry to be rude but no **** shirlock.

Yeah I'm sure a DLC announcement was worth getting everyone all worked up.

Lol a dev dropped *one* line, a day before the announcement. You really expected something big ?

It's ok, hype-wise. I'm glad there's going to be more content soon.

...too bad though that this new DLC seems to be rather combat focused. Not exactly what I was hopin for.

Hey.  One line got a 22-page thread so far, and that's just here.

My guess:

When you visit Ostagar the first time the soldiers don't let you into the Tower of Ishal, because they recently found a dungeon underneath and have to examine it. That's where the darkspawn came from you encounter while the battle is ongoing. So it isn't just Ostagar!

I'm looking forward to it!

Can't wait BioWare... I hope you will have codex entries that we can find at the Grey Warden's side of the warcamp and at other locations. (Such as Loghain's and King Cailan's tent) ;p

This fills me with inexpressable glee. Any clues yet as to who's doing it? Writer/artist(s), etc?

Yes, this was my thought as well. I reckon that, in addition to exploring the "town" part of Ostagar and, perhaps, the Tower of Ishal again, we'll find new content in this new-but-hinted-at-earlier Warden's Keep -sized (although hopefully larger) subterranean dungeon.

Yay for more overpowered items in an already easy game.

Are people really going to go onto that battlefield and strip the dead king.. and what about Duncan?

I'm pumped about this. The screens looked awesome to me. As for the people who'd rather have more story than combat...I don't know about you, but there is plently of story in the original content about political manuevering and 'You scratch my back I'll scratch yours' questlines. I for one could go in for a little revenge! Nothin' tastes sweeter than vengeance :)

Possibly, but I figure we will be more than likely going pass Tower of Ishal (Probably destroyed) and going to the real warcamp... and then eventually to the battle field.

It isn't 80 plus hours. You can't count spoken dialog as gameplay.

I'm not disappointed. DLC is what I expected. In that regard, I'm happy. What bothers me is this DLC seems lighter on content than Warden's Keep. The advertisement makes it sound like we're returning to Ostagar to loot corpses. Because when I think of grand adventure, scavenging battlefields is what springs to mind. :P

I hope they release more information on this before it's available; because I'm not buying this DLC if it's just a few lines of dialogue and battles that end in a pile of overpowered early game equipment.

* A return to the battlefields of Ostagar, now thick with darkspawn encamped amidst the snow

* An opportunity to reclaim the lost arms and armor of a king

* A second chance to add Dog to your party

Pshhhhh if this is all they could put in the description then I'm not buying. rather spend $5 on a good coffee.

For those that already have a dog this is basically:

fight some darkspawn that you have fought before in a place you have already been to

get a reskinned mix of jugger/warden armor

pass on this one

Maybe you can't, I certainly do.  I usually enjoy the dialog and story far more then the combat.  The combat is just something to pad out the game as I progress through the story.

I'm sure I'll be buying this, Bioware are my Overlords and I'm totally hooked on this game, but I have to express my major disappointment:

AWWW, did we really need yet another Heavy Armour set? The lack of awesome Light Armour gives my Rogue-lovin' self sadface. I know for Ostagar that Cailan's armour is what fits, but I hope future DLCs will see some love for Rogues and Mages.

If you take the dialogue out of Persona 3 and 4 they're  pretty short games, ok maybe not short, but significantly shorter than they are. Fable 2... is short WITH the dialogue. Easily beaten in 10 hours and it's replay value is far smaller than DA too.

If you take the Dialouge out of FFXII you are probalby left with a 25-35 hour game.

I beat Fallout 3 in about 12 hours as well.

I'd say that, content wise, Dragon Age is doing just fine.
